A good read in a turn of the last century kind of way. A bit too predictable from a narrative perspective, since I have read two other of this author's novels. But his portrayal of Native American life in the 1890's was both sensitive and obviously quite well researched. But in Garland's books, if you've read one, you know full well the hero will always win in the end, get his girl, and live happily ever after. I might read more of his books, but I'll space them out by a good few years each. Otherwise they are too formulaic to be enjoyable.
