Only read the first half. Interesting, but I got lost in the story of all the different political factions from the 19th century to 1933 or so, and never got to the civil war itself.
This is a worthwhile history of the Spanish Revolution. Isn't it normally referred to as the Spanish Civil War? Yep. But there was a revolutionary element that, ultimately, failed, embedded within the Civil War.
There was an anarchist revolution within that civil war, even as the anarchists fought with the Republic against Franco's forces. This book tells the story of that segment of events in Spain.
It begins with an historical treatment of the development of anarchism in Spain, from the early years on. Then, it explores the dynamics in Spain after Franco's forces challenged the Republic. We read of some of thre triumphs and of the ultimate defeat of the nascent revolutionary movement. An accessible history of e3vents in Spain.
