I read this to Julianna today. We took turns on parts she could read as she recognized some words. There are green sections for adults to read and easier words for her to read on top. She gives the book 1 star. She said she thinks the humpback whale's "teeth" are weird and she didn't like they eat fish. Book said some whales have teeth but this one has baleen comblike structure to help eat instead. I found 3 interesting facts: One of the biggest creatures in the world; a blue whale, his cousin is the biggest animal that ever lived; even bigger than a dinosaur & that their tail fins are called flukes; and flukes are like fingerprints; no 2 humpback's flukes look exactly the same. So I would have put 4 stars but this is her review with my input as well. ;-)

The text is written so the humpback whale “speaks” to youngsters, relating the activities of his everyday life in the ocean in an upbeat fashion.

The book includes a fact section in the back, which discusses why whales are endangered, as well as other information about whale behavior.

Brief text telling what a humpback whale does. A bit more info in fact boxes on each page. The best info in this title is an excellent description of how the humpback blows bubbles around a large group of fish making it impossible for them to escape, the whale lunges and swallow his food.
