Sometimes I feel as though I was a glitch in life’s major plan, that I never had a place set aside for me in this world.
I’m an outcast by design. Bent in the head after childhood trauma, and never quite sure who I’m going to be day to day.
The nice guy?
The psychotic asshole?
Or some happy medium of the two?
People stay away for fear of what I can do, and I don’t blame them. After all, I have no conscience, no remorse, and no guilt for the horrific things I’ve done; the reasons why I’m the Fallen Aces MC’s best asset when it comes to retribution and punishment.
I deliver, without hesitation, and without doubt.
Until Abbey. One kiss, one taste, and I question everything.
Is this right?
Can I change?
What can I offer her?
She’s wild, unsociable, and guards her heart with the tenacity of a lioness.
I want to tame her. Break her spirit and make her mine.
Born and raised in Canterbury, New Zealand, Max now resides with her family in beautiful and sunny Queensland, Australia. Life with two young children can be hectic at times and, although she may not write as often as she would like, Max wouldn’t change a thing.
An avid lover of stories from a young age, she enjoys nothing more than to get lost in the pages while the characters dictate what direction she takes. Her favourite genre to write is new adult and the events in her stories may or may not be related to real life experiences (only she will ever know for sure).
In her down time, Max can be found at her local gym brainstorming through a session with the weights. If not, she’s probably out drooling over one of many classic cars on show that she wishes she owned.
Holy fuck! I'm speechless.. I admired Max Henry's writing from one of her very first books, I think she was the one that got me back into MC Romance. Ever since then, I didn't need to read a synopsis to know I will be adding her next put at the top of my TBR. There is something about her writing and bikers that makes you want to be stuck on an island and have practically no interruptions.
With TORMENTED I think, in a strange way, I might have part of my soul broken for Sawyer and Abbey... There is only so much darkness that you can "try" to understand before it becomes the ONLY REASON for you to just know rather than "try to". Max Henry did that with this book. This in my Top 10 now - for whatever that is worth :) I have read beautifully heartbreaking dark stories, those are the kinds that my soul needs to feel alive (I know, I'm weird like that..) and TORMENTED has become my new favorite!
I don't even need to mention Max Henry's writing, it's first class!!
With Sawyer and Abbey? Holy crap... You just need to know its the kinda story that will grab you by the heart, drunken your soul and then take over your sanity. And boy, that is only the start..
I LOVED Abbey! She is my sort of character. I connected with her on a personal level but even if that factor wasn't included, I still would love her kind personality, the darkness she has running through her veins and all the cracks of her heart that inevitable, takes over her control UNTIL she finds someone that truly sees far beyond what she wants everyone else to see.
Sawyer - oh dear Lord - I honestly WISH I could find a real life MC with a man like him!! Jesus.. He had me picking up drool every few pages.. But holy shit. Hes story? It will give your goosebumps and then some. I absolutely balled my eyes out when we got to her his side and couple that with Abbey's? Yeah, I think it's clear to say I went through a lot of Kleenex and plenty of chocolate..
The way their relationship formed... how it kept together... the reasons they pushed from each other.. how their connected each of their individual demons...
Every little detail of each of their life? It made this story BREATHE.
It went beyond just a love story.
Love was a major factor but it wasn't the biggest..
Each had their own scars, and in my POV, it's how they stitched each others cracks that made it a STUNNING book.
Some might say, keep your demons of a leash, keep them from ever leaving their cage. Other's might add "what demons? just get over it.."
Sawyer and Abbey? They breathed in the souls of their demons and learnt to love them, to live with them, and use them.
Ahhh bloody hell! This story can never be justified through a mere review - ever!! It has far too much emotion to ever be just another book on your kindle or your shelf. I knew going in I woud at least like it, so far, Max Henry never dissapointed. But I was not prepared to have my heart ripped open and still feel this strong of a love for just two characters.
It's just letters on a page. Words. They shouldn't mean this much to me.
Yet they fucking do. Every single chapter had a hold of my tears, and my uncontrolled sanity..
I wish I could re-read this book without knowing what happens.
ADDICTIVE.
STUNNING.
PURE.
UNIQUE.
DARK.
TWISTED.
AMAZING.
SOULFUL.
HEARTBREAKING.
INTENSE.
Thank you Max Henry for creating this world and these characters! THIS is the reason I love writing and reading - to find stories and characters that I wish were real... <3
THIS is what I was screaming earlier this year when I discovered Max Henry and The Fallen Aces .... "YES YES YES YES .... I have found a new MC read that is #fridiculously phenomenal!!" ... and I'm still screaming it without the new!
NOTE: You REALLY should read first three books of The Butcher Boys series before you read Tormented. At the very least, you should read Devil May Care ... that's just my opinion.
Now, on to the greatness that continues to be Max Henry! There's no pretty way to say this so I'll just come right out and say it ... Sawyer and Abbey are two fucked up souls LOL But together, they are exactly what each other needs. #fantastic
I'm not gonna sugar coat this ... this story is dark. It is cringe worthy. It is not for the faint at hearts. There are NO gumdrops but maybe a rainbow ;) You will get caught up in all the torment (the book is ridiculously well titled). It will feel like it's happening to you. The writing style and story flow is really smooth and characterization never waivers. I am highly impressed with every aspect of this book and highly recommend it to all MC readers out there!
Side note: Don't blame me if your hearts literally shatters at the end :) Mine did!
Sawyer had to be the most complexed character, he's dark and twisted, he's psychotic. Abbey has her own problems. She escaped her crazed life as a kid and the MC have looked after her since. But it left scars, she's a little antisocial and she needs someone who understands to give her the strength to live with her pain. As a couple, will they save each other or will it be the end for them both.
Don't expect this amazing book to be the usual romance, it is a love story - but boy, the relationship that develops between Abbey and Sawyer is far from the usual. This story just blew me away. I can't say I laughed much, it's not that type of story, I cried several times - it was heart breaking, and I grimaced a lot, nothing is left to the imagination. Sawyer can only be described as the evil monster from under your bed and broken, scared Abbey has her own boogey men she must fight daily.
I love Max Henry's writing, it's incredible. I'm looking forward to the next in the series, I can't wait.
Tormented (Fallen Aces MC Book 3) Max Henry 5 stars
Holy wow .. Sawyer and Abbey girl …. DANG! Oh and the devil himself. Max Henry is a brilliant writer but this has to be her best yet. This is the story of two brutally tormented souls maybe hoping that their jagged edges fit together.
I have been worried and waiting for Abbey just as much as Sawyer. After the loss of Dana and her ability to calm the devil inside, Sawyer doesn’t know if he can ever let anyone close again. The girl is a challenge and all he has done is tease and bully her just like all the other club members.
Watching her break apart, making her run and crumble has been all she has ever done. Hooch and King have kept her from becoming what the other club “women” have said she needs to in order to earn her keep. Fingers would gut a man himself if she was hurt. Maybe he should stay away. The fight to bring down his father can only bring more blood.
Abbey has been told to stay away from Sawyer. The pretty boy will break her and that is not what she needs according to Hooch and King. How do they know what she needs. Only Fingers .. the man who has been like a father to her knows about her past and he doesn’t know everything. No one knows the horror she endured. Evan was a monster. The man who molded her.
There are so many ties in this story. If you have not read the Butcher Boys series you wont be lost but there is mention of them in this release as they play a part in hunting Carlos. I loved the series so I would pick it up. One of them also has involvement with Ramona and Mack. The Fallen Aces series also spins off from that series. However again I can say if you are reading this as your first Max Henry book you wont be lost or confused.
Sawyer and Abbey’s story is gut wrenching. Glimpses into the past and how Sawyer leads his life are somewhat hard to swallow but expected. If you have a queasy stomach then this one might be too much but I can honestly say I have read worse. You can also skip the most vivid part when it comes to Cash which is only a paragraph long and get the idea of what he did. In my mind Sawyer is a man who cleans up the scum … so Im not real concerned with his “itch.”
There are questions that I do need answered and Max has said she will get to them. Thank you lord! Make sure you read the Note From Max and always read the dedications and after thoughts. You never know what you miss not including those in your reading.
I will tell you this is a standalone per say – however the last page … when you hit 99 percent on your Kindle … holy bee-je-zus … Max what have you done to me. I seriously sat here for at least five minutes and looked into the air with the biggest you have go to be junking kidding me look on my face.
Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets ---
Thank you Max for the ARC! This was incredible. The cover is amazing and I loved every word.
“She’s fing with me, playing hard to get. Thing is, I’m never one to let prey go. Especially when it presents a fair workout to catch it.”
Heat Rating:
5 Tormented stars!!! Another great book in the series… Max Henry never disappoints!!!
I’ve been reading this series since the beginning, so I knew I was going to be in for one heck of a book. And once again I wasn’t disappointed! I was hooked the minute I started reading and couldn’t put it down until the end. It’s packed full of heat, action and romance. But don’t think for one second your head won’t be messed with, because trust me it will be!!! Just brace yourself and prepare to be Tormented!!!

"All I have to do is take it one step at a time. Inhale. Exhale. The secret to survival is as simple as taking the next breath."
Jump down the rabbit hole with Sawyer and Abbey just don't forget to breathe as this is one hell of a ride. Sanity is sometimes over rated as Sawyer proves, battling with his alter ego yet in the end he needs the man in the head just as much as he needs oxygen to survive. Embracing the darkness whilst trying not to be totally consumed by it Tormented is a beautifully written story of a man dealing with his mental health issues and coming to terms with "his normal", acceptance of his differences and how by learning to embrace he can help another tortured soul. Abbey is the wild child, the street rat, the crazy kid the MC saved from the streets. Part of the club but never fully part of the Family she has kept her distance, too damaged to trust them with her secrets. The past threatens to consumes her, over shadowing her present yet he seems to be able to keep the darkness away. Unable to unlock the key to driving her own monsters away Abbey is willing to risk it all to learn how he battles his devil and seemingly wins...most of the time. A dark dance with the devil's of a fractured soul Tormented is one of the best reads of 2016. The writing style is haunting and at times feels ethereal, it's so poignant that I couldn't help feel the ache in my temples at times. I laughed, I cried and I felt my heart grow heavy with all they have survived. The ending...well....no words, but in way that left me feeling split. I loved it. Max Henry is one of my go to authors. Can't wait to read the next one!
A five star there's nothing wrong with being broken read.
Holy flipping hell. I knew Sawyer was messed up, I knew this was going to be one hell of a ride but this was so much more than I expected. I wondered as I read how it would end, would he end up dead because there's no way he's going to be magically fixed. The devil inside won't be silenced, he takes the reader on a slippery slope, sliding down into the dark and dirty depths of his mind, a place with no remorse. As much as you may want to dislike Sawyer you won't be able to. By the time you see what's deep inside him your already so invested you can't fault him, you can't turn your back no matter what he reveals. Abbey was messed up from childhood and no matter how much she wants Sawyer everyone thinks he's the worst possible person for her. They treat her like a second class citizen basically, thinking she's beyond messed up and will never be normal. But what if that person who's just as messed up if not more is just what the other needs?
Sawyer want's to help Abbey, but he also wants her. He has some deeper needs that are brought out by her, ones that only she can fulfill. While we see the darkest of him we also see the a part of Sawyer he didn't realize existed. Their story is not fairy tale, if it is it's a dark, depraved, twisted tale.
And the end, that very last page broke me, I was right there with Sawyer ready to ball. Way to wrap up one hell of a journey!!
When angels fear to tread in you're presence, then only a devil will bring the calm you desire.
Tormented, Some people would battle the devil inside of their heads Sawyer embraced his, the inner voices brought him balance especially when he had dirty work to do.
Abbey, a girl rescued by the club from an abused childhood taken in as a child and became part of the family . Abbey still wrestles her own demons, memories of her past that brings insecurities.
Tormented is a story of two people who are drawn to each other, want to discover each other and gain understanding of how the other one ticks and this is there story of bittersweet.
I haven't read previous books and really think I would of benefited reading them, knowing what had happened previously in the club and around the lives of both the characters, a series of events to this point and an outsiders view of both characters.
I didn't connect to the characters, I felt I had joined the story half way through with certain references by Sawyer so I would recommend reading previous books.
It's a tough one for me to sum up I lost the plot a few times.
For those who have followed the series I'm sure you will enjoy finally get a glimpse at the messed up mind of Sawyer and the girl who quiets the voices in his head and see Abbey finally find her peace and get her man.

Tormented, book 3 of the in the Fallen Saints series by Max Henry just didn’t do much for me. I had a hard time connecting to the characters, even after meeting most of them in the first three books (Tormented is not a stand-alone and the first two books of the Fallen Saints series must be read beforehand). One of the main characters, Sawyer was all over the place. Now in his defense, Sawyer is self-proclaimed at crazy and oh boy, does he live up to it. Abbey, the main female character, is a mess also. Yes, she didn’t have a good childhood, but I never understood why she had a crush on Sawyer, especially with the way he treated her. (I also wasn’t a fan of Abbey’s opinion of Ramona (her book is #2 and I thought she was one strong woman to put-up with all the stuff the Sawyer put her through but I will chalk Abbey’s opinion of her up to jealousy.) Tormented is a gritty MC book. Although he is occasionally nice, Sawyer just wasn’t likeable to me. I thought the story was a little choppy and I just had a hard time following everything.
I have to say that from the beginning of reading Mrs. Henry's books I have been hoping that Sawyer would get his own book. That he would get his own kind of happily ever after. Especially after the way Devil May Care ended, I was hoping by some miraculous luck that Dana had survived. And that we would get another Dana and Sawyer would get their HEA. Unfortunately that isn't the case. Tormented is the third book in the Fallen Aces series and we get Sawyer and Abbey.
I have to admit I kind of have mixed feelings about this book. I guess I just never imagined Sawyer and Abbey together.
I will say this I have loved Sawyer from the beginning. Ever since the Butcher Boy's series, when everyone else didn't seem to like him. And especially after Devil May Care. There was something pulled me to him. That even though he had a devil in his that made him do crazy things. That there was a completely different side to him.
Oh Abbey.... I have to say I just couldn't get into Abbey in this book. Now we have seen her a few times throughout the Butcher Boy's series and than this Fallen Angel Series. If you don't know who Abbey is, well she's the young girl that Apex (the former Fallen Angels president) rescued. She kind of irritated me at the beginning of the book and I found her to be a bit rude at the same time. Loom I get the girl had her own demons she was battling.
Overall even though I couldn't really get into Abbey. Or get into Abbey and Sawyer. I did really enjoy this book. It's dark and twisty.
I'm giving this book 4 Stars out of 5!!!!
***I received an ARC of this book from Enticing Journey Book Promotions for my honest opinion***
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
This is about two tormented souls. Sawyer is trying to deal with the loss of the one true woman that could chase his devil away. He is out for revenge against the man who he called father for taking her away from him. The one thing he never expected on standing in front of him is the "wild child" that is under the MC's protection.
Abbey has her own demons she is trying to forget about. she needs to learn to live with them and feels Sawyer is the one who can teach her. only problem is Sawyer wants to know the past and Abbey cannot give it to him. That is the one thing she has never told anyone the entire truth about.
I was never a big Sawyer fan but after reading this he is amazing the way he deals with his devil and how he begins to treat Abbey. I love how all the guys protect Abbey and say and do what they feel is right for her. But only Sawyer would do what he did for Abbey to show he loves her. This is not a hearts and flower story it is dark and twisted but I enjoyed it. Seeing these two help each other and seeing how much they had in common was great.
A few of my favorite lines:
When Angels fear to tread in your presence, then only a devil will bring the calm you desire.
I want to make him need me as much as he needs that voice in his head. I want his broken parts to shine shattered sunlight on mine to make a stunning kaleidoscope of courage.
I am really enjoying this MC series. So glad I can read straight on to the next book. This is Sawyer's and Abbey's story and what a different kind of romance it is! No one, Sawyer included, ever thought he would find a true love, someone who understood so completely....until Abbey. The pair open up to each other in the weirdest of situations, and bam! There it is, the perfect couple.
I smile at the picture. One for the fridge. “Who’s your friend? He from playgroup?”
Three days a week, Abbey takes him for a few hours at our local community center so Leyton has a chance to work on his social skills.
My boy shakes his head, shuffling closer until his legs rest against my side. “No.”
“Do I know him?” His icy-blue eyes harden, and he frowns. “Maybe.”
“Where does he live?” If it’s one of the neighborhood kids, I’ll get Abbey to take him over for a play more often.
“Up here.”
The picture crumples in my hands as my angel, the fucking light in my dark, lifts his pudgy hand and taps a finger square to his temple.
Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it . . .?
When we first met Sawyer in the Butcher Boys series, he was nothing but trouble with a capital T. What happened to him was tragic. In Tormented, we find that Sawyer is just a normal, well not at all normal, guy that just wants to be loved.
Abbey ran away from home when she was six… SIX years old. Yes, there is a major back story there. She was picked up by the then Prez of the Fallen Aces MC and taken to the clubhouse. Abbey has such a tortured soul, that you just cannot help feeling hurt everything for her.
She has been lusting after Sawyer since she was a young girl, but like all the others, he just makes fun of her and blows her off. Until he really sees her.
Can these two lost souls connect and help each other find true love? This ‘love’ story has so much more, murder, trafficking, drugs, and retribution. Max Henry has this series on FIRE and I’m begging for the next book, I’m on the edge of my seat already wanting to know what happens next.
Had some pretty morbid moments. Two very damaged souls coming together and helping each other. I work with people who suffer from schizophrenia so reading this book was very interesting for me. Overall so far in this series I'm finding the writing a bit difficult because there seems to a lot of things that have happened which have never come up in previous books or in the current one so it made it a bit difficult to read at times. In other words the flow was off. Subject matter and characters are all great though so I will finish the series. I will also read the "Butcher Boys" series as they have come up in other books.
Absolutely love Tormented and Fallen Aces Series. Sawyer is one of my favorite Fallen Aces. I am so glad he got his HEA. Abbey is our leading lady and she is the perfect Queen for Sawyer and his Devil. We get a different view of Ramona and frankly I no longer care for her character now I see why she gave Tyler such a hard time. I am still left with a few questions that I hope get answered in the next three books. I highly recommend this series. Happy Reading!!!
I liked the first two books in this series. I really did. But that's all...just "liked" it. This book? I fell for Sawyer almost immediately! Maybe I'm a sucker for the bruised and battered bad boy with a hidden heart, but there was something really poetic about Sawyer. And then Abbey...with her subdued sexiness and curious personality, they were destined from the start. And then that ending...ugh! Tears!
An interesting book that really kept me engaged from start to finish. Who would have thought that two people with such intense mental health issues could work together in any way. The delivery of this story is extremely well done and the characters are a complex mix of disturbed, yet loyal and loving , while also capable of, at times, extreme violence. I really enjoyed this book and I loved Abbey and Sawyer, they are definitely different to the norm.
2.5 stars. A bit OTT in the childhood trauma department. Story was hard to follow at times. Sawyer was hard to like. His ex old lady/baby mama was awful to h (starting from when h was 11!). I have little respect for a guy who attaches himself to a horrid human. Also, who was this Dana person he fell in love with after 2 days of knowing her and taking her virginity? Both relationships took away from Sawyer and Abbey’s. Whereas Hooch and Abbey’s hookups made total sense.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is the best of the Fallen Aces MC series and the third book. Great plot and well developed characters and storyline. But why 4 Stars, Oh my goodness Honey, Bless your heart, still reading phrases and words that are definitely from a foreign dialect and it just distracts from the greatness of this book 😁 Still totally recommend it 🔥😍🔥
This was a struggle to finish. The first book in the series was so amazing but this one just left so much to be desired. I understand broken and I understand someone who loves you wanting to get into your crazy box and play with you, rather than pull you out of it. But this, it just took it to extremes.
There's some very damaged people in this book and I liked how they worked with each other and that gave acceptance and then love. But I felt that it was all a bit glossed over. It was told more than shown and there's a lot of unsettled bits - which I get are in later books but it just left me feeling it was a bit unfinished.
Jeez this book gave me chills. The darkness Sawyer lives within him and poor Abby. This book proves that from two broken people who feel love is too much can find light in eachother.
