I used to write for TV but when I became pregnant, I couldn't believe there wasn't a book out there that delved into the true perils of procreation. So I wrote "Pregnancy Sucks", sent it out to a handful of publishers and, at the lowest point in any woman's year, when trying on bathing suits at the mall, I got a call that it was going to be published! It became a best-seller and led to a dozen other books in the "Sucks" series, and an appearance on the Today show. I just released my first fiction book, "Finding Paris: A Novel" which is like going to the city of light from your coziest chair. I hope you enjoy it! Merci beaucoup.

This book would be great as a launching point to learn about breastfeeding, but if you have already done any research on the subject you can skip this book. Kimes quickly outlines the problems you'll likely encounter and provides a few suggestions for how to cope with each she has a very Girlfriends Guide feel to her writing and does not provide any technical detail. It is however a very quick read so if you are debating whether or not to try breastfeeding it might be the book for you.

I find Joanne Kimes to be both helpful and engaging Not only does she tackle the basics of breastfeeding, she zeros in on all the specific problems that can arise in trying to get that baby to latch on. To sum it up I'd say you definitely won't be "let down" by this one!

Recommended by a coworker. Down-to-earth advice - I found it mostly just helped reassure me that what I was experiencing wasn't "weird" which is worth something. Not helpful with specific problems, though, and not one that I would own as a reference.

Good general information but the author is a bit sanctimonious about working while breastfeeding. The pumping chapter is a bit discouraging with comments suggesting that a working mom is somehow going against nature and will morally justify it by thinking of her paycheck. Ugh...

My mom bought this book for me because she thought the title was funny. I am glad she did! This book is hilarious! The author is witty and clever while being informative at the same time!
