Complemented by an array of archival photographs and in-depth interviews with veteran UDT and SEAL personnel, this comprehensive history of the U.S. Navy SEALs ranges from their origins as the Underwater Demolition Teams, Scouts, and Raiders during World War II to the formation of the modern elite fighting force of SEALs. Reprint.
A well organized series of interviews with WWII era through Vietnam area Navy Seal vets. I really enjoyed this book. I bought this book just before a trip to San Diego and a Spartan race at Ft Bragg so I found this book somewhat personal and a bit inspirational...
This is an entertaining description for the development and early years of the Seals. Each chapter concludes with the text or story from a Frogman/Seal. These stories add to the pleasant nature of the story. Yes, the historical aspect of the book can be a bit uneventful, but that is necessarily the case with history. The addition of personal stories to each chapter makes for a pleasant read. Furthermore, the chapters are of excellent length so a topic is never belabored in the relation of the details.
On page 25. This book is awesome. At first I thought i Knew everything about World War 2 But i don't. The fact that people risked their life's to protect others is cool. I wish to do these when I grow up.
Very informative book. Gives a lot of early history. Most of it is stories from men who have served in the units. This makes it a lot more interesting.
