Eric Pread broke up with his boyfriend a year ago, and has been apathetic about getting back out on the market. His friend Sabrina thinks he needs a nudge, and so she sends him a XP30 Sexbot to help him get back in the game.Sloot is the XP30 assigned to Eric. He's no ordinary android. His creator tinkered with him and gave him the ability to love. That isn't anything Eric wants in a sexbot, and he almost sends Sloot back when he finds out. But as time passes, they grow closer and closer and it becomes obvious that Sloot and Eric are two halves of a whole.
A little more substantial than I was expecting, and just as much fun. I did feel that for all Sloot's vaunted sexbot technique, he was rather crude and simplistic when they finally got to bed. (Not that Eric minded.)
When I picked up this story I was expecting a sexy piece of erotica about a man and his sex bot. After all, if I’d say I hadn’t thought about what it would be like to have sex with a robot I’d be lying. An interesting idea, indeed.
I adored this story, even if it wasn’t exactly what I expected. This was more romance than erotica, in my mind. There were indeed some well-written sex scenes but the romance was front and center. It had more heart, more passion than I was expecting and that was a good thing.
Eric is having trouble moving on from his last relationship so his friend gets him a sexbot. (How much would those things cost, I wonder?) However, even though Sloot is designed for Eric’s pleasure he refuses to hop right into bed with the android.
In fact, Eric insists and getting to know Sloot before they screw around. Their relationship builds slowly and by the time they sleep together I was convinced of their love. Yes, I said love. Sloot may be only an android but he has a ton of heart.
I felt for Sloot along with Eric when he described his previous owners and the things they did to him. The lengths that Eric goes to so he can protect Sloot is heartwarming and Sloot is genuinely touched by Eric’s actions.
“You protected me, just like you said he would,” he murmured.
I’m not saying this Shakespeare or anything but this was a pleasant short read.
This isn't really typical sci-fi/fantasy, but it does have a sexbot so...haha, that's what bookshelf I put it in! Also, and more importantly, this was a pleasant surprise to read! I really adored Sloot, and I loved how he fell in love with Eric and didn't know what he was feeling. This was sexy, but still sweet and romantic. More sexbots please!
