I started reading this as a filler for another serious that I am waiting to continue, but the first chapter had me HOOKED. The insane adventures that Zane and Lily went on had are action packed with an abundance of twists and turns. They had me finding myself awake at 5 am saying "..just one more chapter.." I was sad to see it end, and am pushing for the author to continue on as he said he would with more about Lily's continued adventures.
If you like action packed stories filled with assassins and magic used in unique ways, give this a try and I guarantee you will become a fellow Zane fan.
Trying out new author's can be hit or miss. Ratings and reviews are often far too generous or harshly critical. I'm an avid fantasy reader and if you are reading thru the reviews looking for a genuine opinion then know this, I enjoyed the hell out of this series. It was obviously compiled from a group of novellas. Each book was focused on a specific event. The flow from book to book was easy to follow and it all wrapped up nicely in the end. Therr is plenty of action without too much "purple prose". The pacing was just right. Give this series a shot. It was worth it.
This novel comprises all six in the Zane Halloway series. A period of time where magic is practiced by one society. Stealth and usage of shadows, Illusion is practiced In the later society or guild. Their resides Zane Halloway, one of four assassins in the Ferox guild. They detest magic. The practitioners of magic belong to the guild Abditus. Zane, started as an apprentice Abditus, but left, disillusioned with their magic. This is an epic novel. Ripe with manipulation, courage, the negative and positive sides of mankind which still exist today. The author writes in the same vein as J.R. Tolkein. A extremely high compliment. Enjoyed immensely
PIcked up the book based on a Facebook advertisement; read it while in between favorite author releases. VERY enjoyable read; it's a series of novellas that kept your interest. The author did a good job of building the world's magic rules and I found it fresh. Not sure what I expected when I started, but the book definitely beat expectations and I would look forward to reading more in this world.
I admit I only got this book because the author is in East Tennessee, where I am. However, after reading Zane's and Lily's stories I am so glad I did. All of the characters are likeable, even the supposed evil ones. The world is described in a way that doesnt leave you wondering about it. The action of the characters flow from the page. I can't wait to read Lily's entire story.
I liked the stories. It was a nice read and so many options for more. Yet this story felt complete, and I liked that. Lily and Zane are uninteresting characters. I can't wait to read more from this author.
What a fascinating reading! Interesting world and well-written characters, swords and magic, assassins and politics - this is one of the most interesting books I've ever read. And it is definitely has its own style. Highly recommended.
The universe P.T. has created has a ton of potential for more great stories. It would be great to read more with Zane and Lily together but it sounds like the future books will just be about Lily. Going to go find them now!
Don't expect any love triangles. This is a story of adventure, experiences, trust, betrayals, and intrigues. Royalty, magic, pirates, elves, and exclusive Societies. Zane and Lily are enigmatic characters.
This was a fun omnibus of novellas, and I very much enjoyed the characters. A little editing would improve the whole experience, but I recommend this to anyone that enjoys action, character building, magic, and a good ending!
Wow! I did enjoy this trilogy. It was exciting, enthralling even. The story was very well thought out. Characters felt like friends, well some of them anyway. I am looking forward to Lilly and her adventures. Thank you
I read 2 books at a time. After reading the first book of Zane I had to put the other a side. I was hooked. It's a fast pace story. I enjoyed ever min. of it
Read and fall in love. I’m so impressed with this book I didn’t even know was in my library. I don’t often read a book twice, but I think I’ll read this one thrice…
It's been a while since I've enjoyed a book this much
This was my first time reading a series of novellas and I am very glad I did. The Zane Halloway Omnibus is excellently written and has exceptional characters. The relationship between Zane and Lily is a major part of the reason I enjoyed this as much as I did and it is something that I think is often missing from other books. Finishing, I feel as if I'm letting go of two good friends. If P.T continues with Lily's stories, as is mentioned, I am very interested in reading them. I have already downloaded his trilogy (Deadlock) and look forward to diving into another amazing adventure.
Just loved Lily and Zane, the intrigues and their fantastical solutions to seemingly insurmountable trials was totally spell binding. Can't wait to see them again!
