Two years after restoring order in his home town, Ben Stillman returns from a stint with the Pinkertons to find a group of cowboys have taken over the town and gunned down and innocent man. Original.

Well Ben and Fay Stillman are on their way to Clantick, Montana, where he will take the office of Sheriff. Ben was sent for by Jody Harmon, who was a friend and he'd help town two years ago with another problem they had with Fay's father. This adventure truly as a lot of open roads that don't seem to go anywhere. Such as whose murdering the saloon girls, and the two previous Sheriff's. One of the Sheriffs was found in a jail cell tied down with his throat cut, and the other was found hanging from a tree in a ravine about two miles from town. Ben and his Deputy Leon, whose Black, so you know that bit of information went over big in the town. Those two have their hands full. So everyone we have a great plot, intrigue, possible serial killer, a bully rancher whose ranch hands are a bunch of saddle tramps with attitudes and are killers. Then on top of all this you would think things would start cooling off...nope it isn't that easy. Someone is gunning for Ben because he ended a train holdup, which resulted in three dead ninnies who thought they would rob and get away, didn't go as they thought so now the two left over robbers are trying to ambush our friend Sheriff Ben Stillman. As the song goes "Don't Mess with Ben," just a thought, because Ben Stillman is nobody's punk. He didn't just get off the stagecoach yesterday, the man is a western warrior, justice and mind your p's and q's, that's all he and his Deputy Leon expect from everyone who visit and live in Clantick, Montana and it's surrounding areas. Adios Amigos
This is becoming one of the very best series available today. I have been impressed with the ongoing antics of now Sheriff Ben Stillman, as he always seems justice personified, and does it with class!
This story as the previous three, is definitely worthy of five stars and more. Mr. Brandvoid does an excellent job in his presentation of each and every exciting achievement of his character selections from beginning to end. There is never a lull in the excitement, as I was mesmerized by the authenticity of his descriptive storylines. There is enough suspenseful episodes to maintain any reader's undivided attention throughout the ongoing investigative techniques of Sheriff Stillman and his associates, including his wife. Gunfights abound throughout the exciting story and the entire cast fulfills any reader's undivided attention from beginning to end. There is never a dull moment from beginning to end. Definitely recommend this compassionate and entertaining book, and all other stories in the Stillman series, to everyone but especially to you lovers of real western adventures with never ending exciting old western justice. Definitely another winner by an outstanding author of American western folklore adventures!
Peter Brandvold he's one of the great new writers of hard hitting western action and his second novel Once More With a .44 is a solid example of it. The story is told with crisp writing and good pacing. Brandvold novels are akin (in spirit) to the Piccadilly Cowboys books, violent action and harsh depiction of the old west, but with a little bit more meat on the bone. The book length (almost double most Piccadily's outing) allows for more character development and more detailed oriented storytelling. I really like Sheriff Stillman and the ensemble cast around him, hopefully Peter Brandvold will continue to make his adventure action packed and well written.
Once More With a .44 (A Sheriff Ben Stillman Western)
Jody Harman saw that their town was getting too wild to be safe anymore, so he did the only thing that he could think of to do, he wrote a letter to ex U.S MARSHAL Ben Stil!man. What use to be a small town , now had swelled not only with business but also with saloons and brothels. Cowboys who believed that the law did not apply to them. This was a really good read with a page turning rhythm that kept you on the edge of your seat til the last page. BRAVO 👏👏
Book 2 in the Marshall Stillman Series. it’s two years later and Jody and Crystal are married. Clantick is what my grandfather would have referred to as the Wild Woolly West. The Robber Baron may be dead along with the corrupt sheriff and mayor but without firm leadership the town is a lawless place. Jody has sent for Stillman to restore order. The coupling is almost chaste and profanity absent but the violence and gunplay are graphic.
Knowing that there are a dozen more books in the series takes some of the suspence out of our hero’s escapades.
PB. has. penned a Ben Stillman Western, which shows him returning to Montana with his wife to the town they had left a few years before. When reroute the train they were on was robbed and he stopped the robbery. He accepts the job as Sheriff and sends for a Deputy. After the arrival of the couple in town they discover what they are up against and the list is long. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
A Spell-Binding, Heart-Warning Western! Brandvold has a most enjoyable talent of creating vivid characters and scenes that keep readers glued to the pages, anxious to turn to the next to experience early western life! This easy reading story's only negative is that it eventually ends. Can't wait to read the next installment.

I was furnished this book free in return for a honest review . This is the second book in this series, I though the first book was better, but still gave this one five stars. I enjoyed reading the book and believe you will also.
Great book. I have been reading the series and can't wait for the next book to be released. Very good story line and great writing. I highly recommend this book.
Not sure why this series was reordered with this release as this novel is obviously book #2 while and the previous book is #3. In any case the Ben Stillman series has a great cast of characters and I plan to read every one.
Sheriff Ben Stillman is back in Clantick. Summoned by his friend, Jody, it has become a center for vice. The last two Sheriff's were murdered. One the train headed back to town, Ben thwarts a robbery, and it turned quite deadly. The survivors had to go back and face their paw, who is meaner than a grizzly bear. They set out to kill Stillman and even with a bullet in his back, that is no easy task. This is a separate plot from the main story. In town, a rich rancher is running rough shod over everybody and pretty much owns the town and the law in it. Ben wastes no time getting on his bad side. Prostitutes are being murdered, so between the train robbers, the crooked rancher and that, the sheriff has plenty on his plate. He telegrams Leon to come and join in the fun. The murderer if the sheriffs comes as a complete surprise.
I found the book a good read. I did not find the book as good as the first in the series but it was enjoyable. The plot was thin and some of the characters never took shape. I will continue with the series.I
Once More With a 44 is book two in the series by Peter Brandvoid. It's action filled. Some mystery and a little romance. Enjoyable read that keeps reading
Sheriff Ben Stillman, returns to Clintick; to clean out the town, two years later. Another good storyline, with Sheriff Stillman. Will recommend to family and friends.
I enjoyed reading this book! I'm a big fan of Peter Brand old but this book has to be one of the best ones I've read. It was interesting from start to finish and hard to put down.
Read cowboys who like women , know how to use their guns to shoot the bad guys and don’t act like they need a box of boo hoo tissues and sensitivity training.
Puts the WILD in Wild West. Great reads Fast paced but thorough. A lot of things happening at once, but the story is easy to follow. I think I'm gonna enjoy this series.
