Between discovering that two of his brothers have accepted male beloveds and learning his eldest brother is moving their coven to the United States, Aleksei Kuznetsov’s world has been turned upside down. He’s never been good with change, so he flees his family and what he believes are their unnatural predilections. After several months of soul searching, he’s ready to make amends. However, realizing that being gay isn’t unnatural, and accepting it for his brothers, doesn’t prepare him for running into Remy Smithson. The human’s blood calls to him like he imagines a beloved’s should. Can he wrap his mind around what’s happening quickly enough, or will he lose the best thing that may have ever happened to him?
Disliked Remy. His character was suppose to be gay but he came across as non-sexual. My impression was that he was non-attractive inside and out - just blah. Remy was very confident in instigating and managing hookups. He was extremely conceited and self absorbed and didn't have anything to offer Aleksei in a relationship except his blood. Remy was a former car salesman, yuck! His current job was a 10 key accounting clerk at a bank. (Ms. Richards - stupid writing - that job has been obsolete since the 1950's.) I just didn't buy into anyone being attracted to Remy unless he had a forced paranormal fated instant love like Aleksei did. Even though Aleksei was arrogant and bigoted with no mouth filter, he showed more love and concern for Remy than Remy did for him.
This book ended too abruptly without resolving Remy's job situation, Aleksei's reintroduction into his coven, and their relationship conflicts. The ending was a moment in time HFN. Typical Charlie Richards today, quantity instead of quality.
I'm not sure why I thought Remy's leg would get better after bonding... come to think of it, was it Luc from Kontra's that had crutch bearing mate?
So... not really bad.. not really good. I really don't think we needed to prove to Alek how wrong his bigotry was by giving him a male mate. Just seemed to be overkill. However.. I'd like to see something happen with the waiter Ken.. perhaps in the next line up...

This is probably one of the better one's I've read lately. They didn't rush into anything. They didn't move in quick. They didn't bond quick. Aleksei still had issues, back up, HAS issues. He's a work in progress and I liked it.
I will say that I love Aleksei's brother, Nikolai. I want his blood thirsty book!
This was awesome. Aleksei gets his mate and since he was so bigoted, he wasn't too happy to know that his mate was a man,Remy. I loved how Aleksei learned tolerance, especially for his mate and how he allowed Remy to teach him things sexually. Unfortunately, there were more bigots out there who were a danger to Remy. The plot was well done and the story was very amusing. I definitely enjoyed this sweet read. =)
Der Teil um Alek und Remy gefällt mir gut. Dramatisch, spannend, heiß, humorvoll. 💜 Liest sich gut und ist nicht langweilig. Aber wo sind die Wölfe? 😅 Also definitiv lesenswert ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
I've been waiting for Aleksei's story since The Vampire's Geek and Driving Borscht Batty. With the way Aleksei behaved he had to have trouble with his mate. This story also finished off the storyline from when Remy was bashed back in A Cajun in Colorado For best enjoyment and understanding I would not read this story as a standalone.
Aleksei, the brother of the Russian vampires, the vampire who thought his brothers could not have male beloved, meets his mate. Guess what? It is Remy, Chris and Manon's friend who was gay bashed. It was interesting seeing Aleksei deal with an out and proud gay man for a beloved. Remy doesn't want to be some straight man's experiment and he makes Aleksei work for the right to be with him. Remy is not a damsel in distress and is a great character. I also liked the relationship between the brothers--it is realistic.
It was so nice to see Remy get a happy ending, we haven't heard from him in ages. This was an adorable take on someone realizing they were wrong. I wish we could have seen a bit more of Aleksie's time before, as he came to terms with himself being in the wrong.
Remy's days of being attacked because of being gay have not ended with the trial over from a previous attack now family members of those imprisoned go after him. His new lover being a gay bashing ass, in the past, creates problems.
Thanks to Fate a bigoted, straight vampire does a complete, virtually instantaneous, turnaround when it turns out his beloved is an out and proud human. I enjoyed the story but would have liked a bit more character development.
I wish the author had fleshed out the story and characters. It seems as this series goes along the author is just doing the bare minimum. It is a 3.75 star book.
This was a slightly better book I liked the fact that even though they are mates they actually 'kind-of' see each other first before it gets further. Of course that was a bit ruined by Aleksei stupid words, seriously I just wanted to glue his mouth close.... the development of the story was sort of ok...
