Writer Sean McDonald returns to his hometown, determined to come to terms with his past. One horrific night 30 years ago, his first sweetheart, Judith, was taken from him. It's hard for Sean to deal with his past when someone--or something--makes his present a living hell. Soon he finds himself wrestling with an evil that threatens to destroy all he holds dear.
This book started off really slow and I didn't know if I was going to be able to finish it but it picked up quick and I like how the author whipped in a few details towards the end that really connected some of the dots a rider gets a call from a woman who used to go to school with saying that she would like him to come back to the small town he grew up in to do a book signing reluctant to go he decides to go anyway and take the woman that he's been seeing for the past couple years with him upon arriving there he takes her on a trip around town to all the old hangout spots and they go to the lake where the local kids spend most of their time while at the lake having some romantic times at their self and naked woman suddenly appears hits on sane and disappears into the light not wanting there to be an argument between her and his girlfriend they quickly leave from there things get weirder and worse for both of them turns out sean ex-girlfriend who died 30 years ago spirit is still alive and seeking to hook back up with him through possessing the women around him and trying to kill the one woman he loves
Okay. Can someone please tell me what in the world happens at the end of this book? Because I really do not get it. The story held promise and the author wrote beautifully well in some areas... but other parts left me completely confused as to what was happening or who was talking. Other parts entirely were so poorly explained that character realizations were hinted at but never really explained. I kept waiting for the light to turn on, but things only got more and more cloud. Good story, but could have been way better.
Started out pretty good. It got right to the story. Unfortunately the writing just wasn't that good. Not only was I not impressed with the style, but I sometimes found it difficult to follow what was happening. Things got a bit too cloudy. It was a fast read, which I think is why I didn't quit. More of a beach, don't really care what I'm reading kind of book.
