The highly anticipated arrival of a neighbor's return home with their newly adopted child. No one is more excited than the young girl who has been promised to be the first to hold the baby after arriving at the airport.

This gook is great for exploring family diversities. The focus of the story is Joel, the adopted child. A little girl is excited about the new baby, Joel who is about to become a member of the family and she tried tries to make a "Welcome Home sign, then she tried to pick beautiful flowers from the garden, they she had planned to wear her special party dress, but all of her plans were foiled. This book could also be used as a read-aloud to introduce sequencing of events in mathematics.
