Edge of Surrender
picks right up from the end of At the Edge. Emma has a target painted on her back, and I wondered if Ryan would be able to keep her safe. Emma does some quick thinking so the burden is not all on Ryan. It was nice that she wasn’t portrayed as just some ditzy damsel in distress.

In the midst of all the thrills and action, Ryan and Emma’s feelings for each other grow more powerful and they share some very heated nights. Both want more, but are uncertain about the depth of the other’s feelings. I felt their need for each other would overcome any obstacles life would put in their way.

This is my first experience reading Laura Griffin, but it won’t be my last! She writes a perfect balance of action, mystery, and romance, and I was glued to the pages to find out how it all turned out!

4 - "You hesitate, you die." Stars!

Emma and Ryan return, in Edge of Surrender the second part of Laura Griffins’ really enjoyable Alpha Crew series. The action picks up right where book one left off, and we hit the ground running with Ryan searching for the missing Emma.

This is one of those books that answers many questions, but also brings a load of new ones about as it progresses, although at the end of this installment we know the who, why’s and wherefores in relation to Emma’s situation and the cover up behind it.

"Don’t you dare doubt me. Not for a minute. I don’t give up on things… we can do this."

But you are left asking questions about other players in the game as it develops, who they are and what is their motivation. Ryan’s associate Jake springs to mind as does slightly sketchy FBI Agent Alexa, there was a pretty hefty dose of chemistry bubbling between this pair as well, and I am hoping that it is a pre-cursor to the author providing them with their own book(s).

"I’ve never been good at sharing."

I will admit I found the ending a little rushed, and it fell into the 'cut & dried' box for me a little bit as well, but all in all the first two books in what I hope will be a continuing series were a really enjoyable read. Laura Griffin has certainly added herself to my auto-buy list with Emma and Ryan’s story, it had the right amount of action and suspense, combined with plenty of sexy and a really good emotional connection between them.

ARC generously provided via Netgalley, and it was a pleasure to provide the above honest review.

Oh my gosh! This book picked up right where the first one left off. With loads of action, twists and turns, and not knowing who to trust or where to go.

Full of sexy heat, action and smokin' hot military muscle you are just going to fall for. That's the best part of a Laura Griffin story. Romantic suspense military novels are an intriguing read that keeps you turning those pages fast! And the amount of action the author packs into a story, there's no chance of a boring read here!

This two part series is a great read and definitely one that you're going to devour! I love the stories that Laura Griffin has been bringing. I, for one, just can't seem to get enough!

ARC received for review

Picks up right where Part 1 ended with Emma kidnapped and Ryan trying to find her. Emma showed more of her spunk during the time she was with the kidnappers. There was lots of suspense and action and hot bedroom scenes. Then rush, rush, rush to the finish and a really stinky ending. Plus there's no resolution with all her daddy drama.

Now I wouldn't mind reading more about his friend Jake and FBI agent Alexa.

For those of you who love Ms. Griffin's Tracers series the last 10% is a sneak peak of the next novel.

Ryan and Emma’s story continues with the same level of excitement as Part I. Suspenseful, riveting and action-packed, I couldn’t tear my eyes away. Not even for a minute. So, I read it in one sitting.

Maybe I was a little paranoid or obsessed even, but there were a ton of doubts and questions flying through my mind the entire time. Things I had to know. Things I got answers to, for the most part.
Would Ryan find Emma in time?
Do they both want the same things?
Is he going to change his whole life for her?
How are things going to work if he doesn't?
I don't know about you, but for me, chemistry is the crux of any great story. Laura Griffin manages to nail it every single time. Even with her secondary characters. Despite all the odds against them, Ryan and Emma crossed paths and somehow things just fit. I totally adored them together. His protectiveness and her stubbornness made for the perfect mix of tension and sexy.
“But don’t you dare doubt me. Not for a minute. I don’t give up on things, and I know we can do this.”
I think some people will like the ending more than others. Don’t get me wrong, I'm not saying I was unhappy but I wanted MORE. I wasn’t ready to let go of these two. And I would have loved a little glimpse of the future. I'm clinging to the hope that maybe, just maybe this means there could be a Part III? Or that we might get to see more of them in Jake and Alexa's book, because they have to be getting their own story too, right?

Picking up right where we left off in At The Edge , Edge of Surrender is like a movie playing out. Where is Emma? Can Ryan find her in time? And what is going on with the teammate Jake and the FBI agent?

I love this kind of romantic suspense. Absolute adventure, smart thinking, and blood pumping action keeps you turning the pages until the wee hours.

As before this is a relatively short read, so keeping it spoiler free isn’t easy. I will say this much: Ryan and Emma are this kind of book couple that keeps you excited and enthralled in the story. To trust or not to trust is the decision that Emma needs to make. Do emotions change the dynamic or just make it more of an issue? Ryan has figured out his mistakes, but did he wait to long to correct them?

One of my favorite new series of 2016

4.5 Almost Perfect Stars!

Edge of Surrender picked up right where the first book left off. In the first book, it was almost perfect except for Ryan's hesitation at getting physical with Emma. You know he's attracted to her but he kept trying to put her off and I wasn't sure why. In this 2nd book, Ryan realizes he can't keep her at a distance and allows himself to have her all the while protecting her from an unknown enemy. Once again, I say this was almost perfect. What kept it from a solid 5 Stars was the rushed ending. It felt a little incomplete because of it, but I'm hoping it's because there is a third book and we'll see these two again. Also, we got Jake and Alexa's romance as a very, very brief side note. A possible book coming our way for these two?

Review originally posted at All Books Considered: 3.5 STARS

I'm so glad I had both books to read back to back because book 1 ended on a major cliffy. In book 2, the suspense kicks up as does the connection between Ryan and Emma. While I almost feel like the entire story was a bit too short and wrapped up too quickly, I appreciated the fast paced nature and there was no lack of chemistry and steamy scenes. I'm curious to read other books by this author because these two were so seamless and fun to read!

His mouth crushed down on hers, cutting off all words, all thought. There was only him, and his lips and his taste and the perfect feel of his body pinning her. He braced her there, keeping her on her feet even when her legs felt like limp noodles and her head felt so dizzy she didn't know her own name.

These books are easy to devour and now that they are both out, you can do so! I definitely recommend to fans of romantic suspense/military romance. I was slightly reminded of one of my favorite books, Out of Control by Suzanne Brockmann, while reading this -- it's the fourth book from her Troubleshooters series (also involving SEALs) but definitely can be read as a standalone. For more romance with a jungle rescue, I also recommend Midnight Rainbow by my favorite Linda Howard. For more special ops romance, the T-FLac series by Cherry Adair is awesome. The Edge of Surrender came out this week on March 28, 2016 while At The Edge came out earlier this month, and I definitely loved both!

Same as the first part of this novella. 4 Stars for the story, and 1 Star for the publishers scammy marketing ploy.

I waited until this second part of the “Alpha Crew” arc (AT THE EDGE / EDGE OF SURRENDER) was available before I began reading; knowing that it was a two-parter book. I will say right off the top that I did enjoy the story. I am a longtime fan of Laura Griffin and her “Tracers” series. This was an enjoyable read in what looks to be another great series by Griffin.

I was incredibly disappointed in the marketing tactic being used to release this book. It took less than an hour to read the first part, and then less than an hour to read the second part. There was absolutely no reason to separate the story into two different books; especially when the whole read was shorter than a regular book, barely novella length.

No one wants to pay two, three, or more times the cost of a book when it is broken down into parts or serialized. Publishers are doing readers a great disservice parceling books out in this fashion; and more and more readers are refusing to read books doled out in these expensive little pieces.

I did enjoy the story; but I also feel it necessary to point out to other readers the dissatisfaction they will likely feel with the tactic used to release the story. These are two very short parts with the price point of a full book. In actuality, the whole thing is really just a highly overpriced novella.

One can only hope that Jake and Alexa's story will be a full length novel.

IF YOU HAVEN'T READ AT THE EDGE... STOP AND GO READ PART 1 BEFORE READING EDGE OF SURRENDER!!

Edge of Surrender starts off right where At the Edge ended. Ryan is frantically searching for a missing Emma. Part 2 answers all the questions from part 1. The who's, why's, and how's of the events behind the plane crash, where Emma was the only survivor, and the cover up and who was behind it.

With Part 2, I felt this half of Ryan and Emma's story felt a bit rushed towards the end. It seemed that once the "suspense" part was solved, that everything needed to wrapped in a pretty bow. I think that Ryan and Emma's relationship needed a little more attention at the end of the book.

Laura Griffin is an auto-buy author for me!! I LOVE her Tracers series. If you haven't read her Tracer series, I HIGHLY recommend them!!

ARC provided by the Publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

I do not care for the installment format and have made my feelings known to the publisher. Regardless of format, Laura Griffin is an awesome author. Edge of Surrender is the second part and you must read the first part, At the Edge.

It seems that something other than a malfunction brought the plane Emma was on down. Who and why, are the questions because now. Someone in after Emma now that she is back in the United States and asking questions no one wants to answer. On her way to a meeting with the FBI Emma is kidnapped. Ryan is beside himself and frantic to track her down. Emma manages to get free and she and Ryan now are tracking down the who and why this all happened.

This book literally starts in the middle of the story and just doesn't have enough punch. Both books, taken together just aren't as good as Laura Griffin's other work. Sad for me to admit, but plot and character development are lacking. 3 1/2 Stars.

Everything that I did enjoy about part one is exactly what made me hate part two.

Emma ruined this second half for me. I understand wanting to protect the name/reputation of people you care about, but I'm not going to do that at the expense of mine or others lives. Emma is stubborn, acts like a child when she doesn't get her way, and irritated me so much I wanted to kill her myself. Ryan, meanwhile, acts like a 17 year old horn dog, only thinking about sex at some of the most ridiculous times. If this man was a real Navy SEAL, he would have been booted out long ago.

I'll also reiterate my earlier statement that this didn't need to be two books. At most, both parts amounted to right at 200 pages. It didn't need a cliffhanger, it didn't need two parts, and it definitely didn't need to rip off the reader by paying double for something they could have gotten for a third of the price.

I received this from the publisher in exchange for my honest review, and there you have it. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity.

After reading part I of At the Edge , I was so excited to jump into this novella. Part I left off on a crazy cliffhanger, and I was desperate to know what happened next. Part II started right where we left off. The first couple chapters of this novella was so action packed! I could legitimately feel my heart beating about a thousand miles per hour. Laura's writing had me on the edge of my seat! I was expecting the entire novella to be like that, but unfortunately, it wasn't. After the first couple chapters, I felt like this novella became a predictable romance story.

I was so disappointed by that considering how much I enjoyed the previous novella.

I love romance, but the romance didn't work for me in this novella. I really enjoyed the romance in part I, but I felt like it fell flat in this part. The romance seemed to completely take over the plot. I thought Laura did an awesome job at writing steamy scenes, but I wanted more explosive action! I would have liked to have had the steamy scenes, but not as many as there were. I wanted awesome kickbutt action with a side of romance!

I really liked seeing some more of the side characters in this novella. I would love to see even more development of those characters. There was a new woman introduced in this novella, and I totally ship her with one of Ryan's friends. I hope there will be a book about them in the future!

The big "reveal" in this book really wasn't shocking for me. I thought it was kind of obvious what was happening through out the entire novella.

I wish the big "shock" would have been less obvious. That part of the novella also felt kind of rushed. It seemed to happen so quickly! Also, some storylines had no resolution. For example, Emma's issues with her dad were never addressed. I wanted some resolution on that, but there wasn't any! I was disappointed by that.

I know I have said a lot of negative things, but I did not hate this novella. There were some really exciting parts that I loved! As I said, Laura knows how to right awesome action scenes. The romance was a bit overwhelming, but it was obvious that Emma and Ryan had some crazy chemistry. I definitely would like to read more about them, and see their relationship develop more.

Overall, I liked this novella, but it wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. I think if part I and II of this novella would have been better as one book. It wouldn't have felt as rushed, and I think there would have been room for more development of plot lines, characters, and relationships.

This review is for both part one and two of Alpha Crew! They are not stand alones. Part one ends on a cliffhanger and the story is completed in part two.
I haven't had an opportunity to dive into too many of Laura Griffin's books. My blog partner is a die hard fan and has read everything she has written! So, I decided it was time to see what all of the fuss is about. :) And, I have to say that Laura Griffin can write some truly steamy, page turning goodness.
My favorite type of Alpha males are men in uniform. And, you just can't get any better than Navy SEAL Ryan, who is not only a seal but a extra special under cover seal. He is tough, bossy, in control and is 100% male, BUT he is also protective, thoughtful, intense and feels deeply. Especially for the lovely lady he is sent to rescue when her plane crashes in a hostile territory. His job is to protect Emma at all costs and he takes his job seriously. So, when Emma finds herself mixed up in something much more dangerous than being lost in the jungle, Ryan steps up to be her personal bodyguard. It's a tough job but somebody has to do it! **wink wink**

**insert hot and steamy romance**

Emma is a female character that I can appreciate. She has beautiful curves, a tough disposition, a never give up attitude and is a survivor. A perfect companion for the very dominant, sexy and pushy soldier because she keeps it all in check!
I read both of these novellas very easily in one day. Very engaging, well written romantic suspense. I hope we will be getting a future story from the side characters. There was some serious steam happening between the FBI agent and Ryan's partner. Yep, I'd be on board for that for sure.

I'm definitely going to be adding Laura Griffin to my must read pile. :)

Edge of Surrender by Laura Griffin is a 2016 Pocket Star publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher, as an XOXpert, the official street team for XOXO After Dark.

This book picks up right where “At the Edge’ left off. Emma gets herself in a tight spot and Ryan comes to the rescue. But, from that point on, the plot really tightens up as Emma and Ryan begin to piece together the reasons for the plane crash and who was responsible.
The action doesn't stop, with Ryan and Emma bonding emotionally and working together as a team to expose a shocking scheme while fighting for their lives. This couple is special and I liked how the author kept things real, testing Emma’s commitment to Ryan and seeing her rise to the occasion.
This series is off to an outstanding start with a perfect balance between the romance and the suspense, great characters and an engaging, super tense plot, leaving me begging for more this one.
PS: Be sure to read “At the Edge” first.

I am a HUGE Laura Griffin fan, but I am not a fan of this format of releasing a book. $4 for part one $4 for part two then several months later, release part 1 & 2 in a duo for 2.99. Not a fan of putting out part of a story, not calling it a novella (so you can be warned), charging crazy fees and ending in a ridiculous cliff hanger. Will not be going any further in this mess, FOR SURE.

Edge of Surrender and At the Edge is a 2 part book in the Alpha Crew series by Laura Griffin. These two books actually represent one complete book. This is a change from the format that Ms. Griffin usually delivers. Her books in the Tracer Series were stand alone books. Book 1 is more like a teaser and introduction volume that ends on a cliffhanger and Part 2 is really the main part of the story. In fact you could simply read Book 2 and skip Book 1. Normally I avoid this type of publication like the plague and even have a hit list of authors to avoid. This puts me in a real conundrum; do I put one of my favorite authors on the hit list of authors to avoid?

Off my soapbox and onto the review...

The Tracer Series by Laura Griffin is one of my favorite series and my expectations for this book were in line with what she delivers in those books. I wanted well developed characters but was disappointed. I found our heroine, Emma, to be annoying and not very likable. I liked our hero, Ryan, but found him a little flat compared to what Ms. Griffin normally writes. The supporting cast in this book was never really developed and seemed more like cardboard cutouts and faceless names.

The plot of this one was also a disappointment as the normal suspense and detail that I love about Ms. Griffin's writing was missing.

So I stepped back and asked myself. Were my expectations too high? Maybe they were. It's a decent read - Ms. Griffins' writing is always solid. However I did feel like this was a Harlequin version of what LG normally delivers as if this was an earlier work that she pulled out of the files and decided to publish.

Thanks to Net Galley, Ms. Griffin and Pocket Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Book 1 - Emma and Ryan met in the jungle when he and his SEAL team rescued her from a plane crash in the jungle. When she came home people were trying to kill her, he was trying to keep her safe and she disappeared.

Book 2, this book picks up where she is being searched for by Ryan and Jake. They get the FBI involved since that was where she was supposed to be going for a meeting with an agent. It's there, when the the agent finds out someone claiming to be her had set up a meeting with Emma that she gets the FBI resources involved. It's also there that Ryan and Jake get frozen out and they decide to find her on their own.

Ryan and Emma spend the rest of the book running from bad guys. Only now, Emma decides for certain she would rather have Ryan protect her than the government, since they have done such a bang up job of it already. (Sarcasm is meant, and Emma is sarcastic too remember.)

This gets more and more tangled up with the addition of even more bad guys and things go sideways. Nothing like running for your life to put it in perspective though. She really is falling for him and he, despite his attempts not to, is falling for her. But, can they stay alive long enough to tell each other? That is the big question.

While I certainly enjoy part one of the Alpha Crew, part 2 was anti climatic. It's enough that I will read book 3 hoping that things don't just stop, but if 3 isn't a follow through with the Emma and Ryan's story I may have to abort the mission. Sorry, couldn't help it. Seriously though, I enjoyed it and it's a super quick read so it's great for a road trip or a lazy afternoon.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was kindly give an ARC by Netgalley.

This book picks up where Emma was kidnapped.
Ryan is angry and crazy to be clear with her. Besides the plot
was well good, I kinda suspected who try to kill them and now Emma too. The plot could still be more elaborated but was very rush in the end.

Ryan surprise me he did everything to help her. And Jake too, what a good friend. Besides the macho alfa thing he was very commited.

Emma bored me in this book she was bitch around 'cause the little thing while she was kidnapped, ok Ryan did not want to be because of the case but she had more serious problems do dealt with. Besides her relationship with her father had no end or finished discussion.
Total different from the first book she was weak and she puts her life in danger because she was angry with him.

I received an ARC in exchange for a review and I have to say I was not disappointed at all. This book is a second in the Edge series and well, I have to confess that I did not read the first book because I just got this one and hoped maybe it would not need the first book to understand.

Turns out I understood this one without needing to read the first book but then as I was reading I just felt the need to have read the first one too cause the writing in this one was just too beautiful to ignore.

Ryan and Emma were lovely. this is a romance book but at one point with this one I felt it was more suspense than romance. yet it was not an issue for one but because as I said earlier, this book was beautifuly written.

First time I am reading anything by this author but it will not be the last.

First let me say that I was lucky enough to receive a review copy of this book. This book is the second part of at the Edge, the new Alpha Crew series by Laura Griffin. This book is action packed and constantly moving....no slow pace here. The story heats up fast and keeps on going to the end, and what an end! Laura did this right!
The heroine in this book is not someone to sit back and wait, no matter how scared she is, she fights the feelings and pushes ahead to do what needs to be done!
I'm thinking I would like a lot more of these characters because I can see there are other stories to be told!

What an amazing finish to this heart racing story!

Edge of Surrender picks up where At The Edge left off, with Emma missing. And Ryan doing anything he can think of to find her. We get a little more of Jake in this one. I'll be looking for his book now! Hopefully with Alexa!!

The action is off the charts heart stopping! I was sitting on the edge of my seat while reading it! There were also some pretty hot scenes with Ryan and Emma!

Laura has a great start to a series here! I'm very excited to see where she goes in the future with different characters! I need more Alpha Crew!!!

This half I'm giving 3.5. The chase is good, the climax heart pounding, but I wish Ryan and Emma engaged the villain more. The ending is unconventional, I like it, but given everything that went down, it felt kinda rushed and hanging. Not sure if we'll meet these two again, I hope we do, they need a proper HEA.

Both parts combined, I give the overall story 4 stars.
