Bei diesem Band gibt es nun doch eine große Lücke zum letzten von über einem halben Jahr, und das betrifft ausgerechnet die Zeitspanne in der Brenda und Dylan zusammen waren. Mittlerweile hat Brenda schon wieder Schluss gemacht und versteckt sich in einem Schauspielkurs um Dylan nicht zufällig am Strand über den Weg zu laufen. Doch schon bald ist er ihr näher als ihr lieb ist: nach einem Surf-Unfall wird der pflegebedürftige Draufgänger bei Familie Walsh einquartiert. Brandon verbringt ja eh die ganze Zeit im vornehmen Beach Club, um Geld für ein neues Auto zu verdienen.
Trotz dem alle 8 Teenied der Clique (die es als solch noch gar nicht wirklich gibt) auch in diesem Buch mitspielen, ist nach wie vor das Zwillingspaar Dreh- und Angelpunkt der Geschichten. Alle anderen Personen erleben wir nur aus deren Sicht. Selbst ein Date von Kelly bekommen wir nur erzählt, als sie Brenda davon berichtet.
Letztere kann ich bei ihrem Hin und Her mit Dylan übrigens überhaupt nicht verstehen. Das Schluss machen und aus dem Weg gehen, obwohl sie ihn doch liebt! Diese Floskeln wie "Ich brauche Zeit zum nachdenken." oder "Ich muss mir noch über einiges klar werden.", denen man so häufig in Film und Fernsehen begegnet fand ich immer schon idiotisch (zumal der Charakter dann auch nie wirklich aktiv nachdenkt). Ich hab ja vollstes Verständnis für "Das geht mir zu schnell, lass uns das Ganze mal etwas langsamer angehen." Aber das, was Brenda hier aufführt, ist für mich rein künstlich erzeugtes Drama. Und Dylan weiß dann schon gar nicht was er eigentlich noch denken und wie er sich verhalten soll, wenn sie ihm in einem Moment aus dem Weg geht, dann sich aber so vehement dafür einsetzt dass er bei ihnen zu Hause einziehen darf um gepflegt zu werden, sich dann aber aufregt wenn er sie als Laufbursche für Essen, Trinken und 'ne Decke benutzt, und dann im nächsten Moment doch wieder wild mit ihm knutscht. 🙄

Well, there's certainly enough drama for a summer in Beverly Hills. Lots of little subplots, focused on the beach. If you liked the show, this is fairly entertaining to read if you want something really light and quick.

This was a quick, easy read. I enjoyed it very much. It’s so fun reading about his group and before you know it, you’re onto the next book!

I really enjoy these novelizations. This one covers some early season two episodes and works to set up the Beach Club episodes. I had a good time revisiting these characters.

Siit tuleb nüüd kohe nii palju nostalgiat, et kohe on. See raamatuke on üks kolmest, mis on kirjutatud minu teismeea aastate lemmikseriaali põhjal. Ilmumise hetkel olin küll juba otsaga ülikooli jõudnud, aga see ei takistanud neid kohe ostmast ja nautimast (maksid ka tegelikult üsna soolase hinna tudegile). Ilmselt kui esimesena täiskasvanueas oleksid kätte sattunud, siis oleksin lugedes õlgu kehitanud, aga kui ise nende tegelastega koos üles kasvanud, teeb nostalgia oma töö.
Tegelikult on süžee neil üsna mõnus: kaksikud Brenda ja Brandon kolivad vaiksest Minnesotast Los Angelesse ja hakkavad õppima West Beverly Hillsi keskkoolis, kus tihti loevad vaid raha ja väline mulje. Walshid just rahas ei suple ja on üritanud oma lastele teistsuguseid väärtusi õpetada. BH noored aga, kelle väliselt elupõletamise ja rahas suplemise maskide taga peidavad end probleemide küüsis ja kuulsate vanemate tähelepanust ilma jäänud noored, hakkavad peagi ihalema hoopis uustulnukate sooja pereelu. Olenemata ajast ja kohast on teemad kõigile noortele tüüpilised. Eks mõnikord tunduvad lahendused liiga lihtsalt saabuvat, aga las ta siis olla, sihtrühmaks on ju ikkagi (kunagised) noored.
Seriaali pole julgenud täisealisena uuesti vaatama hakata 🙂

Drama, drama, drama!!!!! So much drama going on for a group of high school kids. It was like a regular high school on steroids but it did touch on a lot of problems kids can face. It was very entertaining.
