Miten solmio solmitaan?
Mulle meeldis see raamat. Siin oli aastaaegade kaupa kõik normaalselt välja toodud, mida üks stiilne mees kanda võiks. Lisaks aga oli modelliks koer, kes nägi inimeste riietes nii naljakas välja.
Summary: This book is great for the modern man who doesn't know what to wear. The book manages to mix whimsy with practical straight forward advice. It will appeal to men and women who have to deal with men who can't put together an outfit. GREAT execution. Get this book, if you're a guy, a bit clueless, and never want to purchase a piece that doesn't give you long term value in looking put together.
This book kept coming up on my various book reading feeds. B/c I was looking for books written by E Asian authors I gave it a shot not knowing what to expect. Wow. So practical, yet so cute. Great pics with clear descriptions of pieces, when to wear them, fit, and how.
I never realized women are all about the capsule wardrobe as a way of thinking in terms of minimalism. For guys, their whole life is ONLY the capsule wardrobe. That's what I discovered in this book. Here are my notes:
p.8 I love this philosophy. I mean, you got to have an overarching philosophy for your style. It's the way you're presenting yourself and one of few investments that will represent you daily.
p. 21 I did not know that the hoodie dates back to 1934
p. 88 The field Jacket. I do not own one as a lady, but I am seriously thinking about it. For a man, I think he's right and his descriptions of how to find the ideal one (for this and all of the items) comes out here in spades. It's where you realize he's really considered it and is giving you the very best of what to look for in details.
p 101 - When he puts together the concept of the look. this is throughout the book, but i just really "got it" when I saw the Ivy Leaguer look. I also love that after each look, he writes the movie stars it emulates. So Brilliant! So Easy!!
p. 116 - The whole section on the office and the styles and what they communicate for an interview or for the day to day. Genius!
p. 151 Again he does the same for fancy evening wear. I so love And also, that he dresses up the dog in each so well fitted vs some of the other images, I just... wow!!!
p. 166 - I love how fit of a shirt is described. Even women can take pointers here in case you do not know this.
p. 167 - How to tie a tie. Always handy.
p. 175-176 The what to pack check list is GREAT!
p. 180 - I found how to deal with stains also very genius!
I'm just such a fan. If you're a guy and you have to go shopping or a lady that is going shopping for a man, I would get this book. In hard copy, you could mark out the items that you have. In online copy, you can just slowly purchase each of the items. You'll def have the perfect wardrobe inventory to look very stylish and smart. SOOOO useful!
If you're like me and have no real fashion sense that goes beyond plaid shirts and slacks, this is worth reading through to give yourself more street style. Also, so many good Shiba Inu pics.
First and foremost, Menswear Dog is my fashion idol. (Although for many of his casual look he tends towards the hip side where I have drifted a bit towards prep. Thanks Tom. Haha). This book is great if you want awesome pictures of the most handsome Shiba Inu that you will ever see. It is also great if you want some basics on menswear, or a refresher on how to wear some of the classics. I highly reccomend the read.
As an aside, I almost had an opportunity to meet Bodhi (said Menswear Dog), but he was at Grand Central the day after I left my last New York trip.
Sorry, this book really annoyed me. Lists of "new" this or that, serving only to get one to spend money unnecessarily, seems irresponsible. My stylish husband owns literally less than 40% from each "essential" list but is constantly complimented on his outfits. The dog is cute, the photography well-done but the premise is flawed. I was hoping this was a book on dog clothing instead, that I could get behind, so my disappointment was huge. Better for one to study their current wardrobe and work up what their own style really is.
It's a dog modelling menswear - what's not to like?
A pretty basic overview of clothes and styles, and some I definitely don't agree on, but modelled by a pretty handsome dog, which made it a fun book to browse through. It won't become my go-to menswear book though ;)
Great little book to have around. It gives a great visualization of “The New Classics” of men’s fashion. Pretty much the basics or building blocks of fashion in today’s day and age with great delivery.
Some reasonable classic men's fashion tips. The recommendations are fine. If you are a dog lover and interested in fashion you'll definitely enjoy Bodhi (the canine model for all the clothing) who shows himself to be a real pro.
I evaluate Style Advice based on how sad it makes me by advocating everyone conform to a singular sanitized Ideal and based on that this is not a very great book.
A weird but wonderful combination of the perfect fashion capsule collection for the discerning modern man, all modeled by Bodhi, a Shiba Inu. Yeah. That's a dog. This may sound strange, but it works. Bodhi is a handsome, noble fellow, who weirdly makes a great model. My only criticism is the emphasis more on the upper half of the body - the Winter capsule is more coats than anyone would own, and is very light on the trousers and footwear. As the book features high-end clothing and lists stockists, I'm guessing it is aiming to be taken seriously as a fashion collection for humans, so might be too dog-friendly in this regard!
Menswear Dog: The New Classics by David Fung & Yena Kim and published by Artisan, NY, was gifted me because the model is a Shiba Inu.
The amazing photographs are such fun, especially for Shiba lovers. The elements of a four season wardrobe are presented. But the book also imparts useful fashion advice, including fit, step-by-step pictures on the four-in-hand tie knot, decoding clothing care labels, stain removal, packing clothing, and shoe care.
