Trying to prepare a Thanksgiving meal complete with Turkey during the zombie apocalypse seems like a stupid idea. Ok, it IS a stupid idea, but for Dawn, it has become a quest and a quest I rather enjoyed. It was selfish and down right asinine to but I have decided to forgive Dawn that bonehead move because everyone survived. It was nice to read a zombie story with a glimmer of happiness in it.

They say the holidays are no longer celebrated because of the zombie apocalypse.

Try telling that to Dawn. All she wants is to bring a little bit of normalcy into their lives. To remind them they are human, that they are still alive, that there is hope.

Guns and knife in hand, Dawn sets off to the grocery store to see if she can find a turkey. I know, this sounds nuts. But people get desperate for the old days, the easy days.

As Dawn stumbles over dead bodies and crashed, abandoned vehicles, she inevitably runs across some shufflers. She takes care of them coldly, efficiently. This is the new way of life.

Meanwhile, back at the safe place, George is handed a note by another survivor in their group. It appears Dawn has left to get food. Fool girl. Doesn’t she know there are zombies out there. What is so important she’d risk this by herself?

I can’t quite put my finger on it, but somehow the author had me feeling the warmth of Thanksgiving. Even As Dawn and George fought off the ravenous zombies that want them for dinner.

Dawn’s fierce determination has me adding her to my list of top female protagonists. She’s not going to stop until she finds that bird!

And George is just as determined. Determined to find Dawn and get her safely back where she belongs. All limbs attached. I liked how his initial frustration turned to alpha male, to lover, as he set out to find her.

I had my fingers and toes crossed for these two. The ending was not set in stone just because it’s Thanksgiving. Maybe the zombies got a nice dinner. Nobody told them they don’t celebrate the holiday.

I received this book as a gift. My review is honest and unbiased.

Dawn went to the market, shopping for her holiday feast. She had to walk over the dead bodies and kill a couple zombies to get to the "goodies". The blood, guts and nauseating smells didn't even phase her. She missed the simple things, like a run through Raleigh on a cool crisp fall day, but those days were done.I was so hoping she would find the turkey to finish off the feast for the small band of survivors. She risked her life to try and have one "normal" day. What would you risk? 4 Stars for this short and wonderful feel good story for a thankful time of year. I received a copy from Anthony Renfro in return for an honest and unbiased review.

This book is... Something. Not really anything good either. As far as zombie apocalypse books go, this one is written like a comedy that was supposed to be a horror. It's about as unrealistic as can get especially with the groups leader being an 18 year old math nerd and not the one adult in the group that would actually make the more realistic leader. The plot of the book is equally asinine, considering our math nerd leader is out looking for his head cheerleader girlfriend who drugged their entire group just so she could go out alone to find a turkey to cook for Thanksgiving. There's no mention on how long they've been dealing with zombies, just that is been under a year given this incessive need to have a normal holiday feast, and yet somehow the zombies are more decayed than ones that would be five years dead or older.
While this book is supposed to be part of the Mike Beem Chronicles, the series' main character has a single line in the beginning of the book and that's it.
The other two stories are just a ridiculous, though the Christmas vampire one does have potential to be something great if more time were put into it.
Either way, this book reads like a kid wrote it; which in itself wouldn't be horrible, but it lacks substance and fails in every way to keep a reader engaged.
I really need to address the biggest issue I have with this ebook. The publisher page is a link that automatically opened twice then refused to let me turn the page. I had to close completely, reopen it, and get to the reading from the table of contents page.
I give this book 2 of 5 Paws

I enjoyed reading A Zombie Thanksgiving!
In a post-apocalyptic, zombie ridden world, all Dawn wants is to feel a bit of normalcy back in her young life. She ventures out alone in search of items for a Thanksgiving feast.
It left me feeling thankful for the blessings of the season we often take for granted....especially the absence of flesh-eating zombies! :)

I enjoyed the zombies and the determination of the FMC to get what she wanted to have a somewhat traditional Thanksgiving meal. Reading it reminded ME of watching a zombie movie on TV. Short story and it was fun to read days before Thanksgiving 2024

I really enjoyed it

I loved the different take on thanksgiving and Christmas in this story. She just had to have a turkey. The bonus stories were good too. I liked The Lot.

Last night after we gorged ourselves on turkey, and the massacre had been cleaned up I retired to my room with A Zombie Thanksgiving by Anthony Renfro. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day. Mr. Renfro creatively constructs a Thanksgiving set in an apocalyptic world rife with zombie threat. This story makes one appreciate the simple items we all take for granted, and offers a fresh perspective on the reality of a Z-poc holiday. And although I know I should have been thankful that this Thanksgiving was quiet and uneventful, there was a huge part of me that was wishing it was the really apocalypse so that Black Friday could be a slaughter-house for all that ventured out!

I have to admit I didn't know what to expect when I received this title in the mail but I was pleasantly surprised and pleased after reading. Even though it is a short read it was written very well and I found myself on the " hunt" for the feast as I continued reading. Not to mention the bonus vampire story at the end was pretty darn amazing as well. I'm looking forward to reading more from Mr. Anthony Renfro.

An interesting little read. A mixture of zombie apocalypse meets vampires. Yes i went there. The bonus story at the back is a vampire. I was a little surprised as well. It jumps about a bit with the writing and can occasionally be hard to follow but a nice short read with an interesting idea.
