Prequel When you grow up getting everything you want, it's hard to give everything you have.
Billionaire playboy Link Duffy dumps his parent-approved girlfriend hours after he walks across the stage. Hell, he's over it. Goodbye. Good riddance.
Now he’s free to do anything he wants.
A crazy graduation night party ends with the ultimate hookup. It’s just him and the girl of his dreams.
Then the unthinkable happens. A huge mistake. A brutal cost. A price even his rich daddy can’t pay.
Welcome to the prequel of the Badass series. Discover the defining moments that transformed Link Duffy into the ultimate billionaire military badass.
Collision Course Badboy Billionaire Link Duffy is a man now. Making his own decisions and choosing his own path. An elite Delta Force warrior, his only commitment is to his country and his team. Everyone else be damned … especially women.
In a small East Tennessee town, Grace Johnson is on a mission for herself. They say ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’. Well, yeah, screw that. She’s making her own decisions and choosing her own path. Everyone else be damned … especially men.
Two lives.
Two worlds.
As different as night and day.
But fate has spoken and they’re on a collision course. But be warned. When two worlds collide, you better bring a broom.
Destinies Collide Grace loves her new life as a traveling therapist and nurse. She's in charge and is relishing in the freedom. She's seeing the country, meeting new people and doing new things. She's happy. Almost.
Imagine her surprise when she's called for an interview in California. Overlooking the ocean. In a mansion. No, not a mansion, a compound with guest cottages bigger than a normal person's house. She knows she'll love the job, if she can pass the interview with the queen of all bitches and her husband, a famous billionaire.
Then she meets their son. Link Duffy. He's tough, bitter, and seeking revenge. His entire life was changed in an instant, and he's hurt and mad as hell. But there's something about him. Something so raw and fierce. And vulnerable. And sexy as hell. And when he looks at her, she knows their destinies collided for a reason.
Hidden Danger When you're dead, living is easy. When you’re playing dead, it's a lot more complicated.
Link and Grace survive the initial onslaught. But by who? And why?
A jealous ex-husband doesn't have this kind of power. Of course, obsession has very strange bedfellows. And Link’s a ghost. Aren’t ghosts supposed to already be dead?
Destiny brought them together. Fate joined their hands. Love would be their ultimate weapon … if the world played fair. But it doesn’t. Not even close. So where do they go, where do they hide, how do they stay together when there are hidden dangers around every corner?
Shattered In the movies, when you're on the run, you always survive. Truth prevails and the good guys win. Real life isn't that simple.
After escaping to the safe house, Grace and Duffy discover that safe is in the eye of the beholder. The enemy is out there and wants them dead. With extreme prejudice. No questions asked.
Duffy has a different plan, but to fulfill it, he's forced to make an impossible decision. Promises are broken.
Leslie is a California native but recently moved to Arizona after a stint in Arkansas. She enjoys travel and being with her grandchildren.
She is an avid reader of many genres, but prefers romances with travel or thriller themes. She loves writing about strong women and strong men because the world needs both!
Such a great book, but doesn't match the name I downloaded "His Saving Grace". This was tragic, angering, sad, hopeful, and lovely at the same time.
Badass teen given two options - prison or military. Yes, have seen this before - but still works here. Add to that he has lots of money and surrounded by people willing to take advantage of that and you have the opportunity for spoiled, selfish, brat to become broody, emotional hero. The spin for what injured military people go through was a nice twist. Also, how gut wrenching it can be for a single member of the team to come back where the rest of his friends are gone. It is hard to think about what these men and women in our military go through emotionally when they come back.
Grace is sweet, smart, and amazing being taken for a ride by a deadbeat husband not worthy of her. When he causes her to lose their baby I wanted to leap through the pages and kill him myself. But this as a catalyst to take control over her life and do something different was what she needed.
Her immediate connection to Link is a little contrived, but the more time they spend together builds and becomes believable. It is no shocker her name is Grace and what she is able to do and teach him.
I love that this isn't just a romance filled with sexual compatibility but has danger where his immediate past comes back to haunt them and have them become the hunted. This is where his billionaire status really comes in and assists.
Just an all around great read and does inspire me to read the next in the series following Tate and Camille.
Self-forgiveness of any regret and guilt is necessary to begin healing.
The story had a great built up which started with Link's high school graduation night and kind of like a starting point of his growing up and in a way his first regret. Grace's back story wasn't so far back but it was also the start point of her regret. The story then builds with each of them taking on a path of finding themself, acceptance, meaning and somehow that path converged on them finding each other and learning they both needed each other to heal and love again.
This was an emotional story and I think I cried quite a fair bit, reading of their pain, regrets, guilt, love, learning to forgive and heal. Also reading about the horrors that victims of war torn countries face was heartbreaking and so true.
This story deals with loss of life of innocents, loss of life of military personnel who are trying to make a difference, the reality of PTSD and the families of these brave men and women who suffer from PTSD. I think the authors did a brilliant job pointing this out and making it real that even when someone lived through such horrors, he/she doesn't really live because they're dealing with PTSD and sometimes survivor guilt and that is heartbreakingly real!
But I really enjoyed the story with the suspense and action thrown in, on top of the importance of family support and love, learning to forgive yourself, accepting that you're deserving of love, letting yourself love again, getting and accepting help, healing... it was poignant and well-written and I'm glad I picked up this book and am looking forward to the next one in the series.
I read the prequel over the weekend and decided I wanted to know what happened next. We start the book with Billionaire Link Duffy as a selfish rebel without a cause being forced into the military. The military that will become his home until a rescue mission in Syria goes south after they are betrayed. As the lone survivor of his Delta team he sets out to recover from his injuries, heal and find the traitors who cost so many lives. To that end he employs Grace to get him back on his feet. Well foot and prosthetic leg that is. He never thought that someone back home would try and eliminate all the survivors of the fatal rescue mission. With a massive bounty on his head he finds himself running for his life with the woman who has come to mean so much, so fast. He will need all his skills and a lot of help from his friends to survive and find a forever love. Because there will always be greed and evil and because sometimes, just sometimes a man of honor can turn the tide when he finds a reason to live. A reason like his Saving Grace! I really enjoyed this heart rending book of survival, hope and redemption. I can't wait for the next in the series after reading the opening chapters at the end of the book!
This book is incredible and so much more of what I expected. Link, a somewhat out of control teenager, joins the Army to avoid jail time after a deadly accident. During his time in boot camp he not only learns the value of teamwork but also understands that money does not solve issues. Not only does Link excel in his military career but he is recognized for his efforts when he joins Delta Force. After a raid goes horribly wrong Link finds himself severely injured, tormented by nightmares and facing losing his leg due to his injuries. After an extended hospital stay his family hires a private nurse/physical therapist to assure he is recovering from his injuries. Grace and Link have an instant connection and Link is forced to tackle his inner demons. With anew threat on their lives Link and Grace embark in a journey of discovery and survival that not only puts them in danger but also shows them who they can trust. This book is incredible and extremely well researched about the struggles our soldiers face during war and the aftermath. You're moved to tears one minute and laugh the next. A page turner and must read!
When you read this book, trust me you will fall in love and not want to put it down. Military stories always hit home for me because I am from a military family and currently my son is in the reserves. The things that happened to him in the military it hits home to many.
There is a lot of action from the first turn of the page and you find yourself getting lost in all of the emotions that are running thru both main characters lives.
In these pages you will find yourself laughing, crying, and sometimes even screaming a little. Even with all these emotions I will promise you that you will truly enjoy this book.
Link Murphy, a billionaire by birth, is forced to make a choice after a graduation stunt goes wrong. When he chooses military over jail the journey begins that will take him from Malibu to war torn Syria where disaster causes another change in direction. His experience with women changes to the better when Grace becomes his Nurse/Physical Therapist where a bond is forged that will change both of their lives
Excellent writing yields a reading experience that you hate to end
Link was the rich boy that thought daddy could take care of everything. Graduation party with a plan to base jump the next morning. He books up with the girl of his dreams. But the next morning his ex finds him and then he and his friends decide to jump she grabs his legs and ends up dying. He gets two options jail or military. He choose military. It's tough at first he finally specializes until his last assignment and they are ambushed. He lost part of leg and goes home to recuperate when his meets Grace who is his nurse/physical therapist. But it gets good.
This book is insightful, thorough, dramatic, real life fiction nonstop action packed page turning brilliance! I was so intuned in the storyline it was so tragically beautiful. I've read most of the series but each story can be read as a standalone. There's honorable mentioned characters ,but nothing that needs to be investigated lol! Awesome description of military life, and Veterans personal struggles with family life being a PTSD suffering War Vet. I'm a Gulf War Vet I understand Links character wholeheartedly!
This series has EVERYTHING! Seriously 🤩. Action packed all the way through. Filled with suspense, heartbreak, and sizzle, it runs the gamut. I laughed and I cried as I read it straight through and never once got distracted and left their sides. I recommend this series to EVERYONE, unless you prefer a super clean romance. I just LOVE it when I run into a new author that can write like this!! Happy reading 😁
I don't usually read this genre but I thought I would try this author. I am so glad I did. I really enjoyed this book and the previous one, so much that I am looking forward to reading more by this author. I found the storyline a bit of a roller coaster, one minute sad,the next funny but that shows what a good reade it is! Got to go i have another book to reade! Thank you Leslie/Elle. Chewie
What a wild and crazy adventure! Definitely filled with twists and unexpected turns. I usually can determine early in the story who the bad guys are, but this one had me stumped. Good job, writers! I literally struggled to put the book down. Thanks for the page turner and the excitement. And a peek at what our soldiers actually go through when they suffer through the wrath of war.
Wow this book is by far one of the best captivating books iv read over the years, it made me cry A LOT but was worth it as its a great book that I could read over again. I love linc he is now on my book boyfriends list 😁❤ thankyou to Leslie for writing such a thrilling book that captures you from the start I can't wait to read the others
I laughed, swore, and cried and cheered on Link and Grace as they escaped from one situation to another. So emotionally charged I couldn't put it down. Leslie Dawson and Elle Dawson an amazing writing team that has romance, passion and suspense intertwined. A must read.
Action and suspense from beginning to end. I love how the book does the back story on Link and Grace. You know where they are at in their lives and what leads them to that point in time. Plenty of romance, while it might seem quick at the time it is a slow build.
Wow intense and moving these two s others shared to us a great military story
The realistic characters in these stories are bold strong and believable. The descriptions and scenes are well explained and Involved. I look forward to reading more of both authors works.
I loved this book! I loved how there was an actual story to it and how there was romance and action and adventure. Don't get me wrong I like me a good romance novel with all the smut in it but this one was one of my top favorites so far.
Wonderful story that I couldn't out down. Laughing one minute and crying the next. Really brings to light what our military men go through. Grace was the perfect heroine. Can't wait to read the other books.
Leslie Johnson and Elle Dawson, what an amazing start to this Badass series.
Even though he is a troubled boy in the beginning of this book Link has my heart, spoiled rich boy grows into a man when he is forced to join the army when he screws up one too many times, the one time that his father can not bail him out and he has to pay for what he has done.
While away at boot camp Link is surprised when the love of his life shows up, and they begin a long distance relationship, and as with all good things something will go wrong. I felt so bad for Link, it broke my heart to see him hurting when he has grown up so much in the short prequel of his story.
I am hoping good things are coming for Link in the next book.
book one
This is book two of the series, all it will leave you wanting more. This book picks up ten years after the prequel ended, Link now an elite Delta force warrior, not having spoken much to his family over the years and still one hot, single man.
In this book we also meet Gracie, stuck in loveless marriage and expecting her first child. We see Gracie come home and find her husband in bed with the women Gracie despises the most and next thing she knows Gracie finds herself falling down a flight of stairs. Gracie wakes up and finds out that they were unable to save the baby and due to complications from the fall they had to remove Gracie's uterus, so now she will never be able to have children. Gracie decides its time for change and sets out on the road working as a travelling physical therapist.
This book sets us up for Link and Gracie to crash into each other in book two and when they do I think there will be fireworks. Cannot wait for book two.
book two
VThis book series is slowly torturing me....the writing is fantastic, the plot is with the times of what's going on in our world today, and the characters, Link and Grace, wow the chemistry they have.
When Link and Grace first meet there is an instant attraction that surpasses what you would expect from Link and most certainly from Grace who has been hurt beyond words by her ex. Grace works with Link and helps him to recover from the loss, both emotionally and physically, of his leg and his fellows soldiers. Finally giving in to the fireworks that are between them, Link and Grace share a night together before she is due to leave as her contract is up. To say I love when Grace and Link come together would be an understatement, but then as in true Elle and Leslie fashion they leave us with a cliff hanger.
Where is book four I need it now, I need to know what happens.....
book three
Leslie Johnson and Elle Dawson what a book, I was reading this book thinking that it was the last one in the series, and when I was at about 95% I realized that there was going to be another one, but boy oh boy the ending was just amazing and has left me wanting more.
Poor Link and Grace, what they have been through in all the books in this series, they are sure tuff cookies, I would be one the ground giving up by now.
This book picks up right where the last book left off, with Grace being shot and then just when you think the situation cannot get any worse a helicopter comes and blows Link's house up, this sends Grace and Link on the run and letting their families think that they are dead. And just when you think that they are too safety the end of the book cliff hanger happens and we are left wondering so many things.
Cannot wait for the next book in this epic series, as a side note I can see this book series being a TV mini series
book four
Leslie Johnson and Elle Dawson, this series is slowly tearing me apart.
Again I was almost done this book thinking it was the last book, and wham I get to the end and see that there is another book, which made me so happy as this book series could not end this way.
Knowing the attack is eminate, Link and Grace prepare to escape and protect themselves. On the run from who knows who, Link and Grace make it outbut this gives time for Link to start thinking while they are driving, this is not a good thing, as Link thinks that it will be best if he leaves Grace, then she will be safe from himself and from whoever is after them.
Words cannot describe the feeling at the end of this book, bring on book six.
book five
Leslie Johnson and Elle Dawson, what a fantastic ending to this series. Link and Grace have to be my most favorite couple that you have written.
Thinking that this is the last book in the series, I thought that everything would be tied up in a few chapters and then the rest of the book would be the fallout and resolution of everything. Boy was I wrong, the suspense in this book goes right to the very ending and will keep you guessing as to what is going to happen. Will Link be able to make it back in time to save Grace, will Link and Grace end up together? So many questions to find the answers to in the pages of this book.
By far the best book in the series, could not put it down.
I can not tell you how amazing these books are. Lots of action. Lots of love/sex. Lots of humor. Touching on important issues that don't seem to get the much needed attention they deserve. A brilliant piece of writing!!!
Link Duffy starts out as your typical outrageously wealthy, gorgeous, drug using, drunk high school graduate. He’s an entitled, self absorbed teenage playboy. That all changes when tragedy strikes and his life is forever altered when court ordered to join the military. After years in the military Link is now a part of an elite unit. A mission goes south and Link’s life is again flipped on its head. He has a long road ahead of him, and his new nurse/physical therapist may be just the thing that keeps him sane.
Grace Johnson had worked hard to get where she is. Her friends and family were her life even with her deadbeat of a husband milking her bank account dry, she still fought to hold it all together. Except no amount of hard work could have prepared her for losing everything. In order to find herself again she takes to the road, working as a traveling nurse/physical therapist. What she didn’t expect to find, was a man who could help heal the wounds in her broken heart for good.
This was the second time I’ve read this book, and I loved it even more than the first. An epically in depth story full of laughter, heartache and action. I really can’t say enough about how good the plot flowed throughout the entire book. I cried, laughed and fist pumped the badassery of both Link and Grace. It is impossible not to fall in love with both characters. Link’s transformation from boy to man is awe inspiring and heartfelt. Both characters have gone through their own versions of hell and back, and are fighting to heal. Link is one of the hottest heroes of any book I’ve read. He’s flawed and haunted by wounds that may never heal, and yet still perfect. Grace, a beautiful person inside and out, you can’t help but love her for her heart and unwavering determination.
What ever you are doing drop it and pick up Badass, The Complete series, you won’t be disappointed. I would also recommend Jungle Fever, and Deadly Target, both by the same authors. They can be read as standalone's but are connected to the characters in Badass. Best part, they are all free with Kindle Unlimited!
