Now Available in One Volume--The Jerusalem Chronicles
When Jesus Wept
When Jesus Wept, the first novel in The Jerusalem Chronicles by bestselling authors Bodie and Brock Thoene, unfolds the turbulent times in Judea during Jesus' ministry, centering on the friendship between Jesus and Lazarus. With rich insights from vineyard owners and vine dressers, the Thoenes explore the metaphor of Jesus as the True Vine, harvesting the ancient secrets found in the Old Testament.
Take This Cup
Woven into the fabric of prophecy, a young boy named Nehemiah must choose to embrace his destiny as cupbearer to the King of Kings.
Behold the Man
Behold the Man is the culmination of the Jerusalem Chronicles and brings readers to an encounter with the death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth.
BODIE AND BROCK THOENE (pronounced Tay-nee) have written over 45 works of historical fiction. These best sellers have sold more than 10 million copies and won eight ECPA Gold Medallion Awards.
Bodie began her writing career as a teen journalist for her local newspaper. Eventually her byline appeared in prestigious periodicals such as U.S. News and World Report, The American West, and The Saturday Evening Post. She also worked for John Wayne’s Batjac Productions (she’s best known as author of The Fall Guy) and ABC Circle Films as a writer and researcher. John Wayne described her as “a writer with talent that captures the people and the times!” She has degrees in journalism and communications.
Bodie and Brock have four grown children—Rachel, Jake Thoene, Luke Thoene, and Ellie—and five grandchildren. Their sons, Jake and Luke, are carrying on the Thoene family talent as the next generation of writers, and Luke produces the Thoene audiobooks.
Bodie and Brock divide their time between London and Nevada.
It is a hard driven work of art. A novel that is past impossible to put down. It is very long history for this reason & this reason only must one put it aside to take care of the normal everyday responsibilities. It is riveting here thought provocive. The authors using literary license do well intetgrading their fictional imagination with historical truth. However, I question why they chose to break Jesus' nose during His horrible beating when biblical prophecy says not a bone will be broken. This novel would rival TV production such as Lonsome Dove or movies such as the Matrix or the Lord of the Ring.
Wonderful biblical historical story with many facts
I loved this 3 book series of Jesus and His life on earth and the many friends and followers who loved him so much. These books took the facts which we can trust and filled in the gaps for us. Thank you Jesus for allowing me and many others to read these books. These books so touched my heart and led me closer to Jesus, what a wonderful saviour. I recommend these 3 books and these God loving authors. May the Lord overwhelm you with blessings.
The three books of this series, The Jerusalem Chronicles, focus on, in order, Lazarus, a young boy named Nehemiah, and a Roman condition from the A.D. Chronicles, Marcus Longings. The first two books are the best. The third carries less new storyline and seems repetitive from the A.D Chronicles. It's still good but not as good as other novels of theirs and the first two books of this series are superior. They should be read in order for both best understanding and enjoyment.
Bodie Thoene has been one of my favorite authors for more than 20 years. She gave me a love for fictional histories of all types. She inspired me to do some research on what happened to the Jews between the days documented in the early church in the Bible to the founding of modern day Israel. She has a gift for taking facts and filling in fiction to create stories that are fascinating and memorable.
This is an outstanding book, and part of an absolutely great trilogy! You have fleshed in characters before known only by a couple words or phrases out of the New Testament. It has given me an all new perspective on this old, dry material. The authors have given life to these biblical characters that make it easy for anyone to better understand what is happening during these momentous days at the beginning of the 1st century.
I have just read the first two and am now waiting for the third to arrive. I read the Zion Chronicles a long time ago. A minster recently reminded me that I had recommended Bodie Thoene as an author to him. I checked out the books and found these. Yes, they are a fictionalised account but they are good and reminded me of the events of the first Easter. They link 3 characters together. Gives you a lot of background of how it was at that time.
Wonderful set of books. These two great authors take the facts in the Bible and with their historical knowledge, fill in the rest of the story with an interesting story tieing things together. Bodie and Brock Thoene are two of the best at doing this. I knew about them, but had not read their books until now. I will definitely have to read more.
Then weave the events from scripture, the conditions at the time with a fair amount of imaginations and create a story line that illuminates the Bible passage so the reader feels a connection with the characters. There is enough true to facts with the blend of the fiction to tell the story to cause the reader to stop and consider the application of the Words.
The Jerusalem Chronicles were my first experience with B. Thoene and it will not be my last! Each book was full of history and biblical accuracy with enough artistic creativity to keep me entranced. I felt connected to the characters and scenes as if I was there.
This well written series of books describes what the followers of Jesus lived and felt like as Jesus was among them being their friend and performing the miracles. I highly recommend this entire series!
I already read the first two. Then I saw this deal to have those and get the third which I had never read, so I bought the set. I honestly had no idea how much I had moved away from Christian fiction. Used to love it, but I don't think I can really enjoy it anymore.
Even though there are three books in this volume, they are intricately together woven into a beautiful tapestry that tells us about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ! Well done, Brock and Bodie!
It makes one feel like they are they when all these people were alive. You feel the tension in the lives of these characters. People we have read about but do not truly know. But Jesus is still here within us and am looking forward to His come to earth.
If you are a Christian, a true believer, a follower of Christ, you will want to read these books by The Thoenes! The settings are in Israel. The time period is when Jesus began His ministry. The authors used their poetic license, but they did it well.
As always, the Thoene's brought the characters of this story to life as they tell the Story of Jesus and what happened to Him and how the people who encountered Him felt and acted at the experience!
Teaches Bible without you knowing it. Excellent trilogy, so far I've read the.first two and it goes.deepet and deeper into allowing you to believe in the LORD. It's an especially fun read for.me because I know my Bible but she does reference her Bible verses.
From the first words as Lazarus was in the garden with his recently deceased wife and son, to the final words, Jesus wept. This book kept me glued to its pages and to our Savior.
I have loved every book written by the Thoenes. This trilogy was no exception. Beautifully written, excellent character development, wonderful research into both the Scriptures and other historical works. Highly recommended
I have never given 5 stars. The Thoenes, however, leave no choice. Brilliant! Thanks for creating such graphic, plausible support for the Scriptures. Bravo!
Good read. The author Bodie transports you to the Bible and takes you to the places and times when Jesus walked the earth. Realistic tales bring history to life throughout the pages.
The Jerusalem Chronicles (3-book series) was a delight to read! I livery much look forward to Thoene’s other Bible based book series to become bundled in Kindle!
This, as all, of the Thorne books is written so you join in the story. The story takes you relatively accurately through history as it happened. You are held captive in the words of the story line and carried through as if you were there. I enjoy reading the Thoenes books, as it also gives you a glimpse into Biblical history and the glory of God's ways.
Wonderful rendering of the greatest story ever told.
I truly enjoyed this trilogy. From what I had heard from other people, I knew I would love reading them, so I bought all three at once. This is the first time I have read anything authored by the Thoenes, but it will not be the last. There are so many book to choose from!
