Skelton's collection celebrates the poetry of Ireland through eight centuries. This is part of a larger project in which he has composed poetry in other Celtic verse forms. The author is world renowned. He was born in Yorkshire in 1925 and now lives in Victoria British Columbia, where he taught at the University for almost thirty years. He has been fascinated by Irish writing since the early '60s and has edited both J. M. Synge and Jack B. Yeats. His own poems about Ireland have appeared in throe books An Irish Gathering, An Irish Album, and Remembering Synge.
