german girl arrives in italy.girl meets cat.girl talks to cat.girl meets boy.girl falls in love with boy after spending one day with him.girl finds gun in boy’s car.girl gaslights herself into believing that every italian owns a gun.girl falls into a deep state of depression because of boy.girl still talks to cat.girl finds out boy is a cop not somebody from the mafia.girl is happy.book finally ends.
Cringe. Insufferable characters with no depth (understandable, considering this book is only 38 pages long). I think that Karen has set back feminism for about 100 years. She’s very considering but i think that she’s only doing this because she wants to find an Italian lover. Claudio is as interesting as a fly on a pile of poo, so i don’t get her pick-me energy towards him. The book would have been better if he had been part of the mafia, because the only thing that justifies this cringe love story would be adding another cringe cliché about Italians.
However to end this review on a positive note, it’s the very first book that i read in Italian, which means that this holds a very special place in my heart. Probably a space very deep and hidden from the outside, but still a place in my heart.
A normal dialogue: - Would you like a cup of coffee? - Yes, I'd like a cappuccino.
A dialogue in Italy: - Ragazze, volete il caffè? - Io sì. Tu Karen? - No, io preferisco un cappuccino.
I liked that the book has pictures representing the meaning of new words (instead of descriptions). Also the audio for the book is great. It's narrated by different people and a cat.
As advertised, Level 1 and the vocabulary was limited to 500 words, so it was a breezy read. Tourist information on Rome is nicely woven into the tale, along with some gun and mafia intrigue to keep things interesting. Short and sweet. Brava, Signora Blasi.
Yes I’m putting this on goodreads 💀 this was actually quite easy to read, im surprised seeing as ive put 0 effort in studying Italian so far 🤡 interesting story, expected the ending to be a bit more exciting, but what can you do. Also, why the insta love 😭😭
