In my opinion, the difference between an okay easy reader and a truly good one is whether it's engaging enough to hold interest as a read-aloud. This book passes the test. In addition to having very simple text, this book is loved by my 2-year-old class (I think it's the photographs). I would recommend it to anyone looking for basic readers that don't make the child feel talked down to.
This book literally goes through and talks about the process of a grub turning into a ladybug. This is a very simple book. I cannot wait to have this book in my classroom library.
Same review as "Bears" by Melvin and Gilda Berger. I ordered all these little science books from scholastic, so it is hard to know what you are going to get. I was expecting so much more out of these books. The semantics can make the book confusing and it is so simple, I'm not sure how anyone can really learn from them. I guess they are supposed to be easy to read, but who wants to read such boring books? At least they all have good pictures. Well, this one has more science than some of the others.
