I just finished this book a few hours ago...and WOW! It's been several hours now, and I'm still sitting here, thinking about Sawyer and Lachlan.
Sawyer uses her sass and bitchiness to mask her insecurities and scars. Her mom is an absent parent and her dad walked out on her years ago. She only has her brother, Owen and her best friend, Sloane, to rely on. She doesn't let people in easily, constantly putting on that "bad-ass" front. That is, until she meets Lachlan, the boy from the rich side of town.
Lachlan seems to have it all: a loving aunt and uncle who took him in, popular friends, and a nice house. But he is no stranger to pain. After his dad lost his wife, he completely checked out on Lachlan. So when Lachlan meets Sawyer, he sees something in her and sees past her facade. He wants to be that one person in her life she can rely and depend on.
"I'm going to prove to her I am one of the nice guys. I could be good for her"
Their relationship isn't always plain sailing. They meet a lot of resistance along the way from Lachlan's friends and family, who think Sawyer is white trash due to her mom being the town whore.
Just when the relationship starts to grow and they start opening up to one another, Sawyer keeps a secret from Lachlan, and a family tragedy will take him away from her for a long time.
Sawyer and Lachlan were a great couple. I really loved Sawyer and my heart broke for her. She never had the greatest life and she didn't come from money. Lachlan was swoon-worthy. I loved the way he fought for her, never really giving her the chance to push him away.
This was a story full of secrets, twists, heartbreak, and angst and they both made big mistakes along the way. It kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire story.
The end left me speechless...
