Who's the fairest of them all?

Thanks to the Witness Protection Program, for five years Jenna Kendrick, a.k.a. Kendra Jenner, faced a stranger in the mirror. Now, with the man she helped imprison about to be paroled, she was facing danger....

Jenna had no choice: To save her life, she had to leave behind the man she loved--long, lean cowboy Adam Case--and become someone else again.

But no hair dye or fake ID could prevent Adam from tracking her down ... or demanding the truth. Who was she, really? The woman he loved, or the devil in disguise?

Before he could find out, Jenna was on the run again ... with a killer right behind her.

Kindle copy, originally published 1994. When Barnes gets out of prison, his first priority is to kill the B whose testimony put him behind bars. She's in the Witness Protection Program, but he's got her location pegged. Fast paced. Heartfelt. Suspenseful. Smexy (two love scenes, but not very explicit).

Resourceful heroine, reminiscent of Grace in Linda Howard's Son of the Morning. Bloody stupid hero. His plan B was a joke, placing everyone at risk. Why didn't he call for back up? Why didn't he at least call the local sheriff, to find the missing deputy? Frustrated me to no end.

This book reminded me of several others involving US Marshals and women in Federal Protection. I recommend The Witness, by Nora Roberts and Woman on the Run by Lisa Marie Rice. There is also another book titled The Witness, by Sandra Brown, but I haven't read it.

Very engaging romantic suspense written by the talented Lynn Turner.
Jenna testified against Barnes which sent him to prison, then changed her name and, with witness protection program, start a new life. Five years later, Barnes is out of prison and plans his revenge. Adam, the H, has a plan of his own. He has worked on Barnes case for so long, he want nothing but send him back to prison, he is convinced that Jenna is Barnes s complice, so he deceives her in order to get any info about Barnes. When Jenna knows the truth about Adam, she is devastated, and when Barnes tries to assault her, she changes her identity and run away, followed by Barnes s man all the way. Adam discovers the truth about Jenna s innocence, he is very repentant, but very determined to find the woman he loves and save her from Barnes.
The romance is few & far between but it's very sweet, the h/h emotions are very well described, you can't help but invest your owns all along. I was sucked in it from the first page till the very end, wanting to be sure h/h got their HEA.

3 Stars ~ This is the first book I've read written by Lynn Turner. She's written for various Harlequin imprints; from sweet Romance, more passionate Presents, and mysterious Intrigue.

After turning in her brother-in-law for various tax evasion crimes, Jenna enters the Witness Protection Program. She'd done it to give her sister and nephew an opportunity to get away from the abusive man. But now, Dennis has used his powerful influence and after only five years has achieved parole. He's gunning for Jenna, for in the process of running, Dennis' wife and son died and burned in a plane crash.

Adam is a special agent in the US Marshall Service and he'd been after Dennis for racketeering, drugs and other mob crimes, when Jenna had turned in her evidence. She'd cut his investigation short and Dennis went down for lesser crimes. Now with Dennis coming out, Adam wonders if Jenna had maybe played Dennis' game, and together they figured out how close he was to getting Dennis. In jail for a lesser crime, Dennis still was able to weld control over his empire.

Adam forces his way into Jenna's life, hoping that Dennis will reunite with her. But instead of a cold calculated accomplice, Jenna proves to be the innocent very brave woman she appears to be. And finally coming to believe this, Adam realizes he's fallen in love with her. And then the fear comes in, because he knows there's no way Dennis will let her live.

This is a good story, with some romance, some mystery, some dangerous action. Overall, this is an enjoyable read.
