President's Astrologer

Rate this book
While this New Age thriller might be reminiscent of the real-life astrologer associated with President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan, the story is carefully and creatively set in the year 2006 and focuses on the impact an astrologer could have on an American president and the affairs of state.

Addie Pryce is called to the White House to serve as the president's astrologer. She becomes entangled in a game of power, danger, and romance. First printing of this book was in 1998 and is set in 2006. The author must have imagined that huge biotechnological advances would have transpired in those eight short years. The plot would have been more believable were it set farther in the future. It kept me turning pages, however, in the same way that Palmer's First Patient did.

a bit too silly mid way onward. I like the setup, premise overall, and characters. Felt too dated even for late 90s. Sort of expected storyline for 1970s; moreso in displays of sexism.

Entertaining enough if you happen across it (though it's not worth buying) and have some time to kill, though mostly because it's rather clumsy. Shafferman may be a top-notch astrologer -- I have no real idea -- but as an author, she's rather predictable.

Astrologically accurate & interesting, however, one can tell this woman isn't really a writer - the characters & descriptions/imagery are all a little dry & stilted.

This futuristic mystery written in 1998 holds up very well. Great suspense, a nice romance and an un-guessable surprise finish. Add a star if you’re an astrology buff.
