While I'm not a Beach Body fanatic by any means, I am a fan of Autumn Calabrese and her movement to get people in shape and her portion control meal plan concepts. Last spring I started using the 21 Day Fix containers that came with the Fixate cookbook and I was hooked. What I like about the 21 Day Fix plan is that, even if you don't use the containers every day or with every meal, the concept, helps you think more deeply about how many portions of veggies, fruits, proteins, etc. that you are taking in. I like that because it does help with my personal weight loss goals and staying on track. The recipes in the book are not overwhelming so just about anyone can duplicate the recipes. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone just getting started on meal planning.
made one of the recipes last night. Easy to follow and completely delicious. She definitely makes losing weight easier than any diet I have ever been on. Her containers make it so easy and even when you aren't using the containers, you can visualize your portion sizes and fill up quicker. Her open faced meatball subs were a HUGE hit in my household and the perfect recipe for Super Bowl Sunday1
Okay, Y'all--Full disclosure. In 2016, I was in my brother's wedding and I used 21-Day Fix/Shakeology to loose about 65 pounds. At the time I had the support of a nutritionist as well. This was the only weight loss program that worked for me (I kept the weight off for about 2 years) and I have tried Weight Watchers, Paleo, Keto, and researched (but did not try) Noom.
So now that I have put the weight back on I am going back to the 21-Day Fix program. Enter Fixate, a cookbook largely promoted to support 21-Day Fix. The program uses a container system to monitor food and type of food intake and the recipes in Fixate do give the container conversions for each serving--but you do not need to be on 21-Day Fix or have the containers to benefit from this cookbook. The recipes limit carb intake, and maximize fruits, veg and lean protein. I am allergic to nuts and I was worried that there would be too much dependence on nuts and nut milk to replace carbs and truth be told there is some of that here, but this cookbook is not an advertisement for cashew cream so, rejoice!
There is one chapter dedicated to Shakeology but you could easily use whey or other protein powers to make use of that chapter if you wanted--and it's only one chapter--this cookbook is not an infomercial for Shakeology either!
Also, (huge value-add for me) there is a chapter dedicated to "skinny" cocktails.
And with the exception of one recipe using fresh clams and two recipes for seared tuna, all the recipes included here look like the ingredients will be easy to find, and the food will be quick to prepare and tasty to eat.
The best book on healthy recipes ever. Autumn Calabrese is amazing. This book tied in well with my 21-Day Fix workout on Beachbody on Demand. Learned everything about portion control using the 7 containers in the nutrition plan
Best cookbook I own. Love that it gives the portions by food group and the meals are big enough for me to feed my family. I’ve made about a dozen recipes so far from this and I love them all.
I really liked this book. I am not doing the Shakeology.... What I loved about this book is the recipes ALL looked so good as well as doable. I can't wait to cook almost all of them! My only complaint is that she does not have MORE BOOKS!
