Even after all these years the story kept me engaged. I remember 5th grade and all the ups and downs. Lots in this story that made me think and admire how resilient kids are in the face of adversity. Made me very grateful for my family.

There are several things in this story that date the book such as waiting for a tv to warm up, commercials, tv guides in paper form. These items didn't distract me but wonder how the youth of today feel about it. Still enjoyed this bit of nostalgia from my childhood.
