Wow. PIE books did a beautiful job, but Jean himself handled the design. Like 'Rebus' and 'Fables: The Covers' this is eye-candy so sweet it'll rot your optic nerve. That doesn't sound like a good thing, but it actually is. Crammed full of art, this features much of the work that appeared in 'Rebus', as well as the 'Memu' card-box, 'Kindling' portfolio, and the accordion-format 'Rift', reproduced as a 16-page gate-fold, along with the epic 'wallpaper' done for Prada.
AND an entire book's worth of art not yet collected. Almost 300 separate works in a 300 page art-book; there's no wasted space in 'Pareidolia'. It's hard to pick favorites with Jean, given the variety of styles and media at his disposal, but recently he's been creating ink on paper line drawings, done without planning or reference, that further demonstrate the powerful imagination behind the technical brilliance.
The dust-jacket, like the dust-jacket Jean designed for 'Fables: The Covers', is double-sided; but this one unfolds to reveal two poster-sized images, roughly 2' x 3'; the interior is one of his Neo-Surrealist drawings, identical to the image below, but without the grid: The front-side cover image, when unfolded:
More on it later. Until then:

Anyone who has any interest in illustration should look this guy up - I can't get over how vibrant and detailed his artwork is. The colours are incredible, and his line art is just??? Mind blowing in detail. Beautiful.
The skill is extraordinary but there were only a handful of pieces that spoke to me. I think after a point the level of detail overwhelmed my ability to parse meaning.
