Hunk of the Month

Rate this book
Bachelor of the Month, Lucky O'Neill, 6 feet 2 inches of drop-dead gorgeous cowboy. This Wyoming old-fashioned rancher can lasso a girl's heart faster than roping a runaway steer.

The last thing in the world cowboy Lucky O'Neill wants to do is be on the cover of Hunk of the Month magazine. He's used to herding cattle, not fighting off hordes of women. To help his sister, however, he's willing to do almost anything. And once he meets gorgeous, sultry magazine editor Jude Lancaster, taking off his clothes has more and more appeal.

Apart from the most unappealing cowboy on the front cover, I found the story actually not too bad. Typical romance book from Harlequin in the Silhouette Temptation series. Our two leading characters being as headstrong and stubborn as the other, yet in a way it works. Lucky going to the Big Apple to help his sister, a total fabrication from his sister, finds he is on the end of a sabotage which involves him being the Hunk of the Month, to which, he flatly refuses. However! Our heroine follows him in the same pane as he all the way to Wyoming.

Her determination to get the best sales ever for her magazine suddenly all seems to fall away as she is practically forced to stay on the farm, sorry, ranch, to pitch in and help. Along the way, as usual with these stories, they are too attracted to each other to keep their hands in their pockets. Yatta, yatta and all that.

I can say, this story flowed, it actually had a lot of moments where you could feel the tension rising, and yet also empathise with poor Jude for her high pressure job back in NY. Now she practically forced to slow down, her doubts on her own wishes to stay in the job lead her to feel torn between duty and love. This is handled by the writer in such a way I actually had some empathy for her. Yet, I always find the love stories of meeting, jumping into bed, falling in love time line a little to fast in my book. Yet, I know it does happen in real life, just not to me - yet!

Genuinely enjoyable read.
