She can’t stop daydreaming about the cocky bastard—and all the things she longs to do to him out behind the chutes. Professional bullfighter Dean MacKinnon is home helping his family while his father fights cancer. Haunted by bad memories, jaded by love, Dean finds escape in a no-strings-attached go-round with brainy, sexy Monica, whose close-knit Sikh-American family would sooner run him out of town than see her with a notorious rodeo romeo. Contains rope play, motel nooners, and a cowboy charmer with a taste for kink.

 :

Cowboy Resurrection is book two in the series, Cowboy Cocktail, by Mia Hopkins. In the short span of the pages of this book, Mia has managed to somehow fit an entire story, beginning, middle and end. I never felt rushed or overwhelmed and she made me sigh, made my tummy flutter, and made my toes curl. What more could a girl ask for?

Bull fighter and a bull:

Monica Kaur’s family is from India, Sikh-American. Although her family still lives by their strict traditions, she has managed to make a name for herself in the marketing world and has landed her dream job in Silicon Valley. But she has put everything on hold for a few months while she returns home to Oleander to try to save her family’s Inn. She has put her marketing skills to work and is planning to put Oleander back on the map and hold Oleander Rodeo Days. To make it a success, she needs to enlist the local bull fighting hero, Dean Mackinnon to participate. But he hasn’t exactly been answering his calls.

love him:

Dean left the circuit to come home and help run his family’s ranch. His father is sick with cancer and they need his help. When Monica first approached him face to face, she was a hard woman to say no to. The attraction to her was immediate. It didn’t take long for them to give in to it and let me tell you, it was definitely steamy. Their sexual desires were equal in intensity.

 :

They had to keep their fling a secret, though. Even though Monica is thirty-two years old, the cultural differences in their upbringings would never allow them to be together. Monica’s family expects or rather demands that she marry a man from the same heritage as she is. They would never accept a cowboy.

“Both of them were stuck here only in passing, two roads intersecting in the middle of nowhere on their way to somewhere else.”

 :

I absolutely loved this book just as much or maybe even more than the first one. I loved the characters and my heart broke for them and the situation they found themselves in. And the ending, sigh, was just wonderful. This is an amazing series and I am so glad I found this author.

4 - "That one's a keeper." Stars!

I really enjoyed the first book in Mia Hopkins’ Cowboy Cocktail series, but I have to say Cowboy Resurrection was even better!

This is another quick and dirty read, but I found that the author took a little more time to develop the backgrounds of Dean and Monica. I liked them as a couple and I liked them as individuals, neither was afraid to say exactly what they wanted, and the confidence they both had around each other just took their insta-connection and made it sizzle.

"Why so lonely, Princess?"

But they both know it’s not a forever kind of thing they are sharing, what with Monica’s familial obligations, and Dean’s lack of interest in settling down.

"Let’s not say goodbye…
The song will end.
I’ll go my way, and you’ll go yours.
And maybe no matter where we go, no matter where we end up, there will always be some part of us on this dance floor…"

Short, a little kinky and pretty sweet at the end, I look forward to reading the next novella in the series Cowboy Player when it releases at the end of June.

Monica Kaur has returned to her hometown to help promote a rodeo in order to help out her brother's business. She just needs to meet with a local bull riding hero, Dean MacKinnon, to get him to sign up to help with the rodeo to make it a success but after a few No's and several unreturned phone calls Monica needs to get a little creative to enlist Dean's help.

When Monica and Dean meet the two are immediately attracted but with Monica's protective family that expects her to marry a Sikh, not a rodeo cowboy, the pair find themselves beginning a secret affair. Monica and Dean agree that their affair will have to end after the rodeo anyway and they are both consenting adults but will the pair be able to part after so much time together?

A wonderful little read with an opposites attract theme. Monica is the good "girl" that wants to please her family but has also built herself a life in the city but when she returns home she tries to please them but stay true to her own wants and desires. Dean is the hot and sexy cowboy that tried marriage once but doesn't plan on ever letting himself fall in love again. The two have chemistry that is off the charts and compliment each other wonderfully.

The religious aspect of Monica's family was also an interesting added element to the story making the romance a bit taboo if she wants to stay the perfect daughter in her families eyes. I found it a bit frustrating that someone in their thirties wouldn't stick up for their relationship but I'm not from a family with their views so it was an eye opener to think she would give up Dean for her family.

Overall, great characters with a steamy hot relationship.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Another show-stopper from the wonderful Mia Hopkins. A truly great short read.

This book had it all:

*Well developed, intriguing main characters
*Sublime writing
*Fast-paced plot
*Scorching chemistry and tons of the sexy stuff
*Interesting world building

AND

*Cowboys ('nuff said)
*An interracial relationship (and the challenges that invoked)
*Cultural introduction to the American-Sikh community which I found completely absorbing and thoroughly refreshing and original.

I read Cowboy Valentine last year, and enjoyed it, so when the opportunity arose to read the next book in the series, I jumped at it. This was an even better read, and Mia has managed to accomplish what most writers haven't accomplished for me - hook me on a book of this length. Most times I read shorter novels, I am left feeling disappointed in the character development. Mia delivered in this regard, on this occasion. I adore her writing too; it's beautiful.

Dean and Monica fall into insta-lust pretty much straight away, but their relationship develops more naturally as the book progresses. I was left fanning my face in several places at their sexy shenanigans, and their chemistry was off the charts. I loved the risque nature of their relationship, and the fact they had to sneak around behind her family's back.

It was in equal parts fascinating and abhorrent to witness Monica's transformation from super-intelligent highly-successful career woman into a meek, cringing shell of herself whenever her family were around. To think this is the reality for many women in the modern day is shocking and saddening. Though, I could relate to her father's sentiment when he told Dean they had to protect their minority community and ensure their traditions and culture didn't die out. I can understand that on one level, but on another level if you are living in a different country you also have to adapt your culture to align to the culture of the country you are now a resident of. The balance/marriage has to be correct, and I don't believe it's right for any grown woman to be basically forced into marrying against her will (though it has to be said they weren't picking the guy or actually forcing her into an arranged marriage but the effect was going to be pretty much the same.)

I loved the diversity and all the little Sikh influences. One thing I wish had been shown was exactly how Dean managed to change her family's minds. I felt that part was too rushed, and it seemed too convenient. That's the only reason I knocked off a half star, otherwise, the book was perfection on a page.

In summary, this is a superb read, and if you are looking for a quick read that is refreshingly different then you should pick up a copy.

Wow, wow, and wow. Where do I start?

Of the hundred things I loved about this book (great writing, sizzling love scenes, rich sensory descriptions, fun secondary characters), the main two I'd have to boil it down to are PREMISE and CHARACTER. Premise: Sikh businesswoman falls for a hurting cowboy - that's what lends this book such depth and makes it rise above "typical" cowboy stories. As for character, well, I was in love with the hero even before the heroine was! The heroine, meanwhile, is truly worthy of the name, too - not just book-feisty but truly special, a woman on her own two feet. The love that blossoms between them is unrushed, genuine, true. *sigh* I loved this book from start to finish and highly recommend it, and not just for fans of western romance.

A few of the many passages I highlighted:
"Okay. Remember the stuff I said during the dance, about you going your way and me going mine?"
"Yeah."
"Total bullshit." He rubbed the wool brim of his hat...
(God, I love this guy!)

In the poppy field:
The riotous color grabbed her eyes and wouldn't let go. Everything dulled in comparison to that vivid orange. The dry grasses that just a moment ago seemed so yellow had turned a dull straw color. Even the clear blue sky appeared grayer.
Only Dean MacKinnon's eyes stood out, those pools of cool, pure blue.

And in yet another hot love scene:
"It's going to be a long night, princess," he said.
"I'm counting on it, cowboy," she whispered.

ARC copy received for honest review, but I have already pre-ordered the book, thinking it looked good. And damn, was I right!

This book opens up with Monica Kaur needing to talk to a local rodeo star Dean MacKinnon. She needs this rodeo to be a success not just for her but, for the town, and her families new venture into buying an inn that she thought was a mistake. In her family though she does not have a say. Her older brother does even though he does not have the business degree from Stanford that Monica does. Dean finally agrees to go out to look at the site for the rodeo and after they talk they end up kissing. After a few days working together to get everything in place for the rodeo he takes to a place that she did not know about even though she grew up there. The more they spent time together working the more their physical attraction for one another heated up and because of her family they had to go to a town far away for their time together this went on until right before the rodeo and they were seen by one of her aunts coming out of an hotel. By the time they got back into town it had blown up and she was for bidden to see him even though she was a grown woman of 28. Her family being of India and him being white and not of the same faith caused a stir. She leaves town after the rodeo for a new job in the bay area and he is stuck trying to come up with a way to show her father that he is truly in love with his daughter. You must read the book to find out what happens. This is a good story. I got this book from netgalley. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

3.5 stars.

I really enjoyed the beginning and end of this quick, hot read. The problem was, there is no middle. There’s a lot of nice groundwork laid between Monica and Dean, with their instant attraction scorching the pages as they get to know each other and start working together. Dean gradually manages to coax Monica into letting down her guard and things between them get very heated. Then it’s three weeks later and the story starts winding up for the end.

It was a bit of a jolt, and even though most of what is missing in those three weeks appears to be sex, I still would have liked to have read at least some of it. Mostly because of how things clearly change and deepen between them. These are two very different people – Monica is a business brainy girl with a family who interfere constantly in her life, while Dean is a brave, confident rodeo star with a sick father and romantic scars. The start of the book makes an excellent job of showing them just starting to get to know each other, then the next thing we know its ropes and toys and their time is coming to an end.

Actually, the kink felt pretty superfluous to me. From the description I was expecting a lot more, but really, the rope adds nothing. Because we don’t see their relationship progress to that point, it comes out of nowhere, adds very little to the scene and felt more like an attempt to make this a little hotter. It didn’t need it. These two are already scorching together.

So, as you can tell, I found this book a little frustrating. What we get is really good. I loved these two together, both in the bedroom and out. I loved the hint of Sikhism and the clash of cultures between Monica’s family and Dean. I loved Dean, the things he’s dealing with and how he faces his problems. I like Monica too and the things she was willing to do for her (sometimes overbearing) family. It ticks so many of the right boxes for me, that the missing middle feels worse than it normally would.

Overall this is an enjoyable hot romance that’s about more than just sex. It has interesting characters and some compelling chemistry. Just be prepared to fill in some of the gaps for yourself. However, as sad as that missing middle makes me, I still think this is a good read and would gladly read more from this author.

Loved it!

Cowboy Valentine was one of my favorite reads last year and I enjoyed this one just as much. Like Valentine, Resurrection has a rough, tough cowboy and a smart, sexy heroine who can't get enough. These characters are older, though, in their thirties. They're both confident, successful and experienced. Monica is a savvy businesswoman and Dean is a famous bearded bullfighter. She asks him to star in the rodeo she's organizing. He's more interested in getting in her pants than starring in her rodeo, but he can multitask. Yeeeehaw!

I really loved the sense of place. I've been to CA's Central Valley and I know a CA author when I read one. The setting details are fantastic. This isn't Hopkins' first rodeo, either. She writes about cowboy culture with a deft hand. The writing is excellent, the emotions leap off the page, and the sex is downright earthy.

Once again, the author gives us a well-endowed hero and a small/tight heroine. This matchup always makes me think "ouch," but the heroine loves it. If you like monster cocks, this one's for you.

About the multicultural element. I giggled in delight at some of the banter between the hero and heroine, including the "where are you from, originally?" conversation. It was spot on and gently funny. I believed in the pressure Monica felt from her strict religious family. I did feel that the portrayal of Sikh men as stern and joyless contrasted too sharply to the cowboys, who were all hot and sexy. I wished for a fun sister for Monica or hot brother to balance that out. However, Dean's conversation with Monica's father is wonderful, and went a long way to bridge the gap between cultures.

All in all, this is a feel-good romance with a strong, career-minded heroine, a swoon-worthy working class hero, a great setting and lots of lovingly detailed sex. 4.75/5

Writing sample:

He lowered his lips to her ear. "I could see it in your eyes the moment you walked into the Silver Spur. I can feel it rising off you now."

She closed her eyes as his warm breath washed over her skin. "What?"

"You're a woman in need of lovin'. I could help you with that. I'd love you up good."

Inter-racial and with BDSM elements.

Monica Kaur is the epitome of the good girl. After her fiancée dumped her and quickly married another, her family see her sitting on the shelf and decide to marry her off. She returns home to help with her family's ailing inn business and spearheads a local rodeo to bring in much needed cash to the area. Enter Dean MacKinnon, local badboy rodeo star, with a laundry list of conquests!

Dean is trying to ignore the exotic beauty but finally caves and givers her advice on the rodeo. As they are pulled together more and more often finalising the rodeo details they surrender to the scorching hot chemistry they share and Dean introduces Monica to some non nice girl sexy times!!! But when they are caught almost in the act will Monica bow to family pressure and honour her family's wishes or will she follow her heart to Dean, knowing that he's not strong on commitment? Will Dean find in Monica what he's been missing or will he leave her disappointed and despondent?

An absolute must read!!! Fabulous characters with a great insight on religious and cultural differences within even long established Indian/Sikh-American families. Brilliantly well written and Dean could scorch the stoutest timber!!! Give me more!!!!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is a fun read, with a rather lovely message in it, and with some good research to make it realistic - both in terms of rodeo and also Sikhism. For quite a short book, this packs in a good chunk of story.

Monica and Dean are a match made in cowboy country, but a need to respect the traditions of her parents ensures that any encounters have to be in secret. And wow, they have some seriously hot 'meetings' about the upcoming rodeo in all manner of discreet places. Love the passion and fun that these two have until the rodeo comes to town. To find out what happens next, you will have to read the story - but it is lovely.

I really loved this cowboy read! It was short, sweet and to the point. The story-line was well thought out and the challenges in the story were very well addressed. This wasn't just a western bluff piece. It involved interracial relationship issues, religious and cultural issues as well. All very well packed into a short read. It was deliciously sexy with plenty of chemistry between our leads and a very believable insta-lust to HEA trope.
I loved it so much, I'm going back to read the first in the series, Cowboy, Valentine!!

We get an Indian Sikh FM, Monica Kaur, in this one! I would love to hear from Indian Sikh reviewers as to how they felt the representation was.

This book has:
"it's just sex"
friends-with-benefits, no-strings-attached
not necessarily a vacation fling but a situational fling as Monica stays with her parents in Oleander for a bit!
save-the-family-business (her family's failing inn)
opposites attract / good girl x bad boy

We get to know Dean MacKinnon in this book, the eldest brother! He works with Monica on a rodeo idea to bring in more business to her family's inn, and while they work together, it becomes harder and harder to ignore the growing sexual tension between them! They finally give in, and still will only admit that it's "just sex", but inevitably fall for the other.

Monica is meant to get married in finding a new match approved by her parents, since her fiancee broke up with her only to marry someone else almost immediately (I support everyone finding their person, but fuck that dude). She also knows she will go back to Silicon Valley after the three months are up, but Dean's life as a professional bullfighter is in Oleander so their relationship is unlikely to grow beyond their sex-with-benefits time-sensitive agreement.

I really enjoy love stories like this because both people are so convinced that they could *never* catch feelings. I find it hilariously entertaining, and I will continue to read this trope until I die hahaha.

steam rating: 4/5

cw: rope play, kink rep, questionable comments about race from Dean at times (maybe meant to show his ignorance at first?)
*I'm also noting forced-animal-labor as a CW because I don't like the rodeo or any business that forces animals to work for them but I also recognize that I enjoy these books anyway - look, I'm an annoyingly complicated human hahahaha

A unique cowboy story. Loved the interracial family drama and it was so refreshing to see a unique heroine in a cowboy story, yet again from this series. The only other Sikh I’ve read in a cowboy story is Front Runner by Elsie Silver yet so many communities have Sikh farmers. Loved seeing it!

I also really liked how Dean is a reluctant playboy. I rarely like the idea of a rake for the sake of rake but his experienced past felt like it had purpose and built his character, his angst and his connection with Monica.

Really enjoyed this read!

I've thoroughly enjoyed the books in the Cowboy Cocktail series that I've read so far and Cowboy Resurrection was no exception.

Monica and Dean came from very different background but had to work together when he agreed to help her plan a rodeo in their small town.

They were attracted to each other from the get go but due to her overbearing, protective and honour conscious family they couldn't be open about their fling. Monica's family expected more of her than to settle with a cowboy regardless of how she felt about things.

They were hot and passionate together and it broke my heart a little when she had to bow to pressure from her family, return home to the city and leave her heart behind.
Having been hurt in the past by his ex, would Dean pull up his cowboy pants and fight for his girl or would he move on, get back to his old life and forget her?

A great cast of characters, catching up with Dean's brothers and his folks was fun and let us find out more about them.

I can't wait for more of this great series by Mia Hopkins

Two worlds collide in a time where all things should be acceptable. This love really should not by Monica Kaur’s family and religion. Monica comes from the Indian Sikh-American community. She’s part of the Singh family but the Sikh women adopt the Kaur name until they marry. Her grandfather had moved to Merced, California in 1919, from India. They saved money and bought a place outside of Oleander and has been farming grapes ever since.
While she was living in Berkeley she found out the news. She was beyond mad. Her impulsive brother, Ravinder, had put in a bid on The Rambling Ranch Inn that had gone up for auction. Her parents had borrowed against the farm to buy the inn and the thousand acres it sat on. He got them to sink more money into it when she had run the numbers and they refused to listen. Saying her brother had a dream. But really what did she know? She was the only one with the degree in marketing and a master’s in business for goodness sakes. The inn by all rights needed to be torn down.
So now she was meeting with Dean MacKinnon not just any cowboy. She was getting ready to enter the bar owned by Tom Shelton who was going to be nice enough to do the introductions since Dean never seems to return calls or answers emails. Tom is very excited about the idea Monica has planned to help her family raise money for their inn which in turn helps all the businesses in town. A win-win situation.
Tom took her to the table the brothers were both at. The men see her and both stand right up. Monica gasps a reaction to two giant, handsome men. Both are tanned, dusty, wearing jeans, boots, and long-sleeved button-down shirts. Clark the taller of the two was cute, but the buff and bearded Dean looked even hotter than his rodeo photos online. She smelled the warm leather, after shave, dirt, skin, and sweat. Her celibate body was standing at attention.
Tom made introductions the men tipped their hats but Dean shot Tom an annoyed look. Monica spoke to Dean saying how he was hard to get ahold of. He peered his bright blue eyes at her and said, “We’ve already had this conversation over the phone. The answer’s the still no.” After much discussion and Clark’s teasing and then she showed him the Webpage then he asked about the performances. The problem he saw off the bat is that she had it scheduled between to major rodeos in the Central Valley and no one would save to come to some Podunk town. She admitted what he was saying rang true but that is why she needed him.
She started to stroke his ego, make an appearance. Let us put your name on the marquee. You would be a great draw for attendees. You’re a local legend. Then the look of disgust was back. Bullshit would not win him over so she spoke before he could. Before saying yes or no let me show you the arena and get your take on it. Please. You’re the expert. She really needed his thoughts. Clark said go with her. Outnumbered Dean pushed back his chair and stood.
After looking over the site they sit under a tree discussing what he sees. As their talking Dean starts to notice the difference between them and the color of her skin, her eyes and likes it. As they talk the chemistry is there too. Monica already knew she had a thing for Dean before she even met him just from all the research on him. But that impact of meeting him was Wow! The next thing she knows Dean leans over and kisses her. All systems are a go. They agree to another meeting to get stuff ready for the rodeo. Meaning he was all in.
Can two worlds meet in the middle? Or will they have to sneak around? In this day and age this seems unreal but when we know we do what we need to do. I give this 4 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at:

I love a story that surprises me by putting a different spin on the standard trope of boy meets girl, they travel a rocky road to happiness, but everything ends up OK. Mia Hopkins uses different cultures to demonstrate the pressures that people may experience as they try to find their soul mate.
In the first book of the Cowboy Cocktail series, Cowboy Valentine, the heroine was a strong, smart Hispanic young woman who tried to please her family, blaze her own trail and still find happiness with one of the McKinnon brothers. The McKinnons are a ranching family with four sons, each of whom has specific talents and aspirations.
In the second book of the series, Cowboy Resurrection, the oldest of the McKinnon brothers is a rodeo bullfighter who has returned home to help out while his father battles cancer. Monica Kaur is a marketing maven who has also returned to their hometown to try to help her brother’s failing hotel turn around. She brings a rodeo to the small ranching community in hopes that it will cause all of the businesses in town to flourish.
Now, here is where the book really grabbed my attention. Monica’s family are Sikhs. I’ve never read a romance that involved anyone from that culture. It makes for a different kind of love story, one that will take an alternate path if it is to reach an HEA.
Monica’s family expects that she will marry someone from their culture, and there are no ifs, ands or buts about it. When she begins hanging out with Dean McKinnon, they fall in lust and begin secret assignations in motels, Dean’s pickup and out in the countryside. Of course, Monica’s family finds out and her brothers and father firmly put a stop to it. The problem is, Monica and Dean have fallen in love. How in the world are Dean and Monica going to overcome her family’s anger at being lied to and also the fact that Dean is not a man of the Sikh faith and culture? The story becomes very creative, romantic and ultimately believable to get Dean and Monica to their HEA.
I loved this clash of cultures as a platform for romance. Mia Hopkins is an imaginative author who doesn’t take the easy road to a formulaic book. I look forward to the stories of the other two McKinnon brothers.

Phew--Cowboy Resurrection is a smoking hot read! Ms. Hopkins does a nice job with introducing Monica and Dean (a smart, successful marketing exec and a rodeo bullfighter who's back at the family ranch--for now) and building up their attraction to each other. By the time we got to that point, none of us were ready for their relationship-with-an-expiration-date to be over--fortunately, (spoiler alert!) she's going to manage to pull off a believable HEA for us in the end.

While I appreciated that this book was a quick one (it's a busy week :) and I really enjoyed the characters and writing style (a new-to-me author; I'll definitely read her again!) there could have been more to this book. At one point we skip ahead three weeks, and then later on we jump ahead across even more time. It felt a bit jarring to realize that we'd suddenly lost so much time without a ready explanation for why.

I liked that Monica and Dean were from such different backgrounds, and loved what Dean does to try and bridge the gap; though most of what he does is during time jump #2; I'd also loved to have seen some of what he was doing first hand. I don't know a whole lot about the Sikh religion or community; I do wish that we'd gotten more about it from the book itself (I finally just let my Kindle highlight it and looked it up on Wikipedia that way); for much of the book Monica just makes veiled references to different aspects--and most of those are just in her head.

Still, I really did like this book a lot and will absolutely look for more in this series. Fortunately, Dean's got another brother! ;)

Dean is definitely the epitome of alpha-male. He’s large and likes to be in charge, especially when it comes to exploring Monica – mind, body, and soul. The two have hot chemistry from the start, and it only ignites more as the story continues. The best thing is that sex isn’t the basis for the relationship – well it is at first, but they quickly learn they enjoy talking to each other as well. Monica is from a strict Sikh family, so bringing home a white man is out of the question. The two work hard to conceal their relationship, but the connection is too strong to ignore. The story unfolds rapidly, but the fast pace doesn’t make it any less pleasing. I have to admit, I was crushing on Dean with all his southern charm, and I admired Monica and all her umph. She’s a go-getter and she can play as hard as she works. The chemistry between them was hot enough to shame the sun, but more importantly, they had each other’s backs.

Dean is dedicated to his family and friends, something else the two have in common. The book is not all that long (but, not a novella), but the flow is smooth and the writing is really good.

Readers learn a little something about the other MacKinnon brothers, but their presence doesn’t overshadow the lovers. There’s just enough to hint at the next book in the series. I look forward to reading more.

I've been meaning to read Mia Hopkins for a while now, and simply never got around to it. The smart businesswoman-meets-rugged-cowboy is absolutely my catnip, and every part of the premise of this story appealed to me. Fortunately, my high hopes were well met, with believable characters, solid dialogue, and a strong sense of place.

Even though I'd seen other reviews that mentioned how *hot* this story was, I still found my eyebrows shooting up my forehead. Ms. Hopkins can write sex! After reading countless romances, I'd started skimming the unnecessary sex, needing the plot and characters to add meaning and value to the scenes, and the author does that here. As an important aside, the story is well-written as a whole. Clunky writing or weird descriptions are huge stumbling blocks for me as a reader, and this book was an easy, fun read that helped pass a rainy afternoon.

If I have any criticisms, it's simply that I wanted more. I knew going in that this was a novella, but I still wished we'd seen more of the story. There's a part that suddenly says "the last three months had been great..." and I was like, What? I wanted to SEE those three months. Some stories take up page counts well beyond what they require, but I think Ms. Hopkins has so much more story here and I would have loved to read it.

This was a fairly quick, but very satisfying read. I love cowboy romances, and this one had an intriguing twist to it as it's an inter-racial romance. The heroine is a Sikh-American and there were cultural and religious differences between her family and the hero. It's not something I've really read about in a romance before, and I found it totally fascinating. I guess I thought the cultural differences weren't that big any more, so this really opened my eyes to different religions and cultures.

It's definitely not all about religious and cultural backgrounds though, there is also lots of love, emotion and extremely hot sex! The hero, Dean, is a great character - his cowboy swagger is oh so sexy! I loved Monica too - she's a strong woman who works hard and deeply loves her family. Dean and Monica make a fun couple, they have fabulous chemistry and really belong together.

Cowboy Resurrection is a great book, I really enjoyed it. The storyline is interesting and successfully held my attention from start to finish. I'll be looking out for more books by this author as I really like her style. Cowboy Resurrection receives four out of five stars.

Monica Kaur has come back to her family hometown to save her brothers and parents family business. In doing that she takes three months to plan a huge town company involved to promote a rodeo. To make sure the shindig does off without a hitch she asks for the top ranchers help Dean MacKinnon a professional bullfighter. He’s come home to be with his family while his father fights cancer. Dean and Monica have an instant connection that they don’t jump on right away. Dean doesn’t want to get hurt again and Monica isn’t allowed to marry a white man. The characters’ love and family lives definitely make for its own kind of rodeo.

Monica and Dean are super cute characters. I liked the alternating perspectives so we could get the full story on what goes on for the love story. Which is good we got both perspectives or we would have missed a lot of the story. I didn’t like how short this story was. It seemed like the whole story was rushed from day one of month one to three days from the end of month three. I would have liked more of a progression of Dean and Monica’s feelings for each other. It was disappointing to have that cut so short.

Overall this story was a okay, good enough for how short the story was.

I love cowboy romances and all I can say about this one is YEEHAW!!!!! I loved this and will never look at orange poppies without thinking of these characters. It has an inter-racial part to it and it really adds to the story. Monica is home to help the family and cannot wait to get back to her life away from the constant micro-managing of her life by her family. She plans a rodeo to help the family get back on stable financial legs and needs to enlist the one person who is against the whole idea, Dean MacKinnon. Dean is the hometown legend and is also home due to family obligations but wants to get out of town as soon as he can. When Monica finally is able to arrange a face to face meeting with Dean, although he is caught off guard the chemistry ignites between the two. The rest of the story is romantic, but has enough heat to melt snow and cold hearts! They both share secrets and fears with each other and find that they have a lot in common. But once Monica's family finds out about the romance, they step in to make sure it ends. This story really held my interest and enjoyed it.

I got suckered in by the promise of hot tale of angsty cowboy. There was definitely one of those but Monica and Dean didn't do too much for me. Maybe because there was very little backstory and connection between the two. They seemed to meet when Monica comes home to plan a rodeo in her hometown, and then jump into bed together (too) soon after they meet. It follows a similar pattern to the first book in Hopkins' Cowboy Cocktail series. So there's a lot of sex, all different sorts and all the places you can think of but the romantic intensity is a bit lacking for me since there's little rapport to be built with either character. The issue of interracial relations is a big theme of the book but I found that it was identified and then solved without much conflict. It gave the book a bit of depth but I think it could have been woven in a bit better.

This is the second book in Mia Hopkins "Cowboy Cocktail" series. I like this book just as much as the first one, it had lots of romance, hot sex and conflict. Dean's father is battling cancer and he has taken a break from the Rodeo Circuit to help his family with running ranch. Monica has returned home to help her brother with his business, she has an idea of having a rodeo to raise funds and needs to gather information and help to make it happen. She tries contacting Dean, whose family is big in the Rodeo Circuit for his help but he side steps and ignores her phone calls. This story has just enough hotness to keep you reading to the last page. I look forward to reading the third book of this series. Each book follows one of the MacKinnon men with the others showing up throughout the book.

Cowboy Resurrection was a fantastic story that successfully crossed the boundaries of culture, social status and misconceptions too.

Monica comes from a traditional Sikh family, determined to keep their blood line pure and marry her off to a turban wearing doctor, lawyer or professional; while Dean, the epitome of a sexy Cowboy and bullfighter by trade, is home to support his family as their father's heath declines, and after a brutal divorce wants nothing to do with long term relationships.

But as sparks fly and undeniable lust ignites between these vastly different people, keeping their contact all about business over the coming months, will prove to be impossible.

A great cast, family loyalty and unquenchable desire make Cowboy Resurrection
a truly captivating and engaging read!

I haven't read any of Mia's books until I grabbed the second book of hers. I am sure glad I did. This is a mature read. She has written a story line that will kinda shock you in a good way. Monica works with business but her family is bringing a hotel back in use. It comes with a ranch. Spoiler. She comes home to help them fix this and the town. She meets Dean who is a bull fighter, keeping the bucking bulls from hurting the down riders. Monica and Dean team up and she then is called by her family to drop him. This is where that spoiler comes in. I would recommend this story if you don't mind a bit of graphic in your read. It turned out to be a shorter than I thought but it is a good read. Give this story a chance. Enjoy your reading! I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.
