I discovered that I'm terrible with money. I'm not that bad, but I could use a helping hand. So I got hold of Alvin and his advice. I quite like Alvin, but this wasn't quite the book I was looking for. Mostly he explores the nature of your relationship with money -- what you learned from your parents, what you're teaching your kids, how money affects your relationships with your siblings, considering a pension, and all that gumph. Actually, that's not really what I needed to know. I need to know how to stop being a putz with money, and there wasn't a lot in here about that. And Alvin can be a little bit prim when he's ready, so you can feel slightly more of a putz if you've already realised, well, I have no pension, I charge too little for my time, I don't value myself in terms of money, etc. A bit more practical rather than "I know a couple who spent too much and got into debt, so they talked to me and I helped them see the error of their ways." If that makes any sense.

But I do still like Alvin. Maybe more on the TV than in book form, mind. Hmm. Wonder if he has any YouTube vids?

I found this on the clearance table at Barnes & Noble for $2.49. Maybe my being so happy to snag a bargain is the kind of emotion the book will explain. Actually, thumbing through it and seeing a section on siblings who stopped talking to each other after a parent died is what clinched the purchase for me.
