Wow, that was hot!

description

Violet Chain is another New Adult book that swooned me. The story started when Violet Townsend discovered that her fiance cheated on her. After years of dating, she caught him having a sexual affair with a woman who later on claimed that she was pregnant. After their break-up, she met the hot and devilishly gorgeous businessman playboy Chain Alexander. The sexual tension instantly became apparent and they eventually hooked up. But as their sexual encounters frequented, Violet became confused whether she should trust a guy again and risk her heart or just leave everything purely sexual between her and Chain.

The thing that I actually liked about this book was the author's writing style. J. Kahele's writing made it easy for me to connect with the characters and the story. The book was also a fast and easy read and one with a simple and uncomplicated plot.

As for the main characters, I really, really love Chain Alexander. He's like a dream come true. Noted as a womanizer, he actually has a sweet soul and a tender heart-- which were big points! Unfortunately, I had a difficult time liking Violet. To be honest I really don't mind bratty characters as long as they don't annoy me, but this woman constantly got on my nerves. I understand that she's broken-hearted and she has trust issues but what I don't understand is the way she was so selfish most of all the time, incessantly using Chain as her sexual release but always leaving him hanging in the air right after the sex.

When it comes to whole story though, I find it great. I like the hook-up, friends-with-benefits concept. The sexy scenes are also extra-hot and they definitely give feels! As a whole, it was a well-done NA book. I highly recommend it to readers who fancy smexy and emotional reads! :)

P.S. It has a cliffhanger ending, so the second book is definitely a-must!

From the word go, Violet Chain kept me guessing and guessing and guessing ... in a good way. The plot was unpredictable and the well-thought-out, original characters kept me on an emotional rollercoaster. I started out pulling for one character and somewhere in the middle of the novel, that sentiment shifted, and I found myself evolving with the characters, not an easy feat for an author. J. Kahele uses brilliant imagery and vivid descriptions to put you right inside the pages. This steamy love story is definitely cinematic in its approach and styling.

I really enjoyed the switching point of views from chapter to chapter between Violet Townsend and Chain Alexander, and I love those names. Another strong point in the writing and the story was how Kahele uses minor characters. They’re not just there as window dressing, but actually help to create tension and move the plot forward. The minor characters of David and Callie are also well-developed and could have a wonderful story of their own brewing in the sequel to this flaming tome (can’t wait for it).

This one pulls at your heart strings in so many ways. I liked Violet Chain so much, I decided to get the paperback halfway through as well so I could take it in the tub for some relaxation. TMI? Well, like the description says, “This book is intended for mature audience only.” Well I’m legal, and I highly recommend J. Kahele’s Violet Chain if you are, too.

This will be known as the book I started at 2am that kept me awake until 6am and now has me typing this review with bleary eyes but a big smile on my face. Even more of a compliment to author J. Kahele is that this is not a genre I really read, or even expected to like. I not only liked this book, I liked it a LOT.

This is not a story of a Princess saved by a handsome Knight from the tower. Modern day relationships, even in books, rarely run smoothly and this book showcases that beautifully. The book is so sexy, fun and very easy to warm too.

Before long you will find yourself coming to the end of it, as though emerging from another place. I just found this to be fantastic escapist reading.

After catching her fiancé with another woman at their engagement party, Violet Townsend's world is turned upside down.

Desperate to numb the pain, she falls into the arms of charming, young entrepreneur Chain Alexander.

Chain, a notorious womanizer of Philadelphia, not looking for anything more than a night of pleasure with a woman, is drawn to Violet instantly. There is something about her that he needs and wants so desperately and it’s not just sex.

But Violet is resistant. Can she open her heart again after having it broken so brutally? And more importantly, should she?

Violet is devastated after finding her man with another woman and resorts to curl up in bed and finds nothing to numb the pain...until her two (gorgeous) twin brothers decide to drag her out of bed and out with her best friend and her boyfriend...

Enter Chain, stage left...sexy, intriguing, confident with a beautiful body and face, the man that every woman in town wants to bed down with. Let the chase begin..

The book is really enjoyable as we get to hear from both Violet and Chain in alternating chapters (nicely outlined so you know who you are listening to). It's always fascinating to get inside a character's head as well as be part of their actions and choices. Can Violet resist Chain? Should she?

With some super sexy erotic themes intertwined with an interesting relationship dance this book was just sheer enjoyment. The way Chain is described in the book makes you gather up some nice visual images to take away with you.
Her eyes blinked hard as I flipped her over and slid on top of her.

As our sleek bodies moved feverishly against each other, I held her tight, wanting to remember the smell of her hair, the touch of her skin, the taste of her lips. This was where I wanted to be, this was where I belonged, buried inside of her.

But don't be fooled, this is not just sex in a book, there are some wonderful depths to dive into.
The silent communication in her eyes, the stillness of her body told me she knew I was hurting.

Her hand cupped the nape of my neck. “It’s okay, I’m here—I’m here,” she whispered as she kissed each tear on my cheek.

She slanted her mouth to capture mine and kissed me slowly as her hand curled around my body, pulling me against hers. I drew a breath and held it as her lips caressed my neck.

I was falling.

Deeply.

Unconditionally.

In love with her.

I enjoyed the story of Chain and Violet a lot, both characters I found really easy to relate to, I have to say I felt Chain was a very well written character, so much more to him than first meets the eye in this book. Many of my review followers will know this is not my usual genre but I am delighted to say I have no doubt I will be tasting more of the brilliant work of J. Kahele, she already has a popular fan crowd, I might just hop on in there too.

Fans of adult contemporary romance with a nice sprinkle of passionate, sexy scenes will love this book. For me, 4 stars for Violet Chain, a book I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.

As for the ending? Well, I am simply not telling. You will have to meet Violet and Chain yourself to find out how their story ends. What is fantastic is that this is book one in a series, I would be reading more in this great series for sure.

Can you imagine walking in on your fiancé and another woman in a “compromising” position at YOUR ENGAGEMENT PARTY? Seriously, how would Violet dull this soul searing pain? It would seem she found just what the sex doctor ordered, a hot, blistering night with one of the most eligible and flaming-hot, mega-rich entrepreneurs ever, Chain Alexander. Even his name is hot and his reputation as a womanizer made him safe for a one night fling and they rocked each other’s worlds. Think molten hot rocks.

No strings attached, no emotions, easy, right? (As if that ever works.) Violet’s free-spirited attitude brings Chain to his knees with a startling revelation; he may be falling in love.

Unfortunately, Violet is not onboard with any emotional attachments and only shows up to use his body just like he used women’s bodies. Ahh, not so much fun, now, hey big boy? Can Chain break down her walls and melt her frozen heart or will her past return to steal her away?
Violet is weakening, but her overly protective and slightly Neanderthal brothers just may have something to say about it and they talk with their fists. Only a terrible tragedy could make her see what Chain means to her, but is it too late?

Pass the smelling salts! J. Kahele’s eyeball scorching, Violet Chain is here and hot enough to melt an iceberg in winter. Definitely not for those who blush easily or are not comfortable with raging sex between virtual strangers, the romance will shine through as she carefully crafts a tale of love with her earthy scenes and down to earth characters. Sure there is darkness and a chance for a knight in shining armor to save the day; just not sure the damsel in distress can admit how wonderful the true Chain is. You’ll sigh, fan yourself, and chuckle a time or two when the brothers are on the scene! If this is only the start to a series, I’m thinking readers are in for a heat wave of great reading that is fun, to boot!

Nooooo! Okay, so the title is Violet Chain #1, which should mean a sequel is coming, but I sure wasn't expecting the various turns of events to turn THIS direction. But if you like smexy (smart & sexy) contemporary romance, you can enjoy this and then wait for more with the rest of us.

Gorgeous Violet, who has been the loyal fiancée of an unimpressive fellow (why? we wonder), finds him at their engagement party being pleasured by some bimbo. Good-bye Charlie (Harrison, actually). Violet certainly says so, but Harrison has other ideas.

She works for her dad and has twin brothers, a pair of rakes, who are protective of their little sister. Through her best friend Callie's fiancé, Violet meets Chain, a handsome ne'er-do-well, although actually he does do very well, thank you, both in business and with the ladies.

She is strongly attracted to him, as are all the ladies, but she knows his reputation and figures, what the heck – a bit of spicy fun in the hay is just what she needs to distract her, and that's where it's going to stop. She's determined that's where it's going to stop. Yes she is. Of course, she is.

Chain pursues her likewise - good fun, that's all. They have to hide their forbidden fling from family and friends, but not from us. Plenty of well-written juicy bits, and it's interesting watching their relationship work backwards - from sex as strangers to a kind of shy, nervous friendship.

There are disruptions from former and would-be lovers, plus some serious hospital bedside drama, and then the last page finds us at the edge of a mysterious plot cliff, looking for more, please, Ms Kahele, and don't dawdle!

Many thanks to the author and Booklady Catlover Publicity (https://www.facebook.com/BookloverCat... for the review copy of this entertaining read - but be sure to hurry up with the next one!

Copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Ms. J. Kahele!

I really like Violet Chain. It's a sexy, romantic and guilty pleasure read. The writing style is great and the protagonists have an intense, palpable chemistry. I think Violet Townsend and Chain Alexander are likable characters.

Violet is a classy woman with a sense of independence despite growing up from a wealthy family. Her father taught her to be a responsible, hard working lady and not to take advantage of their fortune. With such discipline, no wonder she achieved great things. Having an unfortunate long-term relationship with a man who cheated her on their engagement made her vulnerable. She finds it hard to move on and trust another man. As for Chain, he's unaffected with the fact he is a playboy. Actually, he is a gentleman. Yeah they have this no-strings-attached kind of relationship. Still, I'm in awed of the way he pursues Violet and prove that he wants more than having a sexual relationship. He will do everything to get her trust and open up her feelings.

I also enjoyed the bond between Violet and her twin brothers, Vince and Victor. I love how protective and concern they are to their little sister. Can I have them as brothers? It's so adorable. I want to see more moments with them.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and the ending is such a cliffhanger. I'm looking forward to what happens next. Thank you also to sis Pearl for recommending this book to me. [check her fab review by clicking her name. :) ]

I love a book that I can get lost in, one that draws me in to the world of the characters, and Violet Chain did that for me. J Kahele gives us real reactions of a woman who has been betrayed by the man she loves. We see her struggles and her determination as she works through her feelings. I loved her spirit---she is a strong woman who is finding herself. And Chain...well, he is just too hot! This story is told from both his and Violet's point of view, their perspectives woven perfectly together. I couldn't put it down and I'm desperate to find out what happens next.

Violet is having a terrific time at her engagement party ... until she finds her brand new fiancee in a very compromising situation with another woman.

Even though her now ex-fiancee begs for another chance, Violet sticks to her guns. There is nothing without trust and she doesn't trust him any farther than she can throw him. Harrison works for her father so it's hard to totally ignore him.

Chance is tall, handsome, and funny. According to her best friend's boyfriend, Chance is also a player. And Violet decides that sex without strings is something she would like to try ... at least with this exciting specimen of a man.

And so begins the dance .... Chance wants more than just a sexual relationship, Violet doesn't trust him not to hurt her. So who will win the battle?

Although this is not my usual choice of reading material, every once in a while I do enjoy a little spice. This one has a lot of spice, and it is very well done. There is much more to this book than sex. It's about relationships.. the ups and downs....the heartaches, heartbreaks, sadness, sometimes anger and frustration.

The one thing that kept this lower on my rating scale is that the story comes to such an abrupt ending at such a crucial part in the story. I am not fond of cliffhangers in the first place, but there is absolutely no warning ... and nothing to even suggest there may be a second book to follow.

My thanks to the author and to Booklover Catlady Publicity for furnishing a digital copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Easily one of my favourite authors, J Kahele once again gives us a strongly narrated adult romance, but with a heart.

The opening scenes in the book show Violet being viciously and brutally dumped for a fleeting moment of sexual gratification by her ex-fiance Harrison.

He's an idiot, pure and simple. At this point in the story we don't know that much about Violet, but as the tale progresses it is clear that H made a mistake. Unfortunately for him, there is to be no second chance, as Violet becomes the focus of Chain, our main male of the piece.

There's also a wonderful scene featuring Violet's brothers, Vince and Victor - despite having the same initial which one might think leads to some confusion, it doesn't. I loved it, and it gave the book some light comedic relief.

It's fair to say that apart from Archie in Miss Kahele's Crazy on You, her male characters tend to be super rich, super good looking....something I can't relate to all that well! But Chain, for all his apparent good fortune, seems to be her best characterised male to date, and I for one am pleased to see this progression from the author.

The story it told from Violet's perspective, but also Chain's. This is something I am noticing in a lot of stories of late. If they are all as well written as this one, I won't be complaining.

Violet Chain works because the story - a broken heart, finds one to mend it. But this is the tale at its most basic level. It is much more than that, and ends strongly that will have you screaming for more.

Whilst fans of Miss Kahele await a possible third installment of the Mine series, this will do very nicely indeed!

Violet Chain is a powerful book. The main female character, Violet, is heartbroken at the beginning of the book. Betrayed by her boyfriend of 4 yr, she has trust issue and an overbearing handful of men around her: father & twin brothers that I wanted to slap for not minding their own business although I did have a soft spot of manwhore Vince...but Victor was definitely super annoying and needed to be kicked at times.
Anyway, she meets another manwhore who is friend of her best friend's boyfriend. Funny how sometimes you wonder who is using who, after all. Thankfully Chain turned out to be full of surprises (good ones), despite some hidden secrets.
A good read with relatable characters (I have an Italian father, so I know what I'm talking about!), a powerful storyline and some steamy scenes. I couldn't put it down and one-clicked Book 2, Hidden Truths as soon as I finished Book 1... I needed to know what happened because that cliffhanger left me gawking. Go for it!

What do you do when your fiancé cheats on you????
Get another man!!!! So, Violet is faced with a heartbreaking challenge: she catches her fiancé cheating on her at their engagement party, at her parents' house no less!!! Understandably devastated, Violet coincidentally meets Chain, someone she decides to have a rebound romp with, but ends up getting more than she bargained for! Many women can relate to Violet's cheating boyfriend situation, but wish there were more "Chains" to go around to get over it! I enjoyed this lighthearted story, from the initial meet up of our main characters, until the cliff hanger ending. I do hope in the subsequent book or books that we will find out more about Chain's relationship with his father as well as learn more about the infamous twins Vince and Victor. I loved how their characters enhanced the story and did not detract from it. I also liked Callie and David, OCD characteristics and all! Even though the storyline is a familiar one, it was an enjoyable and spicy read that was appealing to it's reader. I know I will look at balconies a little differently from now on! Thanks to booklover catlady publicity for this book for review!

J Kahele has done it again! This was an outstanding read and I enjoyed every bit of it. From the beginning, I was hooked by the believable characters. I instantly felt drawn to Violet and I was thoroughly gripped by the time the character Chain was introduced. The supporting characters were also believable. The hidden passions were cleverly woven in and I really felt captivated by their emotional and sensual discoveries.
The scenes are emotionally charged and they come across as very real, very raw and in parts I felt very sympathetic to them. It was also very fast paced, and I felt compelled to carry on reading, as I felt that I just ‘had to know’. This story combines, romance, emotional anguish, and suspense, cleverly written with true to life character depictions. It was also full of imagery, more than just from the characters. The places were described in infinite detail. So much so that I could imagine myself there. The seductive suspense and build up was very rich real and intriguing.

For me, the best part was being able to explore real life issues through the perspective of both male and female characters. I anxiously wait for more stories from this Author.

Violet Chain (Violet Chain #1) by J. Kahele
This book was well written it had a lot of steamy sex, with cheating and some abuse it also ends in a cliff hanger.

I love a book that I can get lost in, from the first page until the end. A book that draws me in to the world of the characters, and Violet Chain did that to me. Ms. Kahele is a wonderful writer and I can’t wait to see what she has instore for us.

Violet caught her ex having a sex with a woman at their engagement party and walked out and Ms. Kahele shows us the reactions of a woman who has been betrayed by the man she loves the one she was supposed to spend the rest of her life with.

After their break-up, Violet meet’s the hot and devilishly gorgeous businessman playboy Chain Alexander who happens to be her best friend Callie’s boyfriend’s best friend.

The sexual tension between these two is instant and become apparent and they eventually hooked up. But as their sexual encounters become more frequent, Violet becomes confused whether she should trust a guy again and risk her heart or just leave everything purely sexual between her and Chain.

I liked watching their relationship work backwards from sex as strangers to a kind of shy, nervous friendship to being a couple.

Violet is extremely attracted to Chain, but so are a lot of other ladies. She Also knows about his reputation and figures, what the heck let’s have a little fun which is just what she needs to distract her, and that's where it's going to stop or so she thinks.

Chain Alexander is like a dream come true he has a sweet soul and a tender heart even with everything he has been through. Chain pursues violet at first for fun, that's all until he falls hard.
I loved reading this book.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

First of all, I think the book was pretty fun and cool, the author made a good job when writing it.

The characters were well developed and you really can associate with them well, most of the things happening in the book are thing you can relate to and that's nice.

I liked that the protagonist isn't the typical alpha male she used on their other books, but a sweet and caring guy with problems of his own, that just fell for the right girl.

Violet is a strong female lead I like that, it feel empowering having one like her that is so independent and strong in some many ways, I think a lot of us females will cheer for her and find her determination inspiring.

Chain is a good guy, caring and loving, I instantly liked him since he is like my boyfriend in that regard and I think a lot of us will feel cool with him for that, all females will love him a lot. He is a romantic guy something we usually want and the way he protects Violet will make your heart melt.

David and Vince were good supporting characters too I really like them, I'm hoping Vince get his happy ever after later on in the series, David have Callie another strong but caring girl, you will like them a lot by the end.

They were so well written steamy sex scenes and the scenarios were so interesting too, I think this book is made for our hopeless romantics that are looking for more than just humping, it's a book with emotions and fun that you will find a truly page turner and a cliffhanger at the end. I promise you by the end you will be craving more of this story.

My thanks to the author and to Booklover Catlady Publicity for furnishing a digital copy in exchange for an honest review!

Violet finds herself on the wrong end of an affair when she finds her fiance with his pants down during their engagement party. This leads to a total breakdown and rebuilding of a whole person. Violet realizes she lost herself to the relationship and didn’t even have a personality that didn’t involve being half of a couple. She picks herself up with the help of her brothers and goes out on the town. She finds herself in the arms of a notorious playboy, Chain.
Chain is the playboy that will never settle for one until he meets Violet, the one that wants to use and abuse him then let him go. It’s the cat and mouse chase in reverse. The entire novel is the struggle to get her to understand what they could be.
There were plenty of come and get me hot steamy sexy scenes making you stop and pant and wish you were Violet, but the ending was a complete turn-off! I was finally getting used to the idea of maybe having a little substance in the book when the dialogue becomes forced as if the author realizes there needs to be an ending soon. Then the ending comes with a complete drop-off. There is nothing to suggest there will be a sequel. It just ends on a very negative note. There are ways to end on a cliffhanger leaving the reader wanting more, but I have trouble with leaving us on a sour negative note.

People lie and manipulate, I simply don't know how I would react if I found my fiancé with another person at our engagement party!!! But things change for Violet when Chain comes into her life. The dual narrative tells the story from the alternating POVs of Violet and Chain. I'm not going to go into much detail, as I don't want to ruin anything. I will just say: within the first few pages of Chain being introduced, you'll develop a certain feeling towards him. The characters might seem stereotypical and one-dimensional to begin with, but as the story progresses we begin to see just how complex they really are. Absolutely delightful, well written, sensual, and characters you won’t forget. Janelle Kahele’s Violet Chain is a book not to be missed.

I am really not sure about this book. A predictable romantic tale with few surprises- I was waiting for the twist which didn't happen.
The male lead (Chain) comes across as arrogant, self -centred and out as ever, to get what he wants. Spoilt man-child. Although self- made he thinks he can get what and whom he chooses. Violet is a far more realistic character. As the story goes on (a bit thin in my estimation) he does get slightly better and she gets even stronger. The ending, well isn’t- it’s the start of another book. As you can tell this is not my kind of book, a disappointing read.

The story starts by Violet walking in on her fiancé cheating on her at their engagement party at her parents’ home. Violet was young when they met and she has based her entire world around Harrington, for the past 4 years, so this violation of her trust rocks her to the core. After spending a couple of days huddled in her bedroom, her twin brothers Vince and Victor decides enough is enough and gets her moving. Then best friend Callie and her boyfriend David appears to get her out of the house.
This outing has Violet meeting the dazzling Chain Alexander, the man who tongue ties every women that he met and is used to getting what he wants. Chain is instantly taken with Violet but David begs him to leave her alone. David knows that Harrington has done a number on her and that Chain is known for one night hook ups. As things would go Violet is also taken with Chain but given that she has just had her heart stomped on she has no desire to get into another strings attached relationship. So Violet devises a plan to enjoy a little of the wild side that she couldn’t for the past four years and get her fix of Chain.
This begins the push and pull of their relationship, the uncertainty that comes with every new relationship regardless of the intent of the relationship. It’s hot and cold and burning the edges all at the same time. Kahele does a fabulous job of making the characters come to life and you truly feel for what Violet has been through and the complete change in Chain for having found a woman that he wants in his life for more than just sex.
I finished this book in one day, I was captivated by the story and really didn’t remember chapter breaks or turning pages. This is a definitely recommend to all my friends. My one criticism is the ending, I hate cliff hangers and if book 2 had already been published I probably wouldn’t have minded so much because I would have just grabbed book 2. But with that not being an option yet….frustration, that’s the only word I can use.

Full review now available on my blog: http://www.thewritinggreyhound.co.uk/...

The characters were the best part about the book, hands down. Both main characters were realistic, and I liked that they fluctuated between being likeable and just plain irritating. That gave them a real human edge, especially when added to their flaws and vulnerabilities. I also liked that Violet kept changing her mind. It's most common in romance for the heroine to fall hopelessly in love with the hero right from page one, then she spends the rest of the book trying to get him. However, the roles are reversed in Violet Chain because it's the guy who falls hopelessly in love with the girl. I found that an intriguing and different twist on the genre.

The plot wasn't the best I've read. Sure, it was moderately engaging and it kept on at a good pace throughout, but it didn't have that spark that really hooks you into the story. It kept on at a steadily humdrum pace until we started to get towards the end. Then, oddly, everything seemed to happen at once. All of a sudden Violet was in jail, David was in hospital, and everyone knew the two were a couple. But we didn't really get a chance to address these plot points or really react to them, because almost as soon as they cropped up they were instantly dealt with and filed away again, which was a bit odd.

However, the biggest catch for me was the end. I'm not going to spoil it for you, but seriously - that is one heck of a cliffhanger ending! Unfortunately though, it didn't feel like an ending, and I was left feeling dissatisfied and wondering where the remainder of the book had run off to. So if you do choose to read Violet Chain, beware of the ending. I feel like I need to read the sequel just to find out the conclusion of this book, but the bad news is that there's no news on the sequel as of yet.

I received this book from Maxine Booklover catlady Publicity, in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book, brilliant story line, loveable characters, Chain is amazing and definitely on my list of hunky book boyfriends.! Violet I found so frustrating, but I did still like her character.

Violet and Harrison we're at their engagement party when Violet walks into the room to find Harrison cheating with a 20 something Red Head.
Violets world has crashed around her, she is devastated.! Chain is a hot sexy ladies man, who just happens to be rich as hell as well, yes he is the whole package, Good looks - some serious Junk plus all the money he could need.

Chain is introduced to violet through their mutual friends David & Callie, Chain definitely has an immediate attraction, which is quite normal for a ladies man, but his feelings run a hell of a lot deeper quite quickly.! but does Violet reciprocate..? she has major commitment issues since what happened with Harrison, so can she commit or is she just going to use chain to full-fill her sexual needs...

This is a fast paced page turner that has you turning those pages all to quickly. I am now left dyeing to know what is going to happen in book#2 as what a cliff hanger.............

This book is really well written I adore J. Kahele's writing style, it has you smiling and laughing all the way through.

Spoiler Allert...!!!

We locked eyes instantly and I was drawn into his intense gaze.
I watched as David waved his hands in front of Chain's eyes. "Earth to Chain." But Chain ignored him and walked over to me.
"You're Fucking Gorgeous," he stated.

This is such a good book and I 100% recommend it...!

Violet Chain is a skillfully-written love story with fire. The first thing that caught my attention about Janelle Kahele’s Violet Chain was the title, which I figured out by the second chapter. I feel like everything is a spoiler, so you’ll have to read it to find out why. I’m not often a fan of first-person narrative, especially multiple point of views, but Kahele proves when you wield this literary technique with precision it can enhance an already great story, which is what Violet Chain is. Kahele uses this technique masterfully to create tension between well-developed characters and craft suspense in the mind of the reader.

But Kahele doesn’t stop there; she ups the ante strategically throughout and provides just the right plot twists and turns to keep the reader turning pages, as a skilled writer should, never boring us with clichés or predictability. Be ready to be dazzled toward the end. Kahele creates characters that are flawed and believable, so much so that sometimes we love and sometimes we hate ‘em, but most of all we root for them and enjoy them as they change and evolve over the course of the story. Kahele uses inner-dialogue to give us the heart and minds of our protagonists and shows rather than tells us about minor characters and their quirks (OCD). Kahele’s descriptions are many and vivid and often make you feel as if you’re reading the novelization of a film. When it’s all said and done, this is a pure and simple, but powerful, tug-at-your-heart-strings love story, and highly recommended.

5 stars!! This was such a fantastically wonderful book!! I devoured it in one sitting!! Can’t wait to see where this series is going to go.

This book is intended for mature audiences only!

Violet caught her fiance’ cheating on her with another woman during her engagement party. Feeling lost and sad she isn’t quite sure how to move on. That is until Chain shows up. Chain is known all over Philly as a womanizer and love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy. But when he meets Violet he realizes there’s something about her that he’s not willing to let her go! Violet is hesitant to let anyone close to her heart again. Wow what a great book, I loved it from beginning to end!!

Violet Townsend has everything, a great job, a loving boyfriend, and a wonderful family. This comes to a shattering end in the opening scenes when Violet's newly appointed fiancé is found to be less than faithful, at their own engagement party. Violet is not one to be kept down and meets the hot, sexy, womanizing Chain Alexander.

A switch is flipped in Violet and she begins to come out of the thick she'll she constructed around herself the last 4 years she was with her cheating ex Harrison. The problem is that Violet isn't sure she wants to be this adventurous or start something new. Chain Alexander sees something he really likes in Violet and wants to see where their relationship can go, but Violet doesn't want to take their relationship public. Despite his best efforts, Chain can't get a commitment from Violet.

Once tragedy strikes close to home, these two finally see what has been right in front of them all along. The crazy cliffhanger at the end left me saying Nooo!!! I need the next book!!

All of the charachters were great. The dynamic between Violet and her brothers was spot on with siblings. Callie and David's relationship was lovely and numerous. Chain and David.s friendship was heartwarming. A great read over all. Highly recommended

I am giving this book a five stars because it was an entertaining read and I had trouble putting the book down. REAL trouble putting it down! I would have read it in one day were it not for life interfering, as always! When I read, I sometimes just want to have a good time and this book gave me that.
I liked that, for once, the female character was the one unwilling to date. That was different and refreshing.
There was one aspect of the book I had trouble with, which was the slut-shaming, something I always criticize heavily. So, I decided to message the author directly, to get her personal opinion on that, and it turned out that it had not been her intention at all. It is sometimes difficult for authors to realize that they might be sending a message other than the one they had intended.
Overall, this was a fun read. I am always inspired by Indie authors who manage to provide a book free of typos and mistakes. It is a hard thing to do, so I always give kudos for that. : )

In J Kahele's latest novel, she doesn't disappoint. What I enjoyed most about this novel is the heart that was put into developing the characters. Violet was wounded after witnessing her fiance(ex-fiance) Harrison cheating on her. It captures the true human emotion of how anyone would react to such a stress. Violet was hurt and wallowed in her sorrow a bit, then she was tired of being the "nice girl" and rebelled a little bit. She was hesitant with sharing her heart again, and all of those emotions lead up to a strong story. Chain's character shows that people can change when first, they want to and second, when there's a good reason to. I highly recommend this novel to readers who are looking for a well developed romance. This novel will draw you in and make you want to see what happens next. FIVE STARS!!!

Violet was in a very bad place when she first met Chain and he made her forget some of the pain. She was surprised by that. Harrison kept popping back up making her uncomfortable. It also made Chain uncomfortable. This was a great book about love and sex and sex and love and it was wonderful. Friends and how tricky it is to be open and honest about things in the past. A great read that I will be reading again. Loved it!
