This book is a sort of short economic Guinness Book of Records (which should be no surprise, given it's published by The Economist.
All in all it's quite interesting if you want to know the country which imprisons the most people, or where the biggest infant mortality is, or where the biggest household debt is, or where cancer deaths are most prevalent for example.
So in short, it's the sort of book you might like if you want to sound slightly knowledgeable.

The Economist "Pocket World in Figures 2016" is an important economic and demographic reference book for students of world economics and quality of life. I will use this reference constantly throughout the year.
