Bentley and Blueberry is a great book to read to children about having a new sibling. Bentley was the only dog in his owners world. He loved when she was home all the time to play with her and dog on car rides. As Bentley grows older, he gets bored when his owner leaves him home alone to go work. While his owner is away Bentley starts chewing all over the furniture and misbehaving. When his owner comes home, she sees the mess Bentley has made and she tries to figure out a way to stop him from doing this again. She was able to stumble upon a dog of the same breed at the animal shelter. She brought this dog home to Bentley and named it Blue. Now that Bentley had a friend his owner was able to leave home without a doubt of knowing that the dogs would behave. Their owner also spent time with Blue and Bentley to train them better for being home alone. This book touches on how to accept changes in life.

I'm not sure why this book 1) doesn't have more ratings and 2) why the rating are so low. The book has a rhyming pace which makes for a delightful read aloud for kids. It insights compassion towards animals. Yes, it sights that there are a lot of strays in the US. Yes, it's by the Humane Society... but none of it is overly political.

It's just a fun and sweet book and addresses the issues of getting any kind of pet. Good conversation starter.
