Amy Slaten has devoted her life to Slaten Industries. After ousting her corrupt father and taking over the CEO role, she thought she could relax and enjoy taking her company to the next level. But an old business rivalry rears its ugly head. The only thing that can possibly take her mind off business is the training class at Sanctum…and her training partner, the gorgeous and funny Flynn Adler. If she can just manage to best her mysterious business rival, life might be perfect.
A man’s commitment
Flynn Adler never thought he would fall for the enemy. Business is war, or so his father always claimed. He was raised to be ruthless when it came to the family company, and now he’s raising his brother to one day work with him. The first order of business? The hostile takeover of Slaten Industries. It’s a stressful job so when his brother offers him a spot in Sanctum’s training program, Flynn jumps at the chance.
A lifetime of devotion….
When Flynn realizes the woman he’s falling for is none other than the CEO of the firm he needs to take down, he has to make a choice. Does he take care of the woman he’s falling in love with or the business he’s worked a lifetime to build? And when Amy finally understands the man she’s come to trust is none other than the enemy, will she walk away from him or fight for the love she’s come to depend on?
NY Times and USA Today bestselling author Lexi Blake lives in North Texas with her husband, three kids, and the laziest rescue dog in the world. She began writing at a young age, concentrating on plays and journalism. It wasn't until she started writing romance and urban fantasy that she found the stories of her heart. She likes to find humor in the strangest places and believes in happy endings no matter how odd the couple, threesome, or foursome may seem.
Her first novel, Their Virgin Captive: Masters of Ménage, Book 1, was a collaboration with New York Times bestselling author Shayla Black. There are five more books available in the series: Their Virgin's Secret, Their Virgin Concubine, Their Virgin Princess, Their Virgin Hostage, and Their Virgin Secretary. The next book in the series, Their Virgin Mistress, is releasing this April.
In addition to the Masters of Ménage series, she is the author of the Masters and Mercenaries series. There are eight full-length novels and four novellas available now, with more coming in 2015.
In 2013, Lexi also began releasing her urban fantasy series, Thieves. The first five are available now, with Ripper, a spin-off to the series, coming in 2015.
Another great addition to this world (and now I know what upset Big Tag). I love how all the siblings are getting their own HEAs. It's almost dizzying the twists between Amy and Flynn's companies. Loved how they were both newbies to the BDSM world, and they were completing their training together. The grand gesture was absolutely amazing. How can you say no to that?
Devoted is probably the best novella in this series that i have read so far. And even though it wasn't perfect for one thing.....I really had a blast with this one here and couldn't seem to get enough of it. I did this one in audio and I will sayt that the narration was very well done on this one here. i loved how easily I was drawn into this story and I was beyond intrigued by the plot. The set up of the story was fascinating with the hero knowing who the heroine is....but she was so clueless lol But it soons become apparent for the her that she isn't the woman he was under the impression that she was. I admired the change in the hero and how his perspective for her changes and willing to fight for her no matter what it takes. The largest issue that I had with this story and why I couldn't five star this book, was how the grovel was handled. It was a bit over the top. I felt like the heroine was way too harsh on the hero in the response of it. But what I truly did love was their chemistry, the plot of the story was fascinating and I loved the character connections to the big ones within the series. I was the most fascinated with hoping to see a bad ending for the heroine's father who is the villain in the story.
Overall I had a blast with this one and whether you are a fan of this series or the 1001 Dark Nights compliation....it is one I highly recommend.
Devoted was good. Yes, there was smut but there was also a story behind it. Everything was pretty interesting and the characters were a good fit. In it, you will meet Amy and Flynn. They had great chemistry and a lot of the twists that revolved around them were dizzying. It's probably why this was such a page turner for me. I knew that the little drama between them was going to hurt someone but in the end - everything worked out. Definitely going to dive into the rest of this series next year.
Another great addition to the Master & Mercenaries World. Both characters were likable. The plot was deliciously angsty. The conversation between Jake and Adam was HILARIOUS.
So this is going to sound odd. I had a hard time getting into the book. There were a lot of names thrown about and I was confused as to who was who and how they knew one another. But beyond that, I don't read much BDSM erotica so that part didn't do much for me. Now you're probably thinking I'm crazy, because I'm still giving this book almost 4 stars, right?
Well once I got past the sex, the story really opened up into the corporate espionage and combined with the emotional attachments formed between the hero and heroine, I was totally hooked!
Chances are if you do like to read BDSM books you're going to love this story, and if it's not your thing read it for the well written drama, corporate espionage, and thrills!
Spoiler Ahead This was a pretty good book I love reading this series. Amy Slaten who is also Bridget's sister from Cherished has just took over her father's company and moved the head quarter's to Dallas. Amy has joined the training program at Sanctum and her training partner is a rival. Flynn Adler is Mitch Bradford's little brother he is also the head of Glendale a company that rival's Amy's Slaten Industries. These two liked each other right away although Flynn acted like an as*hole in the beginning when he got jealous because she was checking the other men out in the club. Amy was dealing with her father who was making her life hell because he wanted his company back a company that hw was planning to sell and mess with his employees retirement plans. Flynn didn't want to run his father's company he wanted to right codes but he didn't want to sell it because he wanted to give his little Chase to have a chance at running the company. These two had a lot of chemistry and they sex was hot. Amy was really hurt when she found out who Flynn was. This was a good book the chapter's were long. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling like all of Lexi's book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series with Case and Mia.
I enjoy enemies to lovers trope and this one was pretty good. I especially like that Flynn is good with just doing the coding for his company and is just keeping his family's company going to pass down to his brother to run in the future. Amy has just taken control over her family's company because he father was wanting to sell it and she couldn't let that happen because all the people she knows who works for the company would be out of a job. Of course the two clash throughout the story, but in the end it all works. out.
Hmm. It was just okay. I didn't really get that connection between the H & h that I usually fnd in a Le I book. I think this is my least favorite book of the series.
This definitely needed to be a little longer, as the deception plot and resolution probably needed more to make it really work, but I was super into Amy and Flynn in a way I am not usually into novella-only couples.
Another FABULOUS addition to the INCREDIBLE Masters and Mercenaries Series by the EVER SO AMAZING Lexi Blake! A sexy as sin page turner for sure! I'm always transported to my happy place when I begin a Lexi Blake read. DEVOTED was no different. The journey was a little short, but NO LESS amazing.
A book that takes 'sleeping with the enemy' to a whole new level, DEVOTED kept me on the edge of my seat, grinning with glee the entire time. Amy and Flynn's banter was hilarious and sexy. Our heroine went on these little rants that amused the hell out of me. Two people trying to find solace from the big corporate world, enter a BDSM training program at Sanctum. Sparks fly right off the bat! There is this underlying hatred from Flynn towards Amy, because he believes she is playing a game with him. But that grows into admiration down line when the truth is revealed. A woman who lives on control in the workplace learns to let it all go in the confines of Sanctum and in the arms of the gorgeous Flynn. Just when she is about to let down all of her walls, Flynn's true identity comes to light and her heart immediately retreats behind its protective walls. Enemy or not, she will not be fooled again.
Two lonely, lost souls find comfort in each other. One has been burned in the past, the other has never known anything other than taking care of herself. Together, they will discover what's really important in life, and it's not corporate takeovers. It's finding that one person who completes you in every way...mind, body, and soul. Flynn and Amy are a beautiful match, with their hearts and their wit. Lexi Blake, once again, makes my heart soar with her incredible love stories.
DEVOTED is a FANTASTIC read to cut your teeth on for everything Lexi Blake. It can be read as a standalone, but be warned, the minute you finish, you are going to crave more of this series and this author's brilliance. I've said it before, and it's worth saying again, The Masters and Mercenaries series is one of my all time favorites. I will never get enough it!

What is it with the Alder boys? Flynn is Mitch's brother. Well, 1/2 brother because Mitch is a bastard - by birth and by nature. Flynn breaks the cardinal rule when entering in a D/s relationship. Okay, what I consider the cardinal rule. He went in purposely to mislead his submissive. He did not have open communication and completely broke trust. W.T.F. Yes, yes, okay, no one is perfect. Yes, yes, okay, so guys are DUMBASSES and the way it is "explained here" it rationalizes why Flynn did what he did to unsuspecting Amy.
Flynn...
This was a complete train wreck from chapter two. I cringed as Flynn lied to himself and proceeded to really fuck up a relationship that could be so good. Then this ending. WTF. Yes, yes, this is a romantic BDSM glitterkink where sparkles are being blown up my ass. This grand gesture? Who the HELL does this kind of shit? What was he thinking? For all you "Snow White" or "Sleeping Beauty" princess complexes, this book is for you. For those of us who are more like Drew Barrymore in Ever After, prepare to rip your hair out. Amy is seriously like Drew Barrymore's character. Then at the end, her independence and showing she can do what men do, but better... is TOTALLY UNDERCUT BECAUSE FLYNN AND HER EX-HUSBAND HAVE TO SWOOP IN TO SAVE THE DAY.
GAH!!!!!!
Okay, so, Flynn is not a bad guy. He isn't. He is an arrogant shit who doesn't know a thing about running a company and totally hoses a woman who can run her own company. He better be damn good in bed, that's all I have to say.
Anyway, the story kept me reading in one sitting as I wanted to bash Flynn's head in. I felt so badly for Amy. I totally know how she feels. This is still better than Mitch's story which was a 2 almost a 1.5. This one with Flynn is a 2.5. I can't quite say I enjoyed it. But I didn't hate it. It was well written because everything Ms. Blake writes is well written.
I can't wait until we get back to the suspense. Please, back to finding Theo. Please, less asshat males thinking they can go through some bloody course and become "certified" to be a dom. Recommended to fans of this series. Seriously, do not read this as a standalone or your first book for this author.
I loved the role reversals in DEVOTED. From Amy's strong work persona and Flynn's desire to take the back seat at his own company, to his sexually dominant personality and her submissive needs, it's an excellent contrast!
Amy Slaten is used to being the dominant woman in the room. After forcing her dad out of the company her grandfather built, she's just trying to get through the days with some bit of success, but during the nights she wants to let someone else take control. So Amy enters the submissive training program at Sanctum where she's paired with the sexy and sweet Dom, Flynn Adler.
Flynn knows exactly who Amy Slaten is before he has her on her knees at Sanctum...she's the woman hell bent on causing trouble for his company. Flynn knows something about that assumption doesn't exactly ring true though, and the more he gets to know her the more he's falling for her. Will she feel the same when she finds out he's been withholding more than orgasms?
DEVOTED is a novella in the Masters and Mercenaries series by Lexi Blake, and also a stand-alone book in the innovative and fun 1001 Dark Nights series featuring magical and mystical erotic stories by a variety of popular authors inspired by the classic The Arabian Nights tale. I loved DEVOTED, just as I love most everything that Ms. Blake puts in front of me. Flynn is such a different character, kinda geeky, super sweet and smart, he charmed me from the word go. And Amy was awesome…such a strong, independent woman with a cheeky streak who knows exactly what she wants. They made a combustible couple, and I adored that theirs wasn't the typical D/s relationship. He encouraged her chatty and bratty attitude and let her push all his buttons with fun and lighthearted playtime. I don't know why I haven't picked up more books in the Masters and Mercenaries series, but I'm going to have to put that on my to-do list STAT!
I liked my visit to the M&M ‘verse, even if I had hoped for more Sanctum and less corporate shenanigans. Still one of my fave BDSM series, I’m looking forward to the next full novel. That promises to be a doozy.
This was a very fun read! If you were wondering what he MT team were doing, what happened to Bridget’s sister or what happened to Mitch’s half-brother you’ll find out in this novella.
The book starts with Amy talking to her BFF and ex-husband Frankie about her asshole father and about her not getting any *wink, wink*. Frankie asks her if she’s sure she wants to go through with joining Sanctum. In another part of town Mitch tells his brother Flynn that the trainee he got paired with it’s Amy(also the CEO of Slaten Industries and a thorn in Flynn’s company’s ass). Flynn promises he’ll talk with the Sanctum people about the conflict of interests there; unfortunately he changes his mind after he meets Amy. Also, Amy has no idea who Flynn is.
As everyone can imagine they don’t fucking talk about who they really are. I’m so getting fed up of this “Big Miscommunication”-trope. If it were only the enemies to lover one everything would have been great… but it wasn’t. Flynn acted like a complete asshole about his identity and I really wanted to punch him in the face maybe then he would have realized what a completely idiotic idea that was.
A few other things worked against my enjoyment of the story. Ms Blake should have streamlined the novella more, for example Amy tells us several times about her fucked up family or when she thinks about her relationship with ex-husband and how she loved him and he didn’t love her in that way; I got really bored with it.
All in all it was a good novella, but not as good as what Ms Blake can write.
Another sweet addition in the TM world! I forget exactly where we met Amy and Flynn, but I remembered them both well because it was obvious they were going to get a story, and, they were pretty interesting in their own right
As usual, there is some amazing attraction, sexy times to make you squirm, and a big misunderstanding and an even bigger make-up leading to the finalizing moment for the HEA!
Corporate intrigue is the setting this time around, and we get check-ins with Simon and Chelsea, Mitch and smidge of Laurel, Bridget and our favourite surgeon, Adam and Jake have a moment, and more importantly *sigh* Liam................... sorry, needed a moment there
Love the world that has been created, love the characters that are already there, those who get introduced, and those who you just know, regardless of their page time, are going to have a time in the spotlight at some point
As of this date (May 1, 2016), this is the most current Lexi Blake novella/novel in the Masters and Mercenaries series that has been published. The next novel (Dominance Never Dies) comes out on June 14th and I can't wait. I've LOVED this whole series and have literally flown through each book. Lexi Blake is definitely in her element in this series. Another of my favorite BDSM authors is Cherise Sinclair and they both know this genre very, very well and that is evident in their writing. I have already pre-ordered Dominance Never Dies and would highly recommend any Lexi Blake book!
For the most part Devoted was an enjoyable read. I really liked it, until I got towards the end. Flynn Adler was a top notch dom. He could really get your motor going with his take charge attitude and disciplinary punishments. Its how his persona changed that threw me for a loop. However you might feel differently then me, enjoy!
While I love this series and enjoyed meeting Flynn and Amy, I have to take away one star because.....Flynn broke the first rule in the BDSM I read - truth in communication. He went into the relationship knowing who Amy was and thinking she was playing him. Even when he realized she wasn't, he still didn't say anything until it blew up in his face.
I love this series. This book was secondary characters from the main series but I loved that the main characters made appearances throughout so it felt like you were still following along time wise of the series. The Sanctum "family" just keeps getting better and better.
I'll be honest, I was not expecting much more than filler when I started reading this book. I settled in with plans to use it to fill in the gaps when I was bored waiting on something. I should know better when it comes to Lexi Blake. Before I knew it, I was pulled right in and totally invested in Flynn and Amy. I love how real these two are. This one is nowhere near as hardcore as many of the other M&M books in the series, but it works for the featured couple. The end was very satisfying! I'll happily read this one again multiple times. For once, I finally read a novella that did not feel like a chunk of the story was cut down to fit a word count. This totally did the couple justice. Solid 5 stars this time. Now back to MT to see what happens to Case Taggart!
Wow, this series keeps getting better. Amy & Flynn are a great couple with intense chemistry between them. Secrets, lies & lies of omission run rampant in this story & keep us guessing do they really know or not? While we’re trying to figure out where & how the next move that will cause Amy more pressure in her job running the family business, we get to watch her & Flynn fall in love & hope & pray that when the dust settles around them they’re still standing together. I enjoy author Lexi Blake’s stories, the attention to passion & detail is prevalent throughout the story. The characters are strong, intelligent, sexy & very loveable(e.g. Ian). Definitely recommend to read.
This is a spin off of the Masters and Mercenaries series. A series called Sanctum Nights. This book was a quick read. You need to read the books in order to get the full effect of the running commentary between all the characters.
The games the characters play in Lexi Blake's book is crazy. I enjoy reading all the twists and turns that she puts in her books, there is never a dull moment. The 'Grand Gesture' was amazing. I'd never say no to that.
I liked the main characters and as always felt a connection to them. I had a hard time putting this book down.
Amy Slaten has devoted her life to cleaning up Slaten Industries after she ousted her corrupt father. But she has to deal with an old business rivalry. Looking for something to take her mind off the obstacles ahead she decides to take a training class at Club Sanctum. Her training Dom turns out to be more than she expects.
Flynn Adler finds out his Sub in training is none other than his business rival. He has in his mind that she is no different than her father. But nothing is as it appears.
But once Flynn realizes just how wrong he is, can he make things right with Amy?
"Devoted" by Lexi Blake intricately blends business rivalry and unexpected love. CEO Amy Slaten faces challenges just as she thought success was at hand. Enter Flynn Adler, a man raised to be ruthless in business, now training at Sanctum. As emotions and conflicts entwine, the story explores devotion, trust, and difficult choices. Blake skillfully navigates the tension between love and business, delivering a compelling narrative. "Devoted" is a captivating tale of romance and intrigue in the competitive world of corporate warfare.
Devoted by Lexi Blake is book 10,5 in the Masters and Mercenaries world and part of the 1001 Dark Nights. Amy Slaten is the CEO of Slaten Industry. She´s successful and driven, only her business rival Flynn Adlermakes her life difficult. When she meets a irresistible Dom at Sanctum and they have crazy chemistry , Amy never dreamt off that this Dom would be Flynn Adler, her biggest rival. Lean back and enjoy their " war".
I haven't read the rest of this series and I swear all the relationships were like, "Amy's brother's wife's cousin's lawyer" lol I was seriously seriously lost with regard to how these people knew each other but it didn't seem terribly important to the story.
Anyway, the story was alright. Very cute but I really was more interested in Frankie or that O'Donnell guy than I was in Flynn. I suppose that's a novella for you, though. I would be willing to read more of this author.
