He had his wires crossed.....

Fiery Autumn Reed was about to blow a fuse. She'd expected to do some simple electrical work for Jeff Bradford. But the devastating doctor was creating sparks that had nothing to do with wiring!

By the time she finished the job - and several other Jeff just happened to have - Autumn knew she was in trouble. Jeff's Southern charm was potent; her independent streak was just as strong. And she had no intention of playing Scarlett to his Rhett - no matter how much static he gave her.

The author definitely saved the best for last in this series. We have a heroine who is an electrician and terrified of commitment and losing her independence. On the other hand, is our doctor hero who looks at her when she is on call at his house and falls for her like a ton of bricks and chases her. You did feel for the poor hero, she was like one of those HP heroes, sex is fine but any sign of permanence and poof! I liked this reversal of roles and felt heroine should have given in much sooner, but the author conveys her doubts very nicely.

The h is an electrician. Lol.
I don’t like my heroines doing these job. I mean I do appreciate them doing these jobs but I’m just not into reading them in my books.

I have never read one of Gina Wilkins books before but one of my daughters told me she loved her NASCAR series so I thought I'd give this author a try. What I did not know at the time was this story was one of the first she wrote. The third book in a trilogy, HERO BY NATURE was the story of the youngest Reed sister, Autumn.

At twenty-five years of age Autumn thought she knew what love was and it scared her. So she moved from her hometown in Arkansas to a new life in Tampa, Florida to learn to become, of all things, an electrician. And she became a good one. At the onset of this story she was on a call to fix a problem at the home of Dr. Jeff Bradford, a pediatrician. When he met her at the door of his home he was attracted to her immediately. Before she left he asked her out and she said no. Some time went by but he was undaunted. So he placed another call to her firm to send her back to his home to repair another 'problem'. Again, he asked her out and she said no. His ego crushed, he still wanted to go out with her but he was afraid of scaring her away so his partner at his work got involved. Unbeknownst to him.

The first half of the book was actually pretty good. He pursued her, got some negative results and then the tables were turned and he made her want him. That part was refreshing. Unfortunately, the second half was all about her stupidity in not realizing when she had a good thing. Jeff fell in love first and knew she was the one. He was smart, acted mature, was good-looking and was well-off. They had sex and it was awesome but she still would back off as soon as he declared any of his feelings. I enjoyed that he was upfront and honest. This went on over a period of several episodes but she always came back, wanting him but not wanting him. If that makes sense.

I gave it three stars because I liked the romance because of Jeff. There was a pleasant little secondary story about Autumn's neighbor and co-worker. If you love Gina Wilkins' work and have not tried this earlier series you may want to look for this trilogy. If you are unable to find the books, Ms. Wilkins is making many of her earlier books available on Kindle.
