¿Cómo han estado? Les cuento que he tenido días bien estresantes y llenos de muchas emociones, razón por la cual casi no me he estado pasando por las redes.
En esta ocasión vengo a compartir con ustedes la reseña del tercer libro de la serie Sea Breeze, "Mientras Dure", de la autora Abbi Glines, cuyos libros Ediciones Kiwi se encarga de publicar en español.
La historia se centra en Cage York, el mejor amigo de la protagonista del libro anterior, Low, (leer la reseña aquí).
Después de un arresto por exceso de alcohol al volante, Cage es sentenciado a servicio comunitario, saliendo únicamente bajo fianza. Es entonces cuando su entrenador decide enviarlo a trabajar a la granja de su hermano, para reformarlo, cosa a la que nuestro protagonista accede con total de conservar su beca universitaria.
Uno pensaría que es pan comido, dos meses de nada cuidando vacas y limpiando el granero, ¿no? Eso es hasta que conoce a la hija del dueño de la granja, una hermosa castaña con piernas y rostro hermosos que lo deja descolocado.
Lo que nuestro protagonista no sabe, es que la chica lleva más de un año perdido en un compromiso fallido, por lo que no solo tiene roto el corazón, sino que también se ha vuelto muy amargada.
Centrémonos un poco en los personajes principales:
Cage York, el típico jugador de béisbol sexy y mujeriego, quien hasta hace unos meses vivía engañado con un falso enamoramiento hacia su mejor amiga.
Tiene un corazón enorme y no es para nada el tipo que Eva pinta en las primeras páginas.
Eva, la protagonista, quien sinceramente me cae muy mal, es una chica prejuiciosa, consentida y elitista. Con el paso de las muy limitadas páginas cambia y vemos su verdadera esencia, pero en primera instancia es una persona tan horrible, que quería ir a patearla. Creo que independientemente de lo que hayas vivido en tu vida, no deberías tratar tan mal a ninguna persona, ni juzgarla solo por un error.
Como ya les mencioné, al final Eva cambia, pide perdón y pone en su lugar a algunas personas molestas, cosa que la hizo ganar puntos para mí.
Leí esta serie hace varios años, justo después de leer “Rosemary Beach”, de la misma autora. Ahora que la releo para la reseña, me doy cuenta de algunas inconsistencias que no noté en aquel tiempo con mis jóvenes ojos de lectora.
Creo que son libros muy cortos para ser novelas. Me hubiera gustado que la autora añadiera algunas escenas más, sobre todo al final, porque en mi opinión fue muy acelerado todo el asunto.
El personaje de Eva me pareció el peor personaje de la serie y no porque tenga un trauma o un dolor enorme, cosa que es comprensible, sino por el hecho de haberse convertido en la persona tan horrible que era cuando conoce a nuestro protagonista.
En general la historia me gustó bastante.
La carta del ex prometido de Eva me rompe el corazón... La historia de vida de Cage me entristece y a su vez me enorgullece, me hace creer que allá afuera hay personas como él, que salen adelante, que no dejan que su pasado defina su futuro.
¿Lo malo?
La protagonista, su padre y su ex-suegra. Son lo más exasperante del mundo.
¿Lo bueno?
El protagonista y su superación. Pocas personas tienen la suficiente motivación personal para salir del hoyo en el que poco a poco se están hundiendo. Cage es una muestra de que el que quiere, puede.
¿Lo excelente?
El círculo íntimo del protagonista. Son amigos incondicionales, leales, divertidos y muy lindos. Personalmente me gustaría tener un círculo de amistades como ellos.
Recuerdo que cuando lo leí por primera vez, amaba más a Cage que a cualquier otro personaje de la serie y hasta pensé en darle 5 estrellas. En cambio ahora que releí y gracias a su preciada mujer, bajó un punto. Igualmente creo que vale la pena leerlo y conocer un poco a este par y su historia.

I read this book about a decade ago, and let's just say that at the time I had a bit of a fixation on the good girl/bad boy trope. 🤭 This book fits that trope perfectly, and I'm not sure how, but I found myself remembering this book to the point of wanting to read it again.
Note that when I first read it, I absolutely loved it.
Now that I'm older, I still really enjoyed it, there were just one or two points that, in my opinion, failed to make it as perfect as I thought it was back then.
Anyway, it's a book that you can read super fast and I really enjoy Abbi's writing. Also, I can't forget to mention that our MMC Krit is the lead singer of a band (Rockstar vibes, lots of women around him,...), and our FMC Blythe has a past that left her with a very damaged self-image. I thought her evolution and strength to overcome her past was beautiful to read, and her relationship with Krit was even better. I love how their first interactions are filled with a subtle tease of attraction and how it develops into a friendship where neither feels worthy of the other, but they can't help but give in to their feelings for one another. He really is down bad for our girl Blythe and only her 🥹
If you want a quick read, with a touch of spice and with tension between the two protagonists, then you should consider giving this book and this series a try 🥰
