This is such a lovely series of books. I came across the 1st 2 in a charity shop then searched desperately for the 3rd. Fortunately the publishers are very helpful and I was able to buy a copy direct. I've started re-reading them and they're just as delightful the 2nd time round. I often think of the pedestrian when I walk across chalk downland or look at archeological finds, it gives you such a connection with the past.
