First published in 1965 this dictionary is one of the great gems for the Thai language student. The 1984 edition I have is published in two hard-bound volumes. This Thai-English dictionary features a phonemic Thai pronunciation guide, a range of English equivalents, an sample sentences and phases illustrating the use of the words. Unfortunately, much of the language is archaic and the dictionary does not reflect the enormous amount of change and development that Thai has undergone in the ensuing decades since the books were first published.

A very handy book, with a cute cover. All the English words are also written phonetically in Thai, unfortunately not the other way round, so you have to be able to read Thai to use it. There's also some additional info and usage for the words. And in the end, there's a list of irregular verbs in English. Sometimes there are even small pictures inside.
