Multiple personality disorder has never been so terrifying. What does it take to break a person, to take their humanity? This book will show you the depths that the human mind will go to when exposed to the unthinkable.
Fame Detective Isis Williams and her partner and lover Detective Annette Toni are assigned to a case that will threaten their lives and the lives of everyone that they hold near and dear. Together they will engage in a hunt for two of the most dangerous, elusive, and youngest serial killers that they've ever encountered, 16-year-old Stacey and Jannifer McHill...THE TWINS.
The Twins - The Trilogy , is a psychological thriller containing 3 books in 1 and it does not disappoint! I have read literally hundreds of books, half of them thriller, and nothing compares to the non stop action and suspense these three stories hold! Just when you think it cannot get any more terrifying, it does! Constant twists and turns as Homicide Detectives Iris and Toni hunt down the most savage and inhumane teenage serial killers New York had ever seen. This is the best book I've read in 2018! 5 stars from me and I cannot wait to see what comes next!
This novel was very violent which may put some people off. Me however it did not. It was a very interesting book There were several plot holes in dealing with the police work that may not hit someone who doesn't know as much about police procedures but for me that were very blatant. That is my only real problem with the book. It was thrilling and dark which always makes me happy. If you enjoy thrillers then this one is right for you.
* I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review
This is a very violent and twisted book, I never thought that someone could be capable of such heinous and violent things. Even though most of the things mentioned in here are so vile I actually quite enjoyed this book. Call me twisted but I've never read anything like it and I actually want to read the second book just to see what happens to the other twin.
4 Stars The Twins is the first book in a series of psychological thrillers, and debut novel by R.G Miller. The story takes us on a journey of innocence lost and cracks open a window onto the minds of two young serial killers. The book opens on two young girls, Jannifer and Stacey McHill- excitedly preparing for their thirteenth birthday with their beloved parents and friends. Their party was the stuff that little girl’s dreams are made of, a perfect, magical day- or so they thought. After preparing for bed that night, two home invaders turn their perfect world upside down- bringing unmentionable horrors into their once idyllic lives. Their parents are bound and tortured for hours, eventually succumbing to the trauma and injury inflicted on them. The twins are also tortured and subjected to unbelievably gruesome violence, but somehow manage to survive the ordeal. In an almost catatonic state they are admitted to a psychiatric hospital under the care of Dr. Susan Patterson, a specialist in Abnormal Psychology. They remain at the hospital, in her care for the next three years- until their maternal Aunt Jackie, ignores the Doctors advice and takes them to Harlem to live with her. On the girls sixteenth birthday, a mutilated body is found on a rooftop in Harlem and the days that follow only bring more deaths- the killings shocking even the most hardened officers of the NYPD. It is up to Detective Isis Williams and her new partner Andrew Taylor, to investigate the murders, hunt the serial killers and try to bring them to justice before they can kill again. But these two young girls are more clever, dangerous and elusive than expected- bringing the hunt to Detective Williams own doorstep. Can Detectives Williams and Taylor find The Twins before they can kill again, or is it too late? Will The Twins escape? This book had an exciting, gripping, dark and thrilling synopsis- I avidly read every word of this intense story. And although I did enjoy the overall story, I felt that the author didn’t build enough suspense or tension in the story. Don’t get me wrong; I was interested and entertained- but with the anticipation and promise of a spine chilling, twisted and heart pounding read- I felt a little let down when it failed to deliver on the potential. The author writes really well and has obviously done a lot of research on anatomy, CSI procedures and police investigative procedures, as well as psychiatric conditions. The scene setting was intricately detailed in some areas, but in others they were skirted over or barely got a mention- which gave some portions of the book a rushed and slightly lurching feel. The author also explores a lot of other topics in the book from PTSD, sexuality, addiction, grief and vengeance; to erotic placidity, anger management and Excited Delirium; just to name a few. There seems to be nothing off limits or too taboo. The author had the potential to take this story into the literary stratosphere- but again, the promise was there, but it just didn’t quite make it. I do congratulate Mr. Miller for an entertaining and intriguing debut novel. I really did enjoy the story- I just wanted more. The story is to be continued in book two and I will definitely be reading it to follow the story and find out what happens.
So I’m only giving this book a two star review because I couldn’t put the damn thing down. However it’s so freaking crazy and there’s parts of it that just don’t make any sense. So if you continue on there are spoilers in this. So the Detectives niece gets arrested for the murder however when the ME said the murder happened when the niece was at dinner with the detective. People in the hotel said they heard the crazy screaming that the twins do. that also would be time stamped after the niece was seen running from the hotel. I’m not a detective but this is all very common sense to me. And if the detective in this book was any good and being that it’s her niece she would have caught onto this very simply. Considering she is her nieces alibi! The very first thing that someone does in a murder is look at the alibis and the timeline. I did finish this book because I wanted to see where the craziness was all going. I looked through some of the reviews and a lot of people love this book and that is great. Because I think there is an audience for all books. However this book was certainly not for me.
I was given this book in trade for a fair and honest review. And that is what I have given.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I hate to leave a bad review but I really struggled to find anything I liked about the book. I stuck with it to the very end because I kept hoping that something would tie everything together so it wouldn't feel like such a jumbled mess. The basic concept of two young sisters witnessing something horrific and then later becoming serial killers was interesting to me but the book was full of clichéd characters, ludicrous situations and weak writing. Others might enjoy this book, but it just wasn't for me.
I won a free copy of this book in a giveaway. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
I won this book from good reads, which is always a nice treat. I thought I would like the book (1) because it is about twin girls and I have twin nieces and (2) because of the neighborhood of New York that it takes place in. However, the writing is terrible and there is too much swearing for me. I think perhaps I am just not the right reader for this book, and another audience may prefer this style. - Should be rated R for sex and violence. - Typos. - I finished in one day.
I got to chapter 13 and quit. This is a horrible story! Beyond that, though, it seems to have been written by a juvenile who has absolutely no command of the English language. I’m the type of person who catches mistakes — spelling, grammar, context, etc — and this book is just too filled with them. I’m done. This is one book I will NOT be finishing.
This series is an adrenaline-fueled, fast-paced, thrilling ride from the first page right through till the last word. The book/series contains a shocking, fascinating, dark, and powerful storyline/s that will make you feel like you are sitting on a knifes edge while reading them. What a great introduction to Mr. Miller’s work- three books in one. If you like a fantastic psychological thriller- then this is the book/series for you.

STACEY: BOOK TWO 5 Stars Stacey: The Twin is the second book in the trilogy ‘The Twins’ by R.G Miller - it is a gripping psychological thriller that is extremely intense, dark and disturbing. This instalment of the story begins a few weeks after the last book left off- where the citizens of New York were held in the grip of terror, as two of the youngest serial killers the world has ever known, went on a sadistic killing spree across the city- triggering the biggest manhunt in the city’s history. Detective Iris Williams, the lead investigator on the case, had used every resource at her disposal to try and apprehend Jannifer and Stacey McHill. But the two young girls proved to be more dangerous, cunning, and elusive than anticipated- leaving a trail of gruesome murders in their wake. Even their psychologist Dr. Susan Patterson is at a loss as to what the two may do next; advising Detective Williams that “If you have to kill one, kill the other also.” After finally tracking down the pair, Iris and her partner Annette end up in a bloody and nightmarish confrontation with the twins- Iris is forced to shoot Jannifer McHill, which results in her death. Stacey McHill is apprehended and locked up in a facility for the criminally insane. Iris couldn’t bring herself the shoot Stacey as well and hopes that this decision won’t come back to haunt her. Now, there is a new threat prowling the streets of Harlem, in the form of a sadistic rapist and murderer who is targeting middle aged women. Fear begins to grip the city once more and Iris and Annette are assigned the investigation- tasked with solving the case as quickly as possible, before any more lives are lost. As they are in the midst of this investigation, an electrical blackout provides Stacey McHill with the perfect opportunity to escape and so once more she is out in the city somewhere, bristling with anger and hell bent on revenge for her sister’s death. Dt. Williams, Dt. Toni and the rest of their precinct are all targets, and Stacey will do whatever it takes to wreak her vengeance on them all. Iris and Annette now have two psychotic killers loose in the city and must use all their experience, training, skills, grit and determination to track them down and get them off the streets. With the body counts mounting and their investigation being thwarted at every turn by the cunning and resourceful killers, the chase begins to erode Iris and Annette’s confidence and has them on the back foot. Will the detectives be able to solve both cases before more lives are lost? As the lines are blurred between being the hunter and the hunted, this story will fray every one of your nerves and leave you gasping, as you frantically devour the pages to try to discover what will happen next. This book is much darker and more twisted than the first. The storyline and characters seemed to be more developed and we got a lot more information, backstory and details in this book. It is fast paced, and it had me hanging onto my seat as I was thrown headlong into the thrilling story. There were moments where I was in shock and awe at the gruesome details that were depicted- there probably should be a warning at the beginning of the book- because some of the scenes are horrific, truly dark and entirely disturbing. It ends on a cliff-hanger that had my mind reeling as to what would happen in the next book. This book is even better than the first, Mr. Miller has really hit his stride with this instalment.
I. Williams: BOOK THREE 5 Stars I. Williams is the riveting and hair-raising conclusion to The Twins trilogy by R.G Miller. If you haven’t read the other books yet, I recommend that you do before starting this one- as they introduce the main characters and lay down all of the backstory- which will make this reading experience even more enjoyable. Ever since Stacey McHill escaped three months ago, Iris has been on stress leave from her job- her behaviour is erratic, she’s become paranoid, her anger management issues are worsening, she isn’t sleeping properly, has lost her appetite, has little regard for her personal appearance or hygiene, has stopped attending her psychologist appointments, is drinking- and slipping deeper and deeper into a depression. Iris feels guilty and ashamed that Stacey slipped out of her clutches again and it’s almost more than she can bear. She feels like the laughing stock of the whole precinct and the embarrassment is driving her crazy. Her deterioration is affecting her relationship and Annette is really concerned about her what will become of their relationship. You see, Iris though she had killed Stacey, by shooting her twice in the chest. But in her haste to get to Annette who had been injured, Isis made the rookie mistake of not checking to see that Stacey was in fact dead, nor did she hand cuff her. So, Stacey was able get away. That day plays over and over in Isis’ mind and her character was disintegrating under the effects of Stacey McHill’s cunningness. Going back to work Iris and Annette are placed on desk duty, which further undermines Iris’ mental state. All her emotional turmoil was wreaking havoc on her ability to function and do her job properly. But somehow Iris needs to find a way to keep it all together and muster all her strength as a new, sinister and quite baffling case begins. Babies are being snatched from all over the city, in broad daylight, and replaced with incredibly life like dolls. Who is taking the babies and why are they being taken? When Stacey McHill re-emerges and ramps up her terror campaign, Iris will need to keep her wits about her if she has any chance of saving her colleagues and the one’s she loves from the teenage maniac, hell bent on destroying them all. Isis is determined to catch Stacey, even if she has to break all the laws in the book to do so. Can Isis finally put an end to Stacey’s reign of terror, or will Stacey once again prove to be a formidable and elusive opponent? Once again Mr. Miller didn’t disappoint, he has hit this one out of the park. What a way to end a fantastic series. I was completely engrossed in this fast-paced story, I couldn’t put it down- I had to find out what happened, and I was rooting for Iris and Annette to finally win out over Stacey. Mr. Miller pulled the whole series together and wrapped it up really well, with this story. I finally got the closure I was looking for.
This series is such a chilling read, and I loved every moment! I really am looking forward to seeing what Mr. Miller will offer us up next.
Thank you, Mr. Miller, for an intense, riveting and twisted ride.
Prepare yourself for this twisted psychological thriller, The Twins – a debut novel by author R.G. Miller. This story encompasses the story of twin sisters, who at the age of thirteen witness unspeakable horrors leaving the girls wanting nothing but revenge. In turn of that fate these girls lived, they’ve turned into the type of monsters that destroyed their lives.
This book is completely outside of the types of books I would normally read, but I was interested after reading the synopsis to see what more this story held. R.G. Miller is very graphic is the horrid events that unfold at the hands of the twins. The author has included a full cast of characters in the start of this series to include the detectives working the cases created by the twins, as well as, additional supporting cast of individuals that are interlinked in ways we would not have anticipated when we begin the story.
At times, it did feel as if the author may be trying too hard to ensure they provided a full story that there appears to be so many stories wrapped within, but as we progress forward into the story more, we see how those overlap and interconnect with other aspects of the story. For a debut novel, R.G. Miller did a good job of setting the stage, building the characters and adding depth to the story. As we come upon the end of the story, the author has clearly set the stage for the next set leaving us to wonder what could possibly come now after what we just experienced.
There were a few things I liked about this book, but sadly there were many more things I *didn't* like.
I liked the 'creepiness' for lack of a better word, of the twins, and I liked Iris' character. Generally I like strong female characters who don't take sh*t from anyone - ha. I didn't like Taylor's character at all.
However, I felt this book, at least from what I read of it, was more horror/police procedural rather than a psychological thriller. I get, from reading the description of the 2nd book, where the 'psychological' comes in, but it didn't read that way. I say it might be a horror just because of the gruesomeness, which I didn't expect.
It was mainly chapters about what the cops (Iris and Taylor) were doing, and it would be been much more interesting to me if the chapters alternated and had a lot more 'twins' chapters. It also seemed like two different people were writing - one for the twins few chapters, and one for the cops' chapters. The twins' chapters had a very robotic tone to them, while the cops' chapters flowed more normally.
Some editing notes: Considering my own name, the name "Jannifer" drove me crazy. I really hope in the final edit the name is changed to Jennifer. And hopefully, since this book has been out for a few years now, a *lot* of editing was done, especially with the quotation marks which were left out quite a lot of the time.
So much violance and violent disturbing characters.
Where to begin ? Good cop bad cop, and a lot of violent disturbed characters between. The story ranged from the twins taking brutal revenge on past child molesters, to a a mentally disturbed brother sister duo that survived family abuse only to take part in reciprocating their hatred on others. My primary complaint of the book is the fact that so many editing errors were overlooked. A few places were difficult to understand without inserting what I thought the author was trying to say. All in all it was not easy finishing this book.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book had so much promise!! Great plot idea, but so badly executed. Juvenile writing, terrible grammar, and I think the author tried too hard for shock value that it came across as gaudy and pointless. One can paint a better picture with what is not said sometimes, as opposed to trying to make it too graphic and shocking.
I enjoyed the plot idea, I limped through the book just to finish it and see if it got better, however I will not be carrying on with the series as I just cannot limp through anymore of the terrible writing, grammar and pointless shock-value tactics.
BOOK 1: Words cannot describe how compelling and riveting this book is yet disturbing on the same level. I was completed addicted to this read from the first page, never wanting to put it down. The book is thrilling, has you on the edge of your seat, it's unpredictable and an unforgettable read.
I sometimes got a little lost as to whose POV the story was coming from but once you read a couple of sentence into that chapter of the paragraph you start to become aware of who’s part we are reading. As disturbing as this book was the descriptions that the author gave of either the characters, the murder scenes where so vivid it was a though you were there witnessing it for yourself and seeing the characters in person.
The characters within this story all add even more to this story. The twins are something else, deeply disturbed with the horrific events on one night, these two girls are out for revenge in the worst way possible, but finding out what these girls go through you start to feel sorry for them but then when you put in to context the extent in which they have committed these murders you cannot feel sorry for them. They may be suffering from numerous Physiological issues but what they do is completely and utterly disturbing especially for 16-year-old girls.
This is a completely entrancing, compelling read cannot be missed. I’ll be eagerly awaiting book 2 in this trilogy to see what will be thrown our way!
BOOK 2: WOW…WOW…WOW R.G Miller has once again brought something else that I didn’t think could be even more compelling than the first book. This is Book 2 in this trilogy that is riveting, thrilling and disturbing that has you hooked from the first page. This book I think cannot be read as a stand-alone as you really need to follow the story from the get-go to really understand each character and their stories. This series is probably the best ever Physiological suspense thriller I have ever read, I normally don’t really get into these types of book but seriously was I wrong, this book has changed my mind big time.
This book has you on the edge of your seat, and you can never predict what will happen. Through various parts of this book, my heart was racing for all characters involved and the situations that occur. This book I think defiantly was a lot darker than the first one due to the extent in which how much more determined Stacey is now that her and her sister have become one. I also found that the characters were more developed in this book than the first and more characters were introduced.
I liked that we got an introduction to a new character and their story. Billy Madison was just as or maybe even more disturbed than Stacey and her sister, but that first scene with Billy as a young boy really stuck with me. This time Billy wasn’t out for revenge; he was doing it to satisfy himself and his needs no matter how disturbing they were. But then with the introduction of Stacey into this story, book 1 and Two finally started to merge together and you truly got the understanding of the whole storylines and how Billy & Stacey’s story come together.
This is once again another incredible, entrancing, compelling read, and made even more brilliant yet frustrating with the cliff-hanger ending! R.G Miller really know how to emotionally involve the readers into this story and keep them wanting more! I cannot wait for the final book in this series to see how all this ends!
BOOK 3: Once again he has created another thrilling, riveting chilling read! I seriously am astounded by R.G Miller’s imagination and story he creates in which he brings the reader along, makes your heart race, and keeps you on the edge of your seat! He writes these novels in such a way that he really knows how to emotionally involve the readers into these books and keeps them wanting more.
This book’s plot really hit hard, with the babies involved but never the less, I still sat their completely and utterly engrossed in this book from start to finish. Once again you could never predict what could happen with this story and the characters. I would have liked to find out more information about the kidnapper’s backstory, and also what happened after the events in this book and how one of them carried on after. I think this was my only issue with this book was that I found that most of this story revolved around these crimes, rather than what Stacey was up too. She wasn’t really involved in much in this book and then when she was mentioned and her story continued I was expecting her to be as ruthless as she has been in the previous two books.
The ending of this book really stumped me! I really expected to have a sense of closure after reading this, but I personally think it kind of came to an abrupt ending. I expected an epilogue of what happened with the characters a couple of months of weeks after the events of the ending of the book, so I was kind of deflated with the ending.
Even with all these tiny issues I had with this book, this was truly the best psychological thriller book/series I have ever read, and I don’t think anything can top it! I was hooked, captivated, and thoroughly entranced. With R.G Miller’s impressive extraordinary imagination I felt as though I was there experiencing it with the characters.
The characters were real, and you connected to them in such an emotional way you experience what they were going through along with them.
Do not miss the incredible series, I cannot rate this series enough, just read one sentence and you will truly be hooked!
This trilogy from R.G. Miller has become one of my all-time favorite twisted suspense series that I have had the pleasure of reading. Each novel has topped the first and that is hard to do when each one is a five star read in itself. If I could I would give this a lot more stars than the five. I can’t say enough good things about this set! I look forward to following and reading whatever comes next from R.G. Miller. Clear your plans for a day or two and dive into this set, you will not be disappointed that you did!
Book #1: The Twins This book is a MUST read is you have any kind of interest in Law and Order SVU or crime shows. I will say it’s graphic, very graphic, but R.G. Miller weaves an amazing story into it. You actually will feel so many emotions for even the ‘unsub’. I couldn’t put this one down and actually read it in one night. The emotions are a roller coaster ride, suspense, romance, murder, drama, honestly this has it all! We meet a lot of characters that are throughout the book, starting with the twins, Stacey and Jannifer McHill. I very much had a love/hate, hate/love thing for these two. It is hard not to because you get the full story and I won’t give that away, you will have to read it to find out but it’s a crazy one and makes your heart break for them as your mind also says what the fudge! Then there is our heroine Detective Isis Williams. She is a complicated character and has her own demons she fights while taking on the department of homicide all at once. There is a little romance thrown in there too here! One I truly didn’t see coming but was really in love with when it played out. You’ll eventually meet her partner in solving crime, Detective Annette Toni, after a major twist of course! By the way, LOVE her and she brings a whole Criminal Minds aspect to the table, another bonus for those that love crime shows. Our final main character that will be one to watch is Doctor Patterson. All I will say about her is a quote that is important because I don’t want to give anything away.
“If you kill one, you have to kill the other one.”
I promise you this book will literally blow your mind and get you addicted.
Book #2: Stacey: The Twin #2 One of my favorite kind of books to read are the ones where you want to tell everyone all about it and how amazing it is, but you also don’t want to give it away. For me this book, and series is very much on point with that. I honestly, laughed, cried, screamed, and was grossed out. Warning, yes this book is graphic, if not more graphic than the first one and you will want to read that one before this installment, or it will leave you unknowing of what is truly going on. However, I will say despite the gore it is written to shock you and that shock value is what will keep you on your seat waiting for the next part and wondering what is going on. It is one of the things that makes this book so gripping and addicting. We get to follow the journey of our favorite super detectives, Isis Williams and Annette Toni, and we get to learn more about other detectives that work with them. Detective Leroy Chalk, or Casper, our big friendly polar bear. He will have a big role in this book and you will fall absolutely in love with him. I wanted to reach in and hug him more than once. Also, this is a trilogy so not only will there be a new antagonist, Billy Madison, but there will be our crazy, super psycho-crazy, McHill twins, and believe me, THEY are not finished! I read this one in on night, and since I finished it I can’t stop thinking about it.
Book #3: I. Williams: The Twins #3 “Adversities are like storms… just hold on tight when they kick up, for they will surely blow away.”
I adored this entire trilogy. This book picks up from the second installment Stacy: The Twin and I would recommend highly that you read all three books in order as it will be much easier to make sense of everything that is going on. We follow Detective Isis Williams and Detective Toni Annette once again and even meet a new villain as well as see where Stacy is now. In the beginning Isis is still reeling from letting Stacey slip through her grasp right when she thought she had finally put an end to the psychotic twin’s terror and murder spree that sweeps through Harlem New York.
“Her character, her core being, was disintegrating under the weight of Stacy McHill’s cunningness.”
Detective Isis does not have much time to wallow in self-despair though before a new serial killer threatens the safety of her precinct and the worst possible victims, infants. But, how does the new villains, aka ‘The Baby Snatchers’, tie into our twin’s nightmare? Hold on till the end, it will all make sense. There are several twists in the story you don’t see coming as a reader and I enjoyed the challenge. I was kept on the edge of my seat and awake till I finished the book in one evening to see what was to become of the whole disaster. R.G. Miller spares nothing to conclude his psychological thriller with a fantastic roller coaster ride ending. I will mention that this is a graphic book, it’s a psychological thriller and you are reading characters and following the minds of psychopaths. In fact, I was impressed that so much information was dispersed in the novel, bringing attention to disorders that tend to be brushed under the doormat unless it is forced into our faces by hitting too close to home. For that reason alone, this book has my accolades.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I won this book through a Goodreads Giveaway. It was not good. Too much going on during the story...Detective Taylor’s issues, Iris’ issues, etc. I wished some things would have been fleshed out a little more. Lots of cliches and strange things happening like a character’s hair turning completely white. Would not recommend this book.
Wow. This book is about two girls who saw their parents get brutally murdered when they were young. The story pulls you right in, and your imagination runs wild. Very well done and well written. I just hate the cliff hanger ending that makes me look for the next book!
Bravo!! If you like suspense and thrillers you will like this book!
This was three books in one regarding psychotic twins versus 2 detectives. The killing were gruesome but in most cases had a reason behind them. The books went seamlessly from one to the other without much repetition which often happens with trilogies. I enjoyed the books more than I thought I would when I first started.
Very creepy in a good way. The characters grab your interest from the start. The storyline is well written and a page turner. Psychological thriller genre at its best.
When murders involving males that are being mutilated start popping up all over the city the Detectives can't catch a break. The witnesses all see someone different at the crime scenes but the mutilations are the same.
This book starts with a bang and never lets up. The dark, fast paced thriller shows you all sides and types of cops and detectives within a relatively short time in the story while also displaying the extreme dark side of human nature. I couldn't stop reading once I started and am looking forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
The Twins Trilogy: Complete box set By R G Miller 4 stars overall
Book 1: The Twins The Twins by RG Miller is a physiological thriller and is the first book in the Twins trilogy. I am being honest when I say this is way out of my comfort zone for a book but I thought I would try something different. I cannot fault the way in which the story is written, it is gripping and it has you guessing until the end but be warned it is very graphic! If you are like me and have an over active imagination then this may not be the book for you! For an authors debut novel though I was impressed. The story is about identical twins Stacy and Jannifer McHill. 13 years old when they witness the brutal murders of their parents, now 16 they are now the most dangerous and elusive serial killers out there. Detective Iris Williams and her partner Detective Annette Toni are assigned the case that will threaten their lives and the lives of everyone around them. This definitely wasn’t a story where you could connect with the characters but that wasn’t really an issue for me because of the type of story it was. I may be slightly concerned if I did connect with serial killers!! For these twins to be doing what they were doing it was obvious they had witnessed something horrific. I enjoyed this story from the physiological side of it – the police side of it for me was lacking slightly. As I mentioned before the murder scenes are particularly graphic and I have to say I had to quickly skip over these but it didn’t take away the enjoyment of the book for me and if you are a reader that likes this kind of thing then you would be impressed with the detail that they author goes into.
Book 2: Stacey Stacey: The Twin is the second book in the psychological thriller by RG Miller. Having read book 1 I would definitely recommend that you read this series in order although it could be read as a standalone because the author does include some of the detail from the first book so you understand exactly what is going on. When book 1 finished we were left with the line ‘If you have to kill one, kill the other also’ and this line certainly carries over into this book. The story isn’t solely focused on Stacey McHill so we get to see Detective’s Iris Williams and Annette Toni back in action as they try and track down a sadistic rapist/murderer who is on the prowl in Harlem. Whilst they are busy trying to track this person down Stacey McHill escapes from the facility she was sent to and starts to get her revenge on the Detectives for killing her twin sister. Never has the line ‘if you kill one, kill the other also’ been so true and Detective Iris regrets her decision not to do just that when she had the chance. Again I think it’s only fair to say that there is some graphic detail in this book when it comes to what the murderers do to their victims’ and like with book 1 I had to skip through some of this detail but I have to say I enjoyed this book a bit more than the first. It had some great twists in it and I definitely couldn’t guess what was going to happen. I am enjoying the relationship between Iris and Toni, they are the epitome of opposites attract! Toni definitely helps keep Iris’s temper in check! There was only one small part that I really didn’t like and maybe there should be some warnings with this book with regards to content especially as it involves animals. The story left us on a bit of a cliff-hanger and I’m certainly looking forward to the final book and the conclusion to this series.
Book 3: I Williams I Williams is the final book in the psychological thriller Twins Series by R G Miller. I think it is important that the previous 2 books in this series have been read first so that you have a full understand of the relationship between all of the characters. I wanted to read this book because having read the previous 2 I wanted to see what happened to Stacey and to see if Iris would finally capture the remaining half of New York’s notorious teenage serial killers. I have to say I found this book really hard to read, I had prepared myself for it to be graphic like the first 2 but I wasn’t really prepared for the content of this book and I do think the author needs to put a warning about it. As with the other books there are other storylines running at the same time as the Stacey McHill one and in this book it is about babies being snatched from their pushchairs and replaced by life like dolls – I figured out when the chapters were going to be about this storyline and I had to skip them for me I personally don’t like reading storylines that involve children. Apart from the parts I did have to skip over there were some good twists in this book that I enjoyed and definitely didn’t see coming. I have really grown to like Iris and Toni as a working/professional couple and outside of their job through watching their personal relationship grow – they are certainly good for each other! You definitely cannot fault the author for the fast paced trilogy that he has written, it was detailed and it was interesting to read about the different psychological issues that some people can have and how they can be triggered. I did enjoy it for the most part even if I did find it a bit graphic at times.
A good story line. I skipped over the very detailed consensual sex stuff . That's not my cup of tea. All in all though, it was a well written book with likable main characters.
Wow, very exciting. If you like a great serial killer book, you must read this one. Now it has some very gruesome scenes and they are written so visually that you feel as though your in the room with the victim.
These books were so riddled with grammatical errors...really poor editing. The story was good, gruesome and exasperating. Yes, I’m a grammar freak & it got to where I was not following the story so much as looking for errors. If you don’t care about that, go for it.
