Elmo, Grover, Big Bird, and all the Sesame Street folk pitch in to demonstrate lots and lots of opposites. From open/close and near/far to dark/light and dry/wet, and many more in between, here is a rollicking introduction to an important concept for toddlers. This sturdy board book with padded covers is the perfect size for young children yet big enough to offer plenty of room on the pages for engaging text and illustrations.

Natalie invited herself into a mother-daughter pair reading this at the library, then we took it home. There are a lot of opposites presented in this book; so many that it could be overwhelming. But, you can chose to read all the words in this book, or just sections. That can make it less overwhelming. I also really liked how the pairs of opposites were colored coded. So it might talk about light and dark and on and off on the same page spread, but used the colors to link the word pairs. Natalie particularly responded to the dark and light because turning her light off is a new skill.
