Holiday Heist is a 15,000 word festive novella, PLUS an extract from Murder On The Menu, another Celebrity Mystery adventure with Lizzie and Jack.
Zanna Mackenzie lives in the UK with her husband, 3 dogs, a vegetable patch that’s home to far too many weeds and an ever expanding library of books waiting to be read.
Being a freelance writer and editor of business publications is her ‘day job’ but, at every opportunity, she can be found scribbling down notes on scenes for whatever novel she’s working on. She loves it when the characters in her novels take on minds of their own and start deviating from the original plot!
Formerly a travel agent and therapist (she has qualifications in clinical aromatherapy, crystal healing, naturopathic nutrition and herbalism) she loves walking the dogs and gardening – that’s when she’s not writing or reading!
A Christmastime short, sweet, and clean mystery. It is suitable for teen readers. The characters were interesting. Who committed the crime wasn't a big surprise.

The Celebrity Mystery series and the Amber Reed Mystery series combine amateur sleuths, secret agents, celebrities, romance, comedy and adventure into fun cozy mysteries. Will Lizzie and Jack solve the case in time for Christmas? The heist isn't pulled by the obvious culprit. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
Holiday Heist takes place right after the ending of Murder on the Menu. As this new adventure begins, author Zanna Mackenzie does a good job of reviewing what happened in the first book. Jack Mathis has now set up his own private investigator and security business called Mathis investigations safety and security (MISS). It's Christmas and Lizzie and Jack have plans to spend the day with Jack's brother, sister-in-law, nieces, and nephew. But then he gets a big case to solve. Actress Arabella Saunders, of Compton Abbey fame, is staying at the Roseby and her priceless family heirloom necklace has been stolen. Lizzie and Jack go into sleuth mode to solve this case together as quickly as possible. There are a handful of possible suspects which make for an entertaining read.
This was a fun, festive mystery cozy. When Jack and Lizzie get engaged they are all set to spend a family Christmas together but then they get side tracked when Jack is called in as head of his investigative firm to check into the case of a missing necklace of a famous locks actress. The stage is set, the distraught actress, the carping mother, the resentful sister who is emoluments by her acting sis as a PA and the slick, oily fiancé Vincent. WHO did it? Only Jack can find out... A quirky little case and a good story, really got into this one.
3 Stars I purchased a copy of the novella Holiday Heist: A Celebrity Mystery: A Humorous Romantic Cozy Mystery (A Recipe For Disaster Mystery Book 2) by Zanna Mackenzie and this review was given freely. Lizzie and Jack remain partners in love and mystery solving in this fast paced twisted story which takes place Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. A short Holiday mystery with promise.
Lissie is enjoying her life on the farm and Jack has done as he mulled over in book one in this most delightful series and that was to open his own business solving one mystery at a time. This Christmas i'ts with his own private catwoman at his side. Step into the life of movie stars and thier crazy ideas. Pick up your copy of "Holliday Heist "today. Kat
Holiday Heist was a cute, short story at about 70 pages. The rest of the book was an excerpt of book one of the series. The action was a little slow and the mystery wasn't very mysterious. But the character development was enjoyable.
Need a quick read to help you escape from reality? Then try this short romantic mystery - it will fill an hour or so and entertain you fully. I just might be in the market for more of Zanna’s books for future escapes this season. Also, I love the British setting.
I liked the characters of the book fine but the whodunnit was not surprising. It was cute, short and somewhat entertaining but not a great mystery. Also had a few editing problems.
i read this book to fulfil the goal read a book about a heist. it was adverage at best. something i would expect from high school fiction. still for a good clean mystery for a preteen it was about right.
Enjoyable, I always enjoy these characters and I love that they work together instead of one of them saying oh its too dangerous for you Im a professional. I love that boy people can help each other out.
Christmas Eve brings a mystery solving crime for Jack. Can he solve the crime before Christmas Day, or will Jack and Lizzy miss celebrating Christmas with family and announcing their news. Another great read by Santa Mackenzie.
This was a very interesting story. I was surprised in the end to find out who really stole the necklace. I had thoughts on the issue, but then something came up to thwart my thoughts, I look forward to reading more stories by this author.
This is the first book I've read by this author. I enjoyed the story. It was shorter than I expected, but well written. I will forward to more by this author.
Cute, clean - no offensive language, sexually explicit scenes, nor graphic violence -Christmas-themed mystery suitable for cozy mystery fans of all ages.
The book was over before I really got into the story. Approximately 50 ℅ of the e-book was about other books. I will not but another book by this author.
