I have read all but book 1 and have found all of them a delightful read.I love how this author bring true facts of history to her stories. Each of her characters are wonderful from her strong women to her alpha males. I loved how her words flow easy, the author paints a believable story of long ago. It is very heart touching the trials they have to go through. She gives you a touching read with believable characters that you can relate to.
In Kate's Outlaw Jake is such a wonderful man, he might be part Indian but he has the heart of a lion and a mind of a wolf. He just wants to help his people keep what is theirs and keep peace. He will do it by the white man’s law fight fire with fire. He doesn’t want to kidnap Kate but he has little choice it is either take her or let his cousin kill her. He needs to work out a plan to get her back to her people and keep his people save. They were not planning on falling in love but they did. Now to do what is best for both their people without hurting themselves. Can they keep peace and walk away from their true feelings?
A Dangerous Passion you have the alpha male do as I say and follow me anywhere. Lucy just isn't having anything to do with that. she is not in a place in her life where she is ready for children, she has no time she wants to write stories. From the moment she steps off the train her live changes forever. She has more adventure then you can shake a stick out. Gun fire explodes all around her but unlike most women who would turn, spin and run to safety she runs into it to help a fallen man who has been shot. We have the hero that holds off the bad men why she gets the wounded man to safety. What does she get for her trouble, but one angry hero who wants to know just what she thinks she is doing? Who is this scoundrel and just what and who does he thinks he is? She has a thing or two to tell him starting with I can do as I please and you can’t do anything about it. Henry is about to show her she needs a man to protect her. This is one man who will have his hands full as this woman drives him crazy.
Fugitive Hearts - One of my favorite parts in this book is where we find some outlaws might be bad, they may steal or even kill but some have a heart of goal under all that big bad evil skin. Claire stands by her man even through trying times. He might not be the man she married but she will given him honor if it is the last things she does. This is a woman after your heart she protects those she loves even at cost to herself and her reputation. She is a strong woman, she has to be, even being married she still needs to provide for them since her husband is not able to. She takes how people treat her in stride knowing this would be the outcome. She holds her head high even when things look as if she has no hope.
Awww the handsome Sheriff Frank is a man after your heart he has a past that haunts him and drinking is a problem. He uses it to get through those trying times when the past comes knocking. He up holds the law no matter what until things get a little sticky for Claire he just might be willing to knock a few teeth out of some so and so mouth. I loved how he took care of Claire even when she was stubborn and bullhead. You are going to love how he takes over when the lady starts praying over Claire. After I got over the shock I had to chuckle.
The author pulls in history and twist her story around it to make this an outstanding read. She touches on some serious issues but writes them with style. She puts heart and soul in her writing as she makes this a wonderful romance with heartbreak that will having you falling in love with her characters. You will be cheering on Frank as you support Claire and hope these two can come to an understanding before time runs out. Billy must be found he holds all the keys to unlock this puzzle but Claire is doing everything she can to send him on a wild goose chase. Frank is having no of this and isn’t about to let the women out of his sites. If he can just keeps his hands off her and they can find Billy everything will be alright. The author gives you outlaws, train robbers, suspense, chases and oh the thrills of passion along with a little humor. I found myself chuckling throughout this read.
If you haven’t read anything by E.E. Burke’s you do not know what you are missing. She knows how to spin a believe tale that holds your interest and will keep you turning the page. Her characters are believable and likeable ones that you can relate to with issues of normal people. In one of her books you learn about PTSD before they even knew it was a problem and how they dealt with it back in those days. Her stories will stay with you long after you close the book. I have been a fan of her work from the first book I read. I do not plan on missing any of her work if I can help it. She is one author when I see her name I know I have to have the book. I really love how she brings really history to her story. You get a wonderful read and learn a little about the past. This is one lady that knows her history. This series is outstanding don’t take my word for it pick up one of her books today you won’t be sorry. If you are looking for a well written story of the west that is full of romance, suspense, passion than I highly recommend this author.

This series is outstanding! Based loosely around the highly popular television series Hell On Wheels, it chronicles life in our country in the late 1860's, the struggle to build the nation's railroads, and the people who lived in the small towns that sprang up along the way. With excellently researched, and historically accurate details, E.E. Burke has written four adventurous tales of historical American romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. It has a little bit of everything for those who love this genre: mail order brides, Indians and outlaws, small town sheriffs and the passionate romances that we all crave. Sit back and read about history in the making, with great characters and multi-layered storylines that are sure to become your all time favorite romance reads.
