Rate this book
This special collection includes three full length novels - hundreds of pages of well-researched adventures and thrills - for the price of two individual volumes. Fans of George MacDonald Fraser, Ian Fleming and John D. MacDonald will enjoy former Army Ranger turned covert agent Jake Fonko's globe-spanning adventures. Fonko in the Sun (Book 4), Fonko Bolo (Book 5) and The Mother of All Fonkos (Book 6) Fonko in the Sun (Book 4) - Grand Cayman 1983. When ex-Army Ranger turned soldier of fortune Jake Fonko is hired for a routine job in the Caribbean, the first day of his latest mission doesn’t turn out as planned, with a bloody bank robbery, a barroom shootout, multiple aerial dogfights and a chopper crash in the Jamaican jungle welcoming him to the idyllic islands. Stumbling into possession of highly sensitive financial documents from the BCCI, Jake finds himself pursued relentlessly by crooks, cartels, corrupt politicians and the CIA and KGB. If he wants to survive the beautiful climes, Jake must find a way out of a mess that's anything but routine. But with no passport and no backup, are Jake's training and ironic wit enough to survive the suffocating surveillance? Fonko Bolo (Book 5) - Philippines 1986. After Army Ranger trained soldier of fortune Jake Fonko barely survives a trip to Calcutta, he returns to his Malibu home to recover—only to find an old CIA associate knocking at his door. Communist Philippine rebels threaten critical US military bases in the region, as well one of America's staunchest Ferdinand Marcos. Despite previous problems when working with the agency, Jake accepts the simple mission after being bribed and blackmailed, agreeing to put the communist rebels out of commission. But of course his mission isn’t really that simple—and so Jake must use his training, satirical wit and skills to prevent the rebels from seizing the country and escape the conflict alive. The Mother of All Fonkos (Book 6) - Kuwait 1990. When former Army Ranger turned freelance gun-for-hire Jake Fonko receives a cushy "consulting" offer in Kuwait City, he hops a plane and heads out for what he expects will be a relaxing four week stay. But soon after Jake lands, Saddam Hussein’s army blitzkriegs the city, trapping everyone inside. Jake's new job is survive the chaos and escape Kuwait. But playing all the roles required to make it out of the desert alive will tax Jake's training and ironic wit to the breaking point - and Iraqi prisons are hardly hospitable to former American soldiers...

Reminded me of the movie Forest Gump

I enjoyed reading this book and getting back into action packed fiction. This book is about freelance agent Jake Fonko and his adventures around the world. He has a snack of being in places where significant historical events occur. Just like Forest Gump. And Jake is usually a part of and tends to influence these events. I guess I'll have to read the rest of the books in this series.

Jake/Jack Fonko/Philco ... Real life hero.

The series gets better and better with each wonderful adventure. I think the phrase commonly thrown around is unputdownable, well I for one cannot argue with that. How dare anyone doubt The authenticity of the world renowned Jake Phonko ? 😉

Wow! What a book.

I have enjoyed reading this book which brought back memories of the Gulf war. My daughter served in this war as a Marine. Have read a lot about this war and the author stuck to the main history while taking Jake through the story with history woven in. Thank you for a superb story.

Fiction meets Fact?

The protagonist, seemingly an agent for the CIA, finds himself involved in historically true events all over the globe. Told in the first person his tales are given greater credence.

Make Fonko, my favorite non-spy

Another three amazing stories about the incredible Jake Fonko the greatest super non agent ever. Just being Jake he has again proved his status as the man who can make chicken salad out of anything but 🐔

Totally enjoyable

Between Jake and his Russian keeper, this was a comical jaunt through a history lesson. Those who've lived through these events can gain a different perspective of them. Very entertaining reading. Hilarious at some points.

Another page turner that's hard to put down!!

Jake Fonko is Forrest Gump without the naive outlook. He knows what he is doing and where he has been. Rollicking good time, cannot recommend any more highly!

Interesting mix of fact and fiction

Fast read - slight political slant on U.S. Policy- very creative but unrealistic fictional actions of escape and intrigue. What is fact vs fiction?

Enjoyed this.

I enjoyed Jake's stories and look forward to reading more. These were interesting, well paced, tinged with fact and fattened with fiction. I would recommend these for casual reading on the beach.

Catch you off guard entertainment

Purchased the series out of curiosity after reading the description and could not stop once i started. Fonko is the James Bond in all of us and the Seal Team 6 role model.
Pure enjoyment.

Tried but couldn’t get through the set. Christmas is the wrong time to read an, otherwise, exciting plot with profanity. Will try again later.

A fun romp through history, with a tongue in cheek tale of adventure.

If you enjoy action that combines a fictional character with historical world events, this is your series! One wonders what this author might come up with next. With a name like "BS Flinger", who knows!

Love these books on Jake Fonco and woyld recommend these to others. Seems like in these three that the author got a little too much BS in some places with the individual self explanations. Outside that this series as was all this series are great!!!!!

Exceptionally fun to read. I "witnessed" many of the events Jake gets himself into and to view these as an alternative history makes for great reading. The sense of humor rings throughout the series.

I rarely read a book twice but the Fonko books are very entertaining. There is a history lesson in everyone.
