Blurb: Tessa Cutter escaped her tiny hometown and chased her artistic dreams straight to Manhattan. Now she’s home for a camping trip with her family. To keep them off her back, she makes up the perfect pretend boyfriend—successful, important, and most of all, permanently located in New York.
Logan Ridley lost everything when his Manhattan-based personal training studio shut down. Luckily, a friend got him a position as a gym teacher in the small town of Cutter’s Creek. He’s heard a lot about the infamous Tessa, but she’s even better than he imagined. Except, she seems to hate everything about the small town he’s growing to love.

description

Alright, this is how it went:

•Girl meets boy after he almost got her killed on the road
•Boy happens to be vacationing in the same place as her
•Boy knows her family
•Family set them up in the same cabin
•Girl tells everyone she had a boyfriend back home, which is a lie
•Girl and boy are hot for each other
•Boy finds out girl’s lying
•Yada yada sexual tension yada yada girl and boy realize they’re both more than they let people know.

description

In theory this book should’ve worked but I had a really hard time caring about the characters because:

1.Tessa was very rude to everyone.
2.I was not hot for Logan.
3.Too many clichés for me to handle.
4.Tessa and Logan’s relationship was rushed.
5.Not likeable characters.

What bothers me the most is the fact that I could have related to Tessa in so many ways. Like her overhyperprotective family and her desire of living her life on her own terms and all of that but it was so poorly executed I couldn’t sympathize with her whatsoever. Logan was too pushy and Tessa was so bitchy and her family was too intrusive. Everything was taken to the extreme.

So, nope. This one wasn’t for me at all and life’s way too short to read books you’re not interested in.

Tessa fakes having a boyfriend when she goes home to visit her family. She figures if they think she's in a relationship, they won't pressure her to leave New York and move home to her small town of Cutter Creek. While camping with her family, she meets Logan. Logan is in Cutter Creek to start a new life after losing his business. He's looking forward to small town living and is happy to have left the city. Logan and Tessa start off on the wrong foot but the chemistry between them pulls them together. The problem is Tessa can't wait to go back to the city and leave her small town behind but Logan loves the small town and doesn't want to leave.

This was such a fun and light story! There was a lot of humor that had me laughing out loud. I loved the initial meeting between Tessa and Logan. They had instant chemistry from the start. Logan was so sweet - great book boyfriend material. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun, sweet romance!

Tessa killed this book for me. I didn't like her at all. She was so negative about anything and everything. She was just annoying and a negative nancy. Blahhh Blahhhh Blahhh

Wasn't a fan.

This story concerns someone trying to escape the small town existence and chasing her dreams in Manhattan only to discover that she’s been chasing the wrong dream!

Imagine being brought up in the hometown your ancestors not only founded but had named after them…. Now imagine not liking everyone minding your business but the township being so small that everyone knows everything almost before you’ve done anything. That’s what it seemed like to Tessa Cutter who grew up in Cutter’s Creek before, about a year ago, leaving the small town behind her as she chased her dream of being an artist all the way to Manhattan. She’s returning home for a family camping trip and, in an effort to keep them off her back, she pretends to have a financial whizz boyfriend….

Logan Ridley, however, has the opposite experience - he grew up in the city and started his own personal training studio in Manhattan but competition was too fierce so he’s moved to Cutter’s Creek to escape the city and he’s loving it! He’s also seriously attracted to Tessa - and her family have them sharing a cabin for the holiday. Life’s about to get even more interesting as their attraction flares but their future plans, her family and life will all just keep getting in the way!

Well, they say opposites attract and that’s certainly applies in this couple’s case! From car accident, family matchmakers and dreams awaiting achievement, this is an easy read, relaxing, fairly straight forward romance, just right to escape into when you don’t want anything too complicated or twisted. A delightful small town romance to leave you in a good mood after reading it. I particularly like the town’s role in the end (but I’m not telling you what it is, you’ll need to read it yourself to find out!)

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

The HomeTown Hoax was an OK read.

The writing was done well and the storyline was fairly engaging but I failed to connect with Tessa, this played a part in my overall enjoyment. On the plus side was Logan's character, he made the book for me, he was a sweetheart and I really liked him.

The Hometown Hoax is a funny and romantic read that will leave you wanting for more...

Ever since Tessa Cutter left her tiny hometown for the busy city of Manhattan, she has failed miserably to pursuit her artistic dream. Hoping to get feature at a gallery, she has sent some of her best work to just about every gallery in NYC, but has only received no as an answer. With nothing to hold her back, she decides to go back home to a camping trip with her family, but she has to come up with a way to distract her family from keep telling her to come back home. Tessa has escaped town for a reason, and she doesn't want to go back to the life where she had everyone's eyes on her. But when she does get home, she ends up meeting a stranger on her way there and soon things start to turn for the worse. When she finds out that the stranger happens to be her brother-in-law's friend, she does everything in her power to make him miserable in front of her family. Yet as the two start to get to know each other better, she realizes just how much her hometown means to her, but if she is to give Logan a chance she will have to leave her dreams of becoming successful in the city behind, which she doesn't want to do.

Logan Ridley grew up in Manhattan, so he is familiar with the excitement of the big city, yet it was the city that left him broke and with no job. His dreams of having his own gym have been crushed, and that left him with no other place to go, except to the little town of Cutter's Creek. But being an outsider in a town where everyone seems to be about everyone is not easy to get used to at first, but when he gets invited to a camping trip with the Cutter family he quickly accepts. Soon he meets Tessa Cutter and the two have undeniable chemistry that only makes him that much more interested in her, yet finding out that her life is in the city with her boyfriend he decides to step back, only to find out that he might just have a chance with her if he convinces her that Cutter Creek is not bad after all.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was hilarious and sweet. The chemistry between the characters keeps growing throughout the book and that alone had me reading until the very end. Though the characters have their own issues, the town of Cutter Creek becomes a sanctuary for them as the two try to move on from their pasts. Tessa's family was funny and devious in the book that caused a lot of trouble for Tessa and Logan, but that caused the two main characters to realize just how much they loved each other. In terms of personalities, Tessa is a fire cracker, and will say whatever is on her mind. Whereas, Logan is more calm and collective in all sorts of situations. He tries to make things work, and he is willing to go back to the city if it means being with the woman that he loves (which I absolutely loved!). Overall, the writing was great and if you are looking for a romantic story filled with hilarious moments then I would highly recommend reading this book!. :)

Easy to read feel good romance. That's how I would classify this one. It wasn't great. Sadly, there was nothing about it that made me want to shout for everyone to read it. It was good enough though. There wasn't any reason to not finish it once I started. The premise sounded intriguing, but I really expected a little more of a hoax.

Tessa is forced to spend a week camping with her family. I didn't really understand the point of this camping trip. They were so close to their town that a short drive brought them home. For me, a camping trip is at least an hour away and you take most of what you need. You don't drive into town EVERY DAY to buy groceries and supplies. They weren't even in tents. They had cabins. So why they couldn't take with them what they needed is a mystery. Then, during a hike that Tessa and her sister claim to do together with some frequency, they are so tired and winded it doesn't seem like they'll make it. They act almost as if the intensity of the hike is a surprise. Tessa's only hoax is a sloppy attempt to make up a boyfriend. This lasts a whole few chapters before the bad lie is discovered.

For the most part, for all her complaining, Tessa seemed overly bitchy and childish. I was not impressed by the whiny little girl who wanted to make it big in the city.

Logan was a pretty lovable character, even if his attentions to Tessa seemed borderline harassment. She tells him she's not interested. She tells him she doesn't want to sleep with him, or kiss him. Of course the reader knows better, because we're in her head. Still, despite her objections, he persists until she finally gives in and just has sex with him already. This was a little creepy for me. This is not an old school romance. This is not a dark or erotic romance. This is a light, sweet, contemporary. There should be no dubious consent. Logan is still easier to like than Tessa though. Everything about the small town and her family that she dislikes, he appreciates. The caring, the neighbors knowing your name, the community standing by you. He knows big city life isn't for him, and he wants nothing more than to make a place in Cutter's Creek. Which, by the way, is of the same name as Tessa's family. This was also not fully developed.

The ending though, made this a little more redeemable. To some degree. She sees everything in a new light, sees the error of her ways etc. I liked her change of heart though, and liked her much better as a character because of it. The secret she has the entire town keep was a little annoying. The time frame of it all felt off, and almost a little silly. What if Logan had moved on? What if he wanted a hand in the building of the project that was her great surprise?

As I wrote this review, I actually dropped my rating half a star as all the things I didn't like came to the surface. I might be in the minority, this may be your next favorite book. If so, I'm happy for you. It is not, however, mine. ~ George, 3 stars

Tessa Cutter has always had big city dreams and the desire to escape small town living and leave every thing she knows behind. She is living in Manhattan now and living out her dreams and doing what she loves, and has no regrets about leaving her small town life behind. When her family invites her home for a family camping trip she is reluctant about returning home, mainly because her family will badger her about settling down, so she constructs the perfect plan to avoid it all. She creates a fake boyfriend, who of course was just too busy being successful to return home with her. She carries on her little charade thinking it's working perfectly...that is until she meets Cutter's Creek newest gym teacher Logan Ridley.

After Logan Ridley has to close down his personal training studio in Manhattan he is left wondering what his next step is going to be, luckily for him he has good friends. His friend hears he is need of a job, so he offers to help him get a job as a gym teacher, only problem is Logan will have to leave the big city to take it. While he has reservations about leaving behind everything he knows, he realizes it's the best opportunity he's got right now, so he decides to make the move to Cutters Creek. And surprisingly he is really starting to enjoy small town living, and thinks he might just stick around for a while, especially when he meets the infamous Tessa Cutter. She left small town life behind for the big city a long time ago, but he's hoping he'll be able to give her a good reason to stay this time...

This was my first experience with this author's work, and I have to say I enjoyed it. I enjoy reading small town romance stories, and this one will go down as one of my favorites that I've read this year. I am hoping the author will write more stories about the residents of Cutters Creek, I really enjoyed meeting them and would love to make a return visit. If you enjoy light-hearted small town romances I recommend you give this book a try, it is sure to leave you with a happy heart!!

I would have to say that this was a good read. I thought it pretty predictable but it was a sweet story and well written.

Tessa is a young lady that has moved to Manhattan to try and make a go of her artist career. She never liked her home town that she grew up in and is doing everything she can to not have to go back there, except for the fact that her family lives there, she might have gotten away with it. When Tessa goes back for a camping weekend with her family, she never expected to run into someone that just might change her mind about how she sees her hometown. Logan and Tessa meet when they both were trying to avoid a major wreck a few miles from Cutters Creek, Tessa's hometown. When Tessa meets Logan, she knows that he is the perfect match for her perfect boyfriend that she has told her family about that doesn't really exist.

When Logan had to shut down his personal business, a gym, his friend gets him a job in Cutter's Creek as a teacher until he can get back on his feet again. Logan has grown to love everything about Cutter's Creek and can't really understand why Tessa has the hate for it that she does. When Tessa asks him to go on the family camping trip with him, he never thought that he might be going with the girl of his dreams. Can he convince her that she needs to move back to Cutter's Creek so that they can continue their relationship or will Tessa's longing to move away from her hometown get in their way?

Although I could not connect with Tessa at all, I thought that she fit the bill for this type of character. Logan was too good and too nice to her at first I thought. He had patience to be able to deal with her. Thanks Heather Thurmeier for a good read and can't wait to see what is next for us from you!

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning.

My Thoughts:

After reading and loving The Hookup Hoax, I knew I had to check out more by Heather Thurmeier. The premise of this one caught my eye, and once I started reading, I was enveloped in the world. Tessa left her hometown of Cutter's Creek for the big city and now that she's back for vacation, she couldn't be less pleased. She meets Logan in an unfortunate way, causing her to have an instant dislike toward him. After being forced to be in close quarters, there's an undeniable spark between them. Since she's lying about having a boyfriend in the city, it keeps Logan from chasing her. That is, until he finds out there is no boyfriend. But their romance is going to be short-lived because Tessa wants nothing to do with her hometown, while Logan is loving this place. Where can they go from here?

The Hometown Hoax was a lovely small town romance. I could completely empathize with Tessa's feelings toward her hometown and the gossip chain associated with it. And on the other hand, I could see why Logan completely fell for the sweet town. Their relationship was nice to watch unfold--how they had more in common than they initially thought and how their romance secretly developed. All in all, another great story from Heather Thurmeier!

My Rating: Very Good

With The Hometown Hoax, Ms. Thurmeier composed a story that is somewhat idealistic but cute none the lest. This read reminded me of the saying " one person's junk may be another's treasure." Tessa saw Cutter's Creek for everything it lacked and was not. Maybe because it was her hometown and she wanted more than to be cut off from new experiences, new people and a different environment. Logan saw it in the opposite way because he had already experienced fast paced living and adventurous experiences. The Hometown Hoax is a story of perception, deception and distinguishing between the two. I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review. The heart of this book is finding out what is most important.

I enjoyed this story of finding what you're looking for in the place you least expect. Logan's character really appealed to me, as a strong and determined man who has pulled up his boot straps after his gym business in NYC failed and moved to the small town of Cutter's Creek where he's got a new job as a gym teacher. He hasn't given up on his dream to open a successful gym, he's just had to modify it. I admired his patience and positive attitude. Tessa on the other hand is struggling with her dreams of being a successful artist, the plans she had not working out the way she wanted them too. She's home for a family vacation but dreading the inevitable questions from her family who are well meaning, but come across to her as nosy and interfering. She doesn't expect to be set up with Logan who has become a family friend, but they end up sharing a cabin together and becoming friends. (My eyebrows raised a bit at the cabin sharing business, mostly because if I was at a camp with my family, my mother would never pair me off to sleep in a cabin with a complete stranger - I understood it in the interests of the plot device as a matchmaking tool but had to ignore the improbability of it to enjoy the story).

There's a definite attraction between Logan and Tessa and when they get some moments alone they share some steamy scenes together. Logan is supportive of Tessa's dreams, and makes her see that she needs to change her portfolio to show some of her real talents. I'm not sure that I bought into her sudden change to accept living in her home town again to be with Logan as I kind of agreed with her previous reasons for why she left and I didn't see that the townspeople (her family included) had changed. But we do get a happy ending, and I liked this couple together and how supportive they were of each other. 3.5 stars for an enjoyable story.

I enjoyed this book about small town life and two people who meet and are on totally different wave lengths about what they want out of life at the beginning of the book.

Tessa Cutter literally collides with Logan Ridley as they are driving into town. She is steaming mad about the car in front of her that stopped for no reason and he accuses her of texting or putting on makeup and not watching where she was going. In the end, it turns out Logan stopped suddenly to avoid hitting a deer and Tessa couldn't stop fast enough to avoid hitting him!

Tessa had gotten out of town years ago to pursue her artistic career in Manhattan and though she still loves painting, her career hasn't exactly taken off. But she has no use for her hometown, especially since her old boyfriend had been cheating on her and everyone in town knew, except her. So she fabricates a serious New York boyfriend to keep her family's questions at bay about moving back home permanently.

Logan had a personal training business in Manhattan and when it fell apart, he decided to try small town living and got a job as coach at the local high school. And the longer he's there, the more he finds he likes the small town atmosphere, the space and the clean air.

Tessa can't believe how her family seems to be throwing her and Logan together while she's home on this visit, even after making it clear that she already has a boyfriend. Logan suspects there's more to her story and since her brother had told him all about Tessa, he's thrilled to finally meet her and find that she's even more beautiful than he had heard.

Things moved rather quickly from this point and Tessa's family even has her and Logan sharing a cabin on the property because supposedly there's no other space! I'm sure you'll enjoy this light-hearted romance about coming home...

3,5 Sweet stars from me

Well that was a very interesting book but it didn't have the intensity i was hoping for.
Tessa Cutter is an artist who left her hometown to chase her dreams in the big
city (later we'll learn that it wasn't the only reason for her departure), after
a while she returns home for a camping trip...then she meets Logan

....and her life turns upside down as she tries to keep her emotions for him but she doesn't manage to and
falls in love with him, risking to break her heart as she wants to leave her hometown and live her life in the
city in order to do that she has to leave him too.... but is she strong enough to do it????

What can i say about Logan...

...he is SEXY,SWEET and CARING!!!

This story has a couple with a great chemistry, it has fun conversations and awkward moments between them, these are the
good parts of the book but as i said in the beginning i would like something more don't get me wrong i really enjoy reading it
and i definitely recommend it but i'd love some twists, more intense emotions (i'm a little drama queen..i love books full of emotions)
that's my personal opinion for someone else i might be perfect just the way it is.

2.5-3 stars.

To be honest, this wasn’t a favorite of mine.

There’s Tessa and Logan, spending a week at a cabin with Tessa’s family. Tessa lives in NYC, and has no interest in going back to her hometown to settle. Something her family doesn’t agree, all they want is for her to come back for good. Have to say, I wasn’t a fan of that at all. Enough already, people, she doesn’t want to live there, let her be for once. It was super annoying, and kinda ragey, the way they treated her, with zero respect, imo. I didn’t find it endearing or anything, it was just annoying and disrespectful that they couldn’t be happy and supportive of her.

Things start to develop and chance for Tessa, which I get, but like she says in the end, it’s HER choice, no one else’s.

Now, since she was there for a week with her family, it also kind of sucked that she was constantly complaining about it. It wasn’t such an obligation, she could’ve said no and leave the cabin.

I did like Logan, he was clueless to what was going on, but that made him more endearing to my eyes. He just wanted a quiet and happy life, nothing wrong with that. Too bad he was in the middle of this family meddling.

There were some entertaining moments, but all in all, I found myself skipping a lot, just because the family annoyed me to no end, and Tessa’s whining became a little too much for me.

The Hometown Hoax is a standalone contemporary romance from author Heather Thurmeier that has Tessa Cutter creating a fake boyfriend to hold off her family's suggestions for her to return to their hometown of Cutter's Creek permanently. Meeting and falling for Logan Ridley, a former city dweller himself, was something she hadn't planned for. It's as if they've swapped places and are living the lives the other used to have. There's a bit of button pushing on both their ends for a good portion of the story, and Tessa's treatment of him does become irritating past a certain point. I also think she could have simply turned a deaf ear to her family's protestations instead of having to come up with a fake boyfriend, but I guess she was desperate. Still, The Hometown Hoax was an overall pretty good and fun read. Four stars! ♥

Tessa left her small hometown to live her own life away from neighbors and family knowing her business and life. She wants to make it in the art world and New York is the city for that. Logan has to start over in a small town since New York beat him and he lost everything. When a camping trip brings both to Cutter's edge for a week family visit, the two are thrown together in the most unexpected way. After a car wreck and then her mother sticking them in the same cabin, the chemisty is too much. They both know once the week is over they go back to there lives, her in New York trying to get noticed and him there in Cutter's Creek trying to make a new life. Can they let go of the week spent together and continue on or can they make things work together with a long distance. I loved her family and the drama that a large family provides, also feel for her since they made her life miserable alot. This was a fun read which I really enjoyed and look forward to more of Ms. Thurmeier's work. Honest review in exchange for an ARC.

This book had me hooked from the first page and as the story progresses I just couldn’t help myself as I am a sucker for romance. There was just enough of everything to make me love the story. I liked Tessa and Logan, it was awesome seeing how their friendship grew to become so much more. This makes me agree with the fact that the special person in your life should be your friend first, nothing wrong if they aren’t. Maybe they will become your friend later? Don’t ever listen to me about relationship advice, I really suck at it. There was also just enough steam to keep me wanting more. This book had me wishing I could sit and appreciate such scenery as described by the author.
The story says a lot about friendships, love and family. And it also shows that it doesn’t matter where you settle or live as long as you can pursue your dreams and be with the one you love. I am doing my best not to give spoilers so I’ll stop there and give this a hefty 5 stars!

I really enjoyed this one. It's light and fun, nothing too deep but completely entertaining. Cute and intriguing characters and a nice story at the core.

Tessa Cutter fled her small hometown for a couple reasons. First, her desire to make something of her art career. Secondly, her family is driving her crazy. She loves them but their meddling is just too much. Now she's back for a family camping trip where she meets the very hot Logan Ridley. He's a new arrival to Cutter Creek but it seems he's very content to stay there so he's unavailable in Tess's book. But the chemistry between them is strong and a few holiday memories seem like a good idea. Logan wants more though, can he convince her that her family and Cutters Creek isn't as bad as she thinks?

I recommend this one!

Love this book it is very relatable to me. It is about girl name Tessa she move to the city to get out of her small town which everyone knows everyone. Everyone will know what you do in one day for the town loves to gossip while in the city no one knows you really she wants to branch out for her art. While Logan who always been city recently moves to her hometown which he likes since the people are humble and it is a peaceful place. When Tess goes down her car breaks down and a stranger helps her who happens to be Logan. When two people that want different things collide anything can happen. I love their chemistry a good read!!!

My least favorite in the series. Makes me a bit sad too since I actually really enjoyed the first two books in the series. There really isn't much to this book. It feels like a sad attempt at a hallmark movie. The instalove was yarn worthy and the family was not endearing. Pretty much an average read.

*** ARC granted in exchange for an honest review ***

I was granted The Hometown Hoax as an ARC via Netgalley, and read this quite some time ago so apologies if the review is rather succinct.

The Hometown Hoax is the story of Tessa Cutter, a New York transplant needing to return to her “beloathed” hometown of Cutter’s Creek for a family gathering in the cabins. That’s where she meets Logan Ridley – a friend of her brother – who seems to be her complete opposite: while she is a starving artist who believes that NYC is the only place she can succeed, Logan has always lived in the city, but couldn’t wait to get to West Virginia to escape the big city life and leave behind the gym that he was forced to close down.

Of course, Tessa and Logan get off on the wrong foot, and entertain a wonderful hate relationship over the course of the week they spend together (of course the family made them share a cabin), until mutual attraction takes its toll on them, and Tessa starts wondering if the city really is the place to be…
“He’d touched her bare ass with his large, strong, spider-hunting hand. Just another day at the cabin, right?”

I loved the interaction between the two, and the humour that came out of the author’s writing. The book was written in third person, from Tessa’s POV only, and she was wonderfully sarcastic and funny. I really had a good time reading this book and enjoying the banter and discussions between the main characters.
“If personal training didn’t work out, the man should work for UPS because he knew how to carry a package.”

However, I was a bit disappointed in the ending of this book, because I found it just a tad over-the-top and cheesy. Looking back, The Hometown Hoax feels like a lesser and cheesier version of Nuts by Alice Clayton, although the latter was published slightly later. The main character in Nuts also reluctantly returns to her hometown, and can’t wait to leave again until she meets someone who might just make her stay.

All in all, it was a good read, but nothing overly mindblowing either.

If you are a private person, then I imagine that living with an overly nosy family in a small town where everyone knows your business and sees nothing wrong with talking about it would feel like being in a fishbowl, especially if your family is the equivalent of royalty in the town. Tessa Cutter hightailed it to New York to pursue her dream to be a successful artist as soon as she could and has no plans to return to her small town except for brief family visits. She's back for the family's annual camping vacation, armed with an imaginary boyfriend to forestall her family's matchmaking tendencies.

Logan Ridley is starting over in Cutter's Creek after losing his business in New York and so far he loves the town so he can't understand Tessa's aversion to being there and is determined to give her a reason to want to stay because he is falling for her. Will Tessa's dislike of her town make their romance a short-lived one when she heads back to the city or will she find something to love about her town? Will Tessa find Logan as interfering as her family and his plans manipulative? Or will she finally grasp what's important?

The premise for this story is a fun one and I really looked forward to reading it. For the most part, it was a lighthearted and funny read and I really liked Logan even as he blundered his way through trying to make Tessa happy. My only issue was with Tessa. I can relate with her aversion to her family's meddling and their lack of understanding of her artistic tendencies, but I wasn't a fan of her immature responses to their interference and her constant lashing out instead of having mature conversations.

The one thing that saved the story for me was Logan. It's hard to resist a guy a kind-hearted and thoughtful guy, especially when he has the looks to match and he was all that. I liked that he was willing to do anything to make Tessa happy even when she wasn't so nice to him and I enjoyed their relationship when they weren't fighting. I enjoyed the author's writing and overall it was an okay read.

Enjoyed this fast paced, sweet, sexy, entertaining, and well written romance, that captured my attention from the beginning until the end. I enjoyed the fun witty banter and the sexy, chemistry between Logan and Tessa. Also enjoyed the entertaining ways the secondary characters manipulate and plot behind their backs hoping to push these two together.

Tessa Cutter is not looking forward to returning home for a camping vacation with her family. She is not looking forward to her family trying to manipulate her in to returning home to the small town life where everyone knows everything about you two seconds after it happens. That was the reason she left it all behind. She had longed for the adventure and anonymity of New York City. So in a attempt to keep her family at arms length she fabricated a great life and a rich boyfriend who is to busy working to return with her.

Logan Ridley has known Travis, Tessa's brother in law since college. He has just moved to town after losing his family and his business in New York City. He is tired of the busy city life. He is going to be filling in as the new physical education teacher for the school while the teacher is out on maternity leave and then he hopes to open up a small gym where there is not any competition. He has also been invited to go camping with the Cutters'.

Logan and Tessa start off on the wrong footing with a minor run in on their way to the camping site. But with the help of her family they soon can't seem to stay away from one another. It is great to watch these opposites start to attract each other. And when Tessa slips up and Logan finds out the truth about her fake boyfriend all bets are off. The stolen glances and touches that lead to more. And there is something so sexy about his confident ability to take charge as well as challenge Tessa.

" Somehow in an odd twist of fate she hadn't seen coming, she no longer had a fake boyfriend but instead now had a very real crush on the sexy man lying a few feet away. A man who recently moved to the town she couldn't wait to leave. This couldn't be good. But that kiss had been anything but bad. "

What is Tessa going to do? Will Logan give up his dream for Tessa? You will have to read to find out. Great ending. Highly recommended!

The Hometown Hoax is a romance book set it Cutter's Creek, a small town. Tessa Cutter, an artist living in New York, comes home for a week to go camping with her family. She hadn't even arrived before her world turned upside down.

Crash! Someone in front of her slams on their brakes and she goes flying into the guard rail and almost off of the cliff. Talk about a close call! Getting out of her car, she realizes she can't finish her drive. The guy who caused the wreck, Logan, offers to drive her the rest of the way. Well, lo and behold, they are going to the exact same place.

The week holds its downs as Tessa makes up a fake boyfriend from New York to get her family off her back, because they want her to move home. Always. This backfires as she tries to deny her attraction to Logan.

Sparks fly, sexy time happens, and she is left feeling conflicted when the week is over. She vowed to never move back home. She wants to become someone in New York and she feels this small town of Cutter's Creek holds her back. But now, she's met Logan, who just moved into Cutter's Creek. Dilemma ensues, and who will win? Or will it end in heartbreak?

So, I adored this book. However, I do think it was the big bang that makes me fall in love. The details were great and well developed. I haven't read anything by this author before, but I definitely enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more of her books. Maybe she will write more books about Cutter's Creek? I'd love to see more about her family.

This book was a small town romance and definitely had the cute aspects of it. If you enjoy reading small town romances, you'll love this book! I've always wanted to live in a close-knit, small town, and this is the best I can get. :-) Living in Vegas does have some disadvantages. Haha.

I have received a copy of this book from NetGalley/Entangled Publishing for an honest review. "The Hometown Hoax" by Heather Thurmeier is Tessa Cutter and Logan Ridley's story.

Tessa has moved away from her little hometown to Manhattan to see if she can get her art work noticed. Logan, personal trainer, has moved from Manhattan to Tessa's little hometown since he could not compete with the personal trainer store chains. Logan is working temporarily as a physical education teacher but hopes to start his own business as a personal trainer in this little town.

Tessa's family are always trying to get her to move back home. Her family goes beyond most families boundaries to get what they want. Tessa's family has a camping trip scheduled. Logan has been invited to this camping trip too. When Tessa and Logan meet sparks fly but not necessarily good sparks. As they spend more time together on this camping trip the good sparks start to fly. Will Tessa and Logan give in to this attraction? Their romance is an interesting ride.

I could relate to Logan but had a hard relating to Tessa. I think some of the ways the story played out was just odd. Overall, the story was good with humor, extreme chemistry, and romance. FYI, contains mature content.

Tessa Cutter went to Manhattan to chase her artistic dreams . She comes home to visit her family and when home she makes up the perfect pretend boyfriend—who lives in NYC who is wonderful, handsome and successful. Logan Ridley, who is sort of down on his luck when his personal training studio shut down but he was told of a job that where there is an opening- as a gyn teacher in Cutter’s Creek. Small town life- different from the Big Apple. Everywhere he goes, he hears about Tessa. He was looking forward to meeting her but when he did, she was horrible to him. And the book just went sideways from there. I get it, She comes home and it seems like everyone wants to keep “the baby” of the bunch little forever but that wasn’t the case. And here is this great guy and he is new to town and he gets the sharp edge of her tongue…it just fell flat for me. Even the ending , which seemed sort of rushed, didn’t fix the impression but Logan was a sweetheart of a hero and I loved his character. Tessa needed to grow up or she needed someone to really explain a few things. As it was, this book just didn’t do it for me.
My rating: 3.8 stars ***
