Collars and Book Seven

Eli may only be thirty, but he has had enough of pretend submissives. When he spies Jarod in a BDSM club, everything about the man screams submission. So what if Jarod is probably twenty years older than Eli. What does age matter, anyway? All he can see is what he’s always wanted—a sub who wants to serve.

Jarod spent twenty-four years with his Master before Fate took him. Four years on, Jarod is still lost, so when a young Dom takes charge, Jarod rolls with it and finds himself serving again. But he keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop. Because there’s going to come a point when Eli realizes he’s a laughingstock in the club. Who would want to be seen with a fifty-year-old sub?

After several missteps, Eli realizes that in order to find happiness, they will need friends who will understand. At a friend’s insistence, he visits Collars & Cuffs, where they are met with open arms. As they settle in to their new life, Eli begins to see things differently and he dares to think he can have it all. Until a phone call threatens to take it all away….

This is my favorite Collars & Cuffs book since An Unlocked Heart, Alex and Leo's story.

The cover (dear god, that COVER!), the writing, the characters ... perfection.

Jarod is adrift following the tragic, unexpected death of his Master. He only wants to serve, but he feels old and used up.

Jarod broke my heart into a million little pieces. He's giving, selfless, and kind, a true sub, but also lonely, so lonely. He cleans the big house his Master left him, and when it's clean, he cleans some more. He talks to his mother (COOLEST. MOTHER. EVER.), who encourages him to get out there, but he resists.

Every time he visits a club and joins the subs, he is mocked and ridiculed.

Until Eli.

Eli is 20 years Jarod's junior and a Dom who's never had a sub of his own. But the moment Eli sets eyes on Jarod, he knows Jarod is the one.

Initially, Eli isn't a great Dom. He thinks only about himself, his desires. He doesn't ask about Jarod's wants, Jarod's needs. Eli is young and impulsive. He asks Jarod to stay the first night he meets him. And Jarod says, yes; of course he does. Jarod just wants to belong to someone.

Eli really steps up to the plate when Jarod has a medical emergency, and I believed in their HEA with all my heart.

Former MCs are present in the book. Collars & Cuffs is a BDSM club that has always been about acceptance and camaraderie. I especially enjoyed getting to know Scott and Ben better. Their story was not my favorite, but I loved Scott in this book. He's a wonderful friend to Jarod.

The surprise the subs help Peter plan for Master Thomas had me grinning like a fool. JOY!

This series has taught me much about BDSM. K.C. does her research and knows people who live the lifestyle, so these characters and setting feel authentic. BDSM isn't just whips and chains and ball torture. These can be a part of it, but it's more about the WAY you love, the way you LIVE.

Doms don't have all the power, far from it. It's powerful and BRAVE to submit. And the best Doms give as much as they get.

Eli and Jarod enjoy wax play and sensory deprivation. They kiss and caress. Eli loves to tease Jarod and deny him orgasm, but sometimes they are just Jarod & Eli, not Sir and his pet.

This is a beautiful story about second chances and new love. It's tender and sexy and REAL.

I fell in love with Eli and Jarod (especially Jarod!).

K.C. has one more book planned, which will conclude this series. It will be so hard to say good-bye to these men.

Jarod’s master was gone (after being his submissive for twenty-four years) and still, after four years he couldn’t move on. He needed someone to care for, having a person to belong to. Without his master, he felt lost every day. But he was fifty-year-old and in his age finding a new Dom was a bit difficult.

Eli is in his twenties and got tired of pretend subs. He was jealous of his friends; he wanted to be happy like them. He wanted what they had; his special person, someone who would put their trust in him… Until he saw him at the club. He found him interesting and wanted to know his story…

Told in dual POV, 1st person. It’s the seventh installment in the "Collars & Cuffs" series and it’s better if you read it in order. I liked both characters, Eli & Jarod were perfect with each other. The writing was good just dragged at some places, a bit angsty with a huge age gap. Overall, I enjoyed this and hope you like it as well!

Finally, a good book that I really enjoyed. I'm not going to say much, because I'm pissed at myself for having missed the 6th book by mistake, so I'll keep it short and go to start book 6.

I liked Eli and Jarod. Their characterizations and what they were like in their roles were explicitly clear. It irks me that now all the books seem to have some sort of accident that brings the characters closer emotionally. I feel there should be something other than this hurt/comfort, as it is getting to be repetitive because of my reading them in order right after each other.

I loved the surprise the subs put together for Thomas's birthday. I even liked the scenes that were mentioned. It was a pretty good book, considering my not-so-enthusiastic reaction to the previous few books.

Now I am going to satiate my curiosity about this mysterious Alan character and what happened to change Dorian so much.

This was a good book. My favorite of the series so far. But it contains my biggest pet peeve in BDSM books. The sub being treated as a child.

I'm not sure why, but it always bugs me when subs act like children. Their Doms scolding and teasing them that they are giggling hens. And brats. I know that is a theme in many, many BDSM books, especially ones in a series of books where everyone knows everyone else. At one point in the book, the 7 subs are having a slumber party. And they had to get permission from their Doms to attend. *shrugs* It's just too weird for me.

Jarod's Dom calling the slumber party:

“Yes, Sir. We’ve been watching a film and eating popcorn,” I lied.

“Hi, Master Eli!” the others yelled in unison. I gave them a mock scowl, and they collapsed into fits of giggles. The atmosphere had been like that for the past two hours, and I’d loved it so far.

And here are the Doms, talking about the sub's slumber party:

“Hey, maybe we should organize our own slumber party!” Ben called out. “We could sit around and do each other’s nails and hair, and tell stories about the boys we like.” His suggestion was greeted by a chorus of guffaws and laughter.

See what I mean?

But the redeeming part of this book was sweet, sweet Jarod, an older man who lost his Master of 24 years in a plane crash. He was wonderful and helped to up my rating on this one.

If you don't mind the child/parent dynamic between subs and Doms, you will love this book.

AND THAT COVER!

I didn’t think I could like another couple in this series as much as Alex and Leo from An Unlocked Heart. Peter and Thomas (Trusting Thomas) came very close, but K.C. Wells and Parker Williams proved me so wrong with how much I fell in love with Jarod and Eli. Age differences abound in the series but now the roles are reversed with sub Jarod 20 years Eli’s senior.

First, the cover is just beautiful. It reminds me of the first time Eli sees Jarod, kneeling in the club amongst the younger “subs”. Jarod is still grieving the unexpected death of his Master and lover Phillip four years ago. They were together for 24 years and Jarod is lost in his grief and depression, wandering around their large home and keeping it as he did for his Master. Even his mother urges him to get back out and find someone to serve. Jarod knows he is “too old” for the clubs, especially since he is truly looking for someone to serve, though he gives it a try and returns to Spitfire, the club he used to go with Phillip. Over the years he’s been away, the scene has changed so much. The younger subs are different and both the Doms and subs are scornful and mean, ignoring or ridiculing him. Eli, however, sees perfection. Eli is 30 and is looking for a true sub to serve him. He is tired of the way the club has changed and the subs that are there just for recreation. When he sees Jarod’s hopefulness dashed by a Dom, he goes for it and takes him home.

While Eli is enthusiastic and serious about wanting a sub to serve him, he is not very good in the execution, leaving for work early the next morning with Jarod at his house receiving no real instructions or attention to his needs. Having never had a sub for more than play, Eli really doesn’t know what to do. Luckily he has his friend Ben (from Someone to Keep Me) to give him guidance. Ben knows what Eli is looking for and has been trying to get Eli to come to Collars & Cuffs for some time now, but it is not until a horrifying experience when he brings Jarod back to Spitfire that Eli takes Ben’s invitation.

“I held on to him tightly. He was mine, and I’d be damned if I would lose him.”

This moment is a turning point for both men and we are treated to seeing Jarod find a place where he is accepted and he can be himself. I’ll admit while Ben and Scott’s story wasn’t my favorite of the series, Ben seems to be wiser from his experiences and was a great support to Eli, while his sub, Scott, finds something special in the relationship he develops with Jarod.

Jarod’s grief and need for a connection just broke my heart. Shattered it. The authors did such a good job in getting across his feelings of hope and despair, I was lost in it. Jarod not only has to deal with his grief, but he also finds he is facing some new issues revolving around the large age difference between Eli and himself. Jarod has so much to overcome, I found it fitting that Eli is relatively “uncomplicated”. While he needs help learning how to be a good Dom for Jarod, he has no major hang-ups or serious outside issues so he is able to fully commit to their relationship and his own growth as Jarod’s Dom.

While Jarod’s passion is service, he and Eli also explore a variety of kinks including sounding and wax play. Their connection is palpable, whether it’s a tender loving moment or one of the intense, kinky demonstrations or scenes, these two burn up the pages with their chemistry.

It wasn’t just the scenes between Eli and Jarod that pulled on my heart though and without spoiling anything, I found myself completely broken by a scene between Jarod and one of the young subs late in the book (when you read it you’ll know it). While a lot of Jarod’s story is heartbreaking, he really does come back to life at Collars & Cuffs. There is also happiness and joy as Jarod finds that his age isn’t always the barrier he thinks it is and he soon holds a special place with the subs we’ve come to know throughout the series.

I know I’ve mentioned a lot of the prior books, and all the characters show up here, but if you haven’t read them yet, you can jump in here if you just can’t wait to read the rest of the books. Both Jarod and Eli are new to the series and their story can be read on its own, though regular readers will have more of an appreciation for all the secondary characters, especially Peter who has come so far since his first appearance.

I can’t say enough about the wonderful job K.C. Wells and Parker Williams did with this story. It was beautiful on so many levels and has secured a spot on my favorites list. After Jarod and Eli’s happy ending is secured, there is a brief set up for what will be the final story in the series, and I know as much as I’m looking forward to that book, I’m really going to miss this group of characters. That’s what re-reads are for though, right?

This story is all about casting off labels and stereotypes I usually come across in BDSM books.

A fifty year old man can't sub to a thirty year old Dom. A Dom doesn't make mistakes; he has all the answers. A Dom isn't usually a working class hero, like a lorry driver. A Dom doesn't kneel at his sub's feet nor does he cry in his arms.

Bullshit.

I won't proclaim myself a BDSM expert, far from it. But I do believe that this book gets it. Not just the sex and the scenes (which is not how Jarod and Eli start their relationship, these will come later), but the lifestyle itself.

Jarod is one amazing man. He lost his Master and now he doesn't belong anywhere. Eli wants a sub to make him whole.

Their connection is instant, but this is not insta love. From the moment Eli sees Jarod kneeling on the floor, from the moment Jarod hears Eli's voice whispering in his ear, they know they are a perfect match. And because they both want it so bad, they act impulsively.

"I saw you there, kneeling on the floor, and everything I’d ever wanted in my life was there. I grabbed it with both hands and didn’t want to let go."

But Eli is a brave man and owns his mistakes. And he just won't let Jarod get away from him, no matter what.

This was my favorite book from the series and I can't recommend it highly enough.

“But how much am I worth? I took care of him. I take care of you. So you’ll have to tell me: how much am I worth?”

“How much are you worth? You came into my life and fulfilled a need I’d always had, and you’re allowing me to take care of you.” I smiled. “How much are you worth? Pet, you’re absolutely priceless.”

He totally is. Jarod will always have a special place in my heart. What an amazing character.

I feel sad. I loved the first book in this series so much that I’ve been trying to get that same feeling back when reading the other books. This book was my last hope. But it didn’t deliver.

The age thing was actually pretty well done, with Jarod being a 50 year old submissive and Eli a 30 year old Dom. I did like them together and the romance was sweet.

But I got more and more annoyed with the way the rest of the subs were acting. One of my main pet peeves is unrealistic bonding/friendship. If you’ve met someone once, you are not BFFs for life. That sort of thing takes time. But no, the subs meet Jarod, and BAM, he is their best friend.

”You’re more than our friend, Jarod. You’re like… well, like a surrogate father to some of us.”

description

And I had a feeling the writers kept forgetting the subs are men too, and not teenage girls. They actually have a slumber party…

“Hey, maybe we should organize our own slumber party!” Ben called out. “We could sit around and do each other’s nails and hair, and tell stories about the boys we like.” His suggestion was greeted by a chorus of guffaws and laughter.

These are the Doms talking about the slumber party the subs were having. These guys are grown men, of course they react that way to the suggestion of a slumber party. But it is totally okay for all the subs to like it. What are they, twelve?

I get what the writers were trying to accomplish. They wanted lonely Jarod to find a home, and a family. But this is not the way…

There were parts I really did like, but overall this book just annoyed me.

I received an ARC from the author.

It started some time ago, but ever since I was first introduced to the Collars and Cuffs universe and all the men who inhabit it, I’ve been hooked. In fact it’s been more than that. Every single book has seen me fall in love with the main characters in it while the feelings I already had for the men I had met in previous titles grew stronger and deeper.

Dom of Ages is no exception to that rule. I fell as hard and as deeply for Eli and Jarod as I’ve done for all the others. These two men took me for an emotional ride from the first chapter until the very last word. It would have been impossible not to feel Jarod’s pain and despair. Getting older isn’t easy for anyone, but how much harder must it be when you’re part of a culture where youth and beauty appear to set the standard. Especially if you find yourself starting from scratch after a dramatic loss has ended a twenty-four year relationship that was your whole world.

Eli is a far more straightforward or maybe I should say less complex character than Jarod. And that is perfect. Jarod needs that calm in his life; a rock, strong enough to support him and stable enough to ground him when his fears and insecurities threaten to overtake him. And before you think all these qualities might make Eli a boring character, let me reassure you; he is a delight to read about and the most charmingly flawed character I have encountered in a book in a very long time.

When the story starts Jerod is a recluse, convinced his life ended when his Master died and sure he is just too old to ever serve another. What is heartbreaking is that the thought of friendships doesn’t even cross his mind. His journey until he reaches the point where he realises he is valued and loved, not just by Eli but also by the others he meets at Collars and Cuffs, was a pure joy to read.

What I love about this series is that not only does each book focus on a different aspect of BDSM they also deal with more general issues. In this case we’re looking at grief, a twenty year age difference and the frailties connected with getting older. And while BDSM may only be a theoretical indulgence for some readers, the other issues are ones we’re all familiar with in one way or another, making it very easy to get wrapped up in the stories and attached to the characters.

It goes without saying that this book, like its predecessors was smoothly written, a captivating read and incredibly hot. Jerod and Eli smoulder together regardless of whether they engage in a ‘simple’—if there is such a thing—kiss or a full blown scene. And those scenes, as always, are vivid and imaginative. Did I mention ‘hot’?

Most of the time I’m not a very emotional reader; I get chocked up at times, but I rarely cry. There was one scene in Dom of Ages during which I had to stop reading because I couldn’t see the words any more for the tears. And strange as it may sound, that wasn’t a scene centred around Jarod and Eli—although they have plenty of very touching scenes too. I’m not going to mention anything else about it except to say that this one scene lifted the book from very good to amazing. I’m convinced all Collars and Cuffs fans are going to be elated after they’ve read this book. And while I’m sad to think that the next one will be the last in the series, I also can’t wait to read it. I’ve got a feeling we’ve just been prepared for a glorious finale.

If there's such a thing as BDSM-lite this book is it. Also I thought I recognised some of the characters, and it turns out I've read the first book, but forgotten about it. Will have to do a re-read to see how it was. If nothing else my dentist will be happy with my reading these achingly sweet romances, if the first one is like this book.

Jarod is a 50 year old sub. He lost his partner and Dom of 24 years in a plane crash 4 years ago. Now he is living in a huge house, and cleaning like the dust is multiplying by the minute, since he has nothing else to do. His old Dom left him the house and quite a bit of money.

Eli is a 30 year old Dom who is friends with Ben from Collars and Cuffs, but for some reason Eli does not feel like going to that club. He frequents other clubs closer to his home, but is having trouble finding a sub, that is an ACTUAL sub in the second-rate clubs he is visiting (thank you 50 shades)
description

Jarod is close to his mother, that knows AND accepts his lifestyle, and she 'bullies' him into going out one night, where he meets Eli.
What follows is a LOT of don'ts in regards to a BDSM relationship. Eli brings Jarod home the first night, and after NO negotiation or talk about limits, Eli moves Jarod into his home to do his washing and cleaning.
This was SO weird, and I had trouble accepting that Jarod would be okay with this. What exactly did Jarod get out of this? Eli gets a stern talking-to from Ben, but does not listen, which has some heartbreaking consequences for Jarod.

Finally Eli steps up, and takes his responsibilities as a Dom seriously, and the relationship that follows is... Nice. Just nice. All this takes place over not a lot of time, and it feels... Rushed?!
Also the so-called chemistry between Eli and Jarod was weird. I mean, Eli used Jarod as a sort of house slave, but all of a sudden they're kissing and want to have sex... It felt weird, and I did not get their chemistry at all.

They start visiting Collars and Cuffs where the other subs give a warm welcome to Jarod, and the rest of the book was so freaking sappy and so suger-sweet that my teeth were aching. There is a situation where there age difference is underscored, and Jarod is having a big crisis, but fear not, magic-Dom is on the spot and heals all.
I really understand the term: SugarKink now!
This is NOT BDSM, this is the lite version and a sweet SWEET romance, that has some nice points, but I was not convinced of either their chemistry or their relationship.

Audio Book: Joel Leslie – It didn’t work for me
Book Cover: 3

I think it’s time I throw the towel in on the series. I keep coming back because I like BDSM books but it just doesn’t work for me.

This one had way too much stuff that didn’t tick the positive boxes.
I’m just going to stop there because I didn’t even make the halfway mark so I really can’t comment on the book as a whole .

This is the 7th book in the Collars & Cuffs series.

The book opens with Jarod saying goodbye to his Master at the airport, when Master is leaving for a flight to NYC. Jarod immediately comes off as someone who needs to serve, needs the guidance of the older man. They've been together for a very, very long time - twenty-four years.

Tragedy strikes, and Jarod is lost. My heart broke for him from the start - it was so sad to watch him clean the house they shared, only to clean it again because he had nothing better to do. No direction. No one to serve.

And at fifty, Jarod doesn't feel like trying again, like putting himself out there. When he does try, he is ridiculed and laughed at by subs and Doms alike, because the club that he visits isn't really a true BDSM club, but people playing at the life style.

Except for Eli who notices Jarod kneeling, who sees that everything about Jarod simply screams submission and the need to serve. Eli takes Jarod home, and their story begins.

Initially, I didn't like Eli very much. He's not a good Dom, only thinking about his own desires, instead of what his sub wants and needs, and even when his friend Ben (from book three, who wasn't a good Dom himself at the time) tells him and warns him, Eli doesn't quite get it. Oh, he agrees with Ben, and promises to fix things, but he doesn't.

It all comes to a head early into the relationship, when Eli decides that he wants to show off his perfect submissive at the same club where he picked him up. Jarod is completely humiliated and flees in shame.

I was on the edge of my seat, with hot tears in my eyes, watching the remainder of that scene unfold.

At least, Eli is awake now, and begins to act like a Dom instead of a spoiled brat, which leads him to Collars & Cuffs. The club is a perfect fit, not only for him, but also for Jarod, who blossoms with the friendships he finds there (Alec, Scott, Peter, Darian - they all play a role here), and begins to believe that he might be worthy after all.

As always, the feeling of accurate descriptions of the lifestyle is what makes this series so outstanding, and it is ever clear that the authors did their homework yet again. The emotions are plentiful in this book as in many of the others, and I cried and rejoiced with Jarod through tragedy and triumph. His character, so shy and so grateful for whatever he's given, so needy in his desire to serve his Sir, his strength (because if you think subs are weak, you're way off), and his perseverance - his entire characterization - are what made this book.

Eli has a lot to learn as a Dom, and learn, he surely does. A very satisfying HEA notwithstanding, what made this book so wonderful is the journey these two men take.

I'm looking forward to the next (and apparently last) one in this series.

I loved the first two books of the series. Trusting Thomas, the 2nd book is still one of my top ten BDSM reads. For me the series went downhill with Someone to Keep, K.C.’s collaboration with Parker Williams. My main issue was the lack of tension between Scott and Ben… and some other things I mentioned in my review.

I didn’t love book 5 and 6… but the blurb of Dom of Ages got me interested enough to give the series another try.

Unfortunately the book didn’t deliver. Perhaps it’s because of the age gap. The sub being called ‘boy’ by the 20 years younger Dom? I just couldn’t get used to the idea, it didn’t feel right.

Another thing is the unrealistic bonding between the subs. They acted like children/teenagers, the sleepover party they organized at Jarod’s house was just hilarious. Bloody hell, the guy is 50!

Despite my issues I liked part of the story and I loved meeting the characters from the previous books. I’m not sure yet if I’ll read the last book of the series, though..

I discovered this series several years ago when my two friends that bring me books brought the first 4 books in the series. I was hooked. I finally purchased the last three since Hoopla didn't carry them and my two guys didn't have them. Now they say I have to loan these to them:) Collars and Cuffs is more than a BDSM club...it's a warm, caring, close-knit "family". On second thought, some families should be so lucky. I thought after the first chapter that I was going to have to invest in Kleenex stock. I ached for Jared, a 50-year-old submissive with his broken heart and bone crushing, mind numbing loneliness, caring the weight of grief for his lost "Master" and his own need to just belong. He remained so hopeful even when things went wrong, and ageism reared its ugly head over and over. Ageism is something that effects people as much as any of the other, ugly "isms" that some people seem to get a great deal of pleasure from inflecting on different members of our societies. It's a nasty. ugly thing that can cause irreparable damage to the extent that some never live their lives to the fullest because of. I loved that Jarod was brave enough to continue his fight to find his happiness again and that Eli was the type of man that he was. The story line of this book is quite unique. All of the other characters...whose stories we have already read if we follow the series, were present throughout the story as in all the books, playing major roles in the outcome. There was a huge cliffhanger at the end that scared me to the bottom of my heart...but lucky me I have book #8 and spent another hour of sleep time to see if it was going to be something that I was going to have to invest more Kleenex money in. From the very first book, the characters draw the reader in and nicely bundle them up. This story of Eli and Jarod, like all the others was so beautifully well written. I have loved everything that K.C. Wells and Parker Williams have ever written, both individually and as a team.

I rarely rate DNF’s, but I’ve been through almost 80% of the book and it’s just … bad. The absolute worst most self centered idiot Dom ever transforms into the best Dom ever (so says the book) while remaining the most self centered MC I’ve ever had the displeasure to read. The sub was staying at his house for a month before the Dom realized sub had never been home to get his own clothes, and was rewashing the same set every day. Because the sub thought the Dom would be displeased and the Dom was just … a self centered idiot.

And then, the author has the nerve to write all of these prairie MCs talking about how “BDSM is in decline” and “no one knows the right way anymore”. I’m tired and annoyed and officially writing this one off.

In the seventh book of the "Collars and Cuffs" Series K.C. Wells and Parker Williams bring us, Dom of Ages. This story follows two very different MC that enter into a May/December relationship. Jarod is a submissive who thrives on living as a 24/7 submissive/slave. He needs a Master to make him feel whole, which is something that has been missing since he lost his Master to a tragedy four years prior to this story happening. Eli is a new Dom, he is looking for a submissive to complete him. While at his club he see's Jarod and is immediately drawn to this man who is well trained and looking to serve. Jarod is just so happy that a Dom is actually noticing him that he follows Eli no questions asked and leaves the club with him. Jarod immediately falls into the role of caretaker/slave to Eli. While Eli and Jarod are wrapped up in each other they cannot see that entering into this relationship as quickly as they did with little to no negotiation may not be the best thing. It isn't until Eli's friend and Collars and Cuffs member, Ben, starts talking to Eli that the light is shed on their situation and after some persuasion and encouragement Eli agrees to visit Collars and Cuffs to see if he can find a place to scene with his new pet and continue to grow as a Dom.

At Collars and Cuffs we get to see the "submissive gang" including all the subs from past books and we watch them as they take Jarod under their wing no questions asked and treat him as if he has always been a part of their group. It is heartwarming to watch the guys accept and include Jarod who feared he would be rejected based on his age. The Dom's in the group also do some bonding as they help encourage Thomas to come out of his "retirement" of training and take on the training of Eli so he can grow as a Dominant and fulfill both his and Jarod's needs.

This book has a lot of hot as hell scenes. I appreciate how well these authors research the BDSM scene and how factual their writing is while still sexy as hell. This was a feel good and scorchin' hot book - the perfect mix. I am really going to miss the Collars and Cuffs group - however, the author notes at the end of the book state there will be one more book so we can cheer to that!

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

There is no question about it – Dom of Ages is my favourite of the series and for two very simple reasons – Jarod and Eli.

When a book has you with tears in your eyes before the first chapter ends then you know it’s going to be good. Poor, poor Jarod. There was so much emotion in the first part of the story as it set itself up for the present day. You just knew something was going to happen when they left each other at the Airport but as Jarod raged at the news on the TV and then received that final text my heart broke for him.

Roll forward four years and is Jarod even living? I guess if you don’t fit the look of what the ideal submissive is imagined to look like then….. then what? I loved what KC and Parker did here even though it was painful to watch him being mocked and insulted. Do you suddenly get to an age where you are considered too old to be a submissive? The story made me angry for Jarod and also sad for a man who really wanted so little but put up with so much.

Eli is sick of men playing at the BDSM lifestyle but is stuck in a rut of long hours at work and little time to play. He wants what his friend Ben has, a submissive man to share his life with, but all the guys he sees in the clubs are more interested in their ego than their submission. When he spots Jarod kneeling and alone he can’t believe his eyes and before he knows what he’s doing he has offered to take the man home.

There is nothing perfect in this story, they both make a lot of mistakes, and yet perfect it is. Eli is so struck with Jarod that he doesn’t think things through properly. Jarod is so pleased to have found someone that wants him again that he doesn’t think to speak up for himself. Their mistakes aren’t horrible but they do need rectifying if they are to move forward and remain happy and safe.

I loved how Jarod was received at Collars and Cuffs. If anyone was in need and also deserving of some love from his peers it was Jarod and the subs at the club didn’t disappoint. They took him under their wing from the start and both he and Eli were welcomed like family.

This pair have to work hard for their happy ever after and just when you think it’s all going smoothly it’s suddenly not. They have each other, they have their new friends from the club, now all they need is the belief that it will all work out.

Great to catch up with all the old favourites and Jarod’s mum is a hoot!

Yay, it's Collars and Cuffs time again!! Yes, it's obviously one of my favourite series and of course, it goes without saying that it's written by one of my favourite authors. 5 feel-good stars from me.

Well, to say I was intrigued is a huge understatement. The biggest plus point for me?? The fact that the usual Dom/Sub roles have been completely reversed, and the elder of the two main characters was/is the sub...Jarod, a 50 year old sub who has been turning in on himself and quietly fading away since the death of his Master Philip 4 years previously. He takes his courage in both hands and goes to a down market substandard club where he's laughed at by practically everyone until Eli, a young fledgling Dom, walks in and can immediately see that Jarod is the one that he wants (there must be a song in there somewhere...) BUT Eli is about as experienced at being a Dom as Ben used to be (and he was hopeless), and doesn't treat Jarod very well at the start....at all.....

It's such a refreshing change to find a story where one of the MC's is an older 'statesman' with considerable life experience under his belt, but nothing in life is certain or easy, and Jarod certainly goes through the emotional wringer more than once. He bonds easily with the other subs at C & C even though most of them are young enough to be his son, but then again, most of the subs are very welcoming as we know and C & C is really one giant family. There were plenty of tears at one point in particular BUT there were also lots of smiles, laughter and most of all LOVE for all of these characters.

I can give this story no higher recommendation than to say that I obviously have no need to buy it, I have an ARC copy but I HAVE pre-ordered with Dreamspinner Press. This is SUCH a lovely story, it's totally worth it and you too will be rooting for Jarod to get his own Happy Ever After.

How this book has such a high rating is beyond me, I'll simply never come close to understanding! This has to be the WORST book in this series, a fucking joke! No chemistry, no attraction, no connection between the characters and a good dose of incredulous glimpses in the characters' minds made me realize it's time to throw in the towel. Yuck.

Well, this was cute! A tad angsty, but full of feel-good feelings, found family and a soulmate romance that made me very, very happy.

Younger Dom/older sub has got to be one of my favourite tropes of the last few months, so even though this series hasn't always been a winner for me, I had to give this one a go.
I'm glad I did, because Jarod and Eli were very cute, and Jarod is the most precious man ever. Eli, like most of the Doms before him (except for my one true love, my man Leo), is a bit underwhelming, but he didn't annoy me, unlike some others.

The friendship between all the characters was, by far, my favourite thing and I'd probably rate this whole series five stars based on found family excellence alone. Scott, who wasn't a favourite of mine, really shines here and I loved how all the subs came together to support each other, time and time again.
And after that epilogue (SERIOUSLY, WTF, WHAT IS HAPPENING), I'm pretty sure I'll be devouring the next book because oh my god, I'm intrigued.

This addition to the Collars & Cuffs series was fantastic; I am giving it 4.75 stars.

The story wouldn't let me go from the start. I felt for Jarod as he lost his Master of 24 years, and still hadn't been able to move on four years later. He tried, but the ridicule and unfriendly looks he gets every time he heads out to the club that his former Master and he visited is devastating. The subs all treat him like he's is too old, and others assume that he must be a Dom at his age. He tries once more, when his mother pushes him to get out of the house. Fate finally seems to be on his side, when just as he was about to give up on the club again, Eli comes in and asks Jarod to go home with him.

Eli is young and has never had a sub before. However, he know what he wants and he's not finding it at the club that he keeps going to, until he sees Jarod and acts impulsively. Eli makes a lot of mistakes at the beginning since Jarod is so well trained and so happy to be serving someone again. When Eli finally gets his head together to start meeting Jarod's needs as well, I started to like Eli a lot more. Their relationship blossoms as they make sure that both of their needs are met.

Eli really grows as the story continues. He finally tries Collars & Cuffs like his friend, Ben has been telling him for years and finds a home for both Jarod and himself. New friends and family for both of them. Jarod was so lonely and the other subs immediately take to him and look up to him as well.

Jarod is a wonderful man and you can't help but want him to find life and love again. Eli was immature, but wised up fast with the help of his friend, Ben. Eli proves himself even more when Jarod has a medical emergency. He shows Jarod that the love and trust that they have built will get them through anything. Their age difference was handled well, especially since that is an issue that affects several of the other couples at Collars & Cuffs.

I love Jarod's mother! She's a riot. The scenes with her were amazing. I would love to have someone like her in my life.

I absolutely loved this book. I think it's great to find a book that deals with an unconventional situation that most definitely would occur in real life. Here we have a sub who's fifty, lost and alone after the death of his master. He meets Eli, twenty years younger and can't possibly imagine that he'd be interested in him. But Eli proves to him that age doesn't matter. Reading so many stories of older Doms with young subs, I'm always curious to know how it goes once the sub "grows up" so to speak. This book deals with exactly that. Age doesn't matter. But apparently in romance novels it does, because it's hard to find a book with an older sub and a younger dom. I'm so glad this book was written and shared with us.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This series is wonderful and this is probably one of my absolute favorite books in it. It was very enlightening to see the age difference in reverse so to speak. In most of the BDSM books I have read with significant age differences it was almost always the Dom who was older and more experienced. Not here.

Jarod is very sweet and so strong in his own, understated way. Yes, he was lost after he lost his Master but he tried to start over. Several times. The way he was ridiculed by others over his age was heartbreaking and illustrated just how off the mark many people are with their views of this lifestyle.

Eli started off in the doghouse with me. He was self centered in the way he viewed the clubs he was going to. He looked down on 'Pretenders' and I understood that in a way. My problem was how he wouldn't try to improve anything, he just complained about it, never realizing he was part of the problem.

However, Eli's saving grace was how he took one look at Jarod and saw the man and submissive, not an age. He immediately claims Jarod but in the days that follow he proves just how lacking as a Dom he is. He is selfish, but it is because of immaturity, not a true lack of heart. I adored how his friend read him the riot act over his failure to consider Jarod's needs beyond submission.

And when Eli stepped up to the plate I was 100% a fan. He shined in his efforts to correct his mistakes and become the Dom Jarod deserved.

When Jarod has a health crisis Eli proves once again that he can and will be exactly what Jarod needs. The authors handled the aftermath of it wonderfully. Five months ago, my husband suffered the same thing(he did recover too) and reading the emotions and reactions during and after the crisis rang very true.

I think one of my favorite things about this series is the way the couples bond with each other. Jarod and Peter have valid concerns about the age differences with their partners, each on opposite sides of the issue and they talk about it honestly. Peter knows he will most likely lose Thomas many years before his own time. Jarod is dealing with the likelihood that he will leave Eli to grieve for him just as his first master did to him. It is not glossed over and the way they take comfort that their friends will be there to help each partner left behind in grief is absolutely beautiful.

It was a bad start

I obviously ended up enjoying this story but had my doubts at the beginning. It was so abrupt and struck me as ridiculous. When Eli found Jarod in the club, he invited him home, put him in the guest room and went off to work the next day. Seriously??!! Eli had no real conversation, never asked Jarod about where he lived, wondered about what he was going to wear or whether he had any transportation. And this went on for a whole week, with no further conversation. WTF? I almost put the book down at that point. Eli wasn't acting like any kind of Dom at all and treating Jarod like an unpaid servant. Ben had to intervene when he found out. It could have been written differently and so much better.

Things at least improved after that and they started interacting with the C & C characters. There was a lot more sex in this book and a few more real scenes. Naturally, Jarod fit right in with the sub group. There were some mentions of physical things that made Jarod's age show but I never really felt it with his character. I suppose that was the point of the book, that submission isn't about age. There were some crises and other things happening with the boys and their Doms. It ended up being pretty good, one of the better ones in the series, for me. From the ending, I guess there may be another book coming.

This can be read as a stand alone but I definitely recommend reading this series!

Jared has lost his Dom in a very tragic way. He feels lost and so alone with no one to take care of now and with how much he misses his master after his passing.

I felt so bad for Jared to lose someone like that and just feel so lost and alone that you are not even sure how to go on after.

Jarod tries to get back out there after years of dealing with his loss and lets just say it does not go very well until he meets Eli.

The way these authors wrote these two MC's and this story was just amazing! There were painful parts with everything Jarod was going through but there were also very beautiful parts too between Jarod and Eli while they grew closer to one another in their Dom/Sub relationship. You also see a lot of the previous characters in this series which I loved!

This series by far has been one of my favorite BDSM M/M series and with every book it just gets better and better!

I do not want to spoil any of this book because you really need to read this one for yourself so I will leave this review with I 100% loved this book!

I would recommend this series!

The Collars and Cuffs series is a favourite of mine and each book is like a special gift to be unwrapped and savoured. They are the most beautifully written and sensual books even considering they are based around the theme of a BDSM club and lifestyle. Dom of Ages was an incredible new addition, with Jarod being one of the best characters of the entire series. He is a complex individual with very specific needs and the way Kc explored this was sensitive and endearing, and of course sexy and hot! Eli is a strong and compassionate man who endeavours to meet his sub's every need and we join Eli and Jarod on their rocky voyage of discovery. The rest of the C&C crew support the storyline and I welcomed their contributions as they are all adorable and familiar characters. Peter and Thomas have a little sub-plot that was heart wrenching, heart warming and emotional. The BDSM scenes were horny as hell and Kc's descriptions throughout were realistic and vivid. In conclusion, Dom of Ages made me laugh and cry and sigh and cheer! I couldn't wait to find to what happened in the end, yet I wanted to the book to last and last, I would give this 10 stars if I could...

Well what can I say? I have loved every book in the Collars & Cuffs series and this one was no different. First let me say that I really like books with a big age difference every once and a while. This book was just amazing. I fell in love with Jarod right from the beginning. In fact I think it was when he asked his mother, “can I come home?” That was when I really began to feel how much he missed his Master and lover. K.C. Wells and Parker Williams are an absolutely wonderful writing duo. They make you feel every portion of the book your reading.

This book was not perfect as I don’t really care for a sub who acts like a child. But hey who am I to criticize how the author characters talk to them. This was another winner from the writing duo of K.C. Wells and Parker Williams.

This has turned out to be one of my new favorites. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC and must say thank you once again to K.C. This is a very powerful story that brings to life some of the overwhelming issues that both parties in a Ds lifestyle must face. It shows that you can't put age and its perceived limits on somethings and that you should never judge a book by its cover.
Tissues will be required at some point but never fear there is also laughter and silliness to balance. Eli and Jarod lead us through a journey that won't be forgotten anytime soon.

I loved reading about Eli and Jarod. What a wonderful couple. They were both so in need of someone to not only care for, but someone care for them. As always, I am honored to have read one of the Cuffs & Collars stories. They are among some of my favorite series.
