Healing in an Interconnected World―Insights from a Leading Medical Intuitive
Technology and culture have dramatically changed our world―yet we don’t realize how these external forces have triggered equally profound changes in our personal health. "Today we face health challenges our forbearers never had to deal with," teaches Caroline Myss. "Psychologically, energetically, and even chemically, we are radically different―and we need a different approach to our own well-being." With The Anatomy of Your Health, this pioneering teacher presents a bold vision of wellness that empowers us to thrive in the modern age.
Key Insights for Navigating the New Era of Human Development
When we developed weapons capable of ending our species, humanity made a choice―to survive. As Caroline explains, we each took part in a collective decision to become more connected to each other than ever before, which has led to far-reaching and unforeseen consequences for our welfare. In these six audio sessions, Caroline illuminates the dynamics of power, victimhood, and self-esteem that have emerged in every new generation―and reveals how you have the capacity to heal, grow, and tap into divine guidance.
Though we face more uncertainty and complexity than ever before, we also have greater freedom to take charge of our health and transform our lives. "It is a privilege to live in this moment," Caroline says. "You have more power than you realize to make a difference to yourself and those around you. You have the overwhelming potential to become a gift to this world."

Caroline Myss was born on December 2, 1952 in Chicago, and grew up with her parents, and two brothers, one elder and one younger, in the Melrose Park, Illinois neighbourhood near Chicago. Caroline was raised a Catholic, and attended the Mother Guerin High School, River Grove, Illinois, run by the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana in 1974, and started her career in journalism in Chicago.
In the course of her career, she interviewed Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, M.D., the author of the famous book, On Death and Dying, which inspired her to pursue a Master's degree in theology from Mundelein College, Chicago, which she completed in 1979. She also claims to hold a Ph.D in "intuition and energy medicine", but the degree was granted by Greenwich University, a now-defunct correspondence school that was never accredited to deliver higher education awards by any recognized government accreditation authority.
She started giving medical intuitive readings in 1982 and co-founded a small New Age publishing company, Stillpoint Publishing in Walpole, New Hampshire, where she also worked as an editor in 1983, next she began consulting with holistic doctors, which in 1984, led to her extensive collaboration with Dr. Norman Shealy, an M.D. schooled at Harvard, and the founder of the American Holistic Medical Association, with whom she later co-authored, "Aids: Passageway to Transformation," in 1987, followed by "The Creation of Health: The Emotional, Psychological, and Spiritual Responses that Promote Health and Healing," in 1988. Deriving from her practice as a medical intuitive, she started writing books, in the field of energy medicine, and healing, all of which became New York Times Best Sellers.[18] Starting with Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing (1996), which overlapped seven Christian sacraments with seven Hindu chakras and the Kabbalah's Tree of Life to create a map of the human "energy anatomy"; this was followed by Why People Don't Heal and How They Can (1998), which explored the reasons people do not heal through her concept of "woundology." Her next book, Sacred Contracts: Awakening Your Divine Potential (2002) dealt with the issue of finding "Life Purpose," while describing Sacred Contracts as "a set of assignments that our soul had formed around before incarnation". She has since appeared on the The Oprah Winfrey Show numerous times.
By 2000, she discontinued doing private medical intuitive readings, and instead started teaching it, through her workshops, seminars, radio shows and guided tours. She tours internationally as a speaker on spirituality and mysticism, and lives in Oak Park, Illinois, near Chicago. In 2003, she started the Caroline Myss Educational Institute, with Wisdom University in San Francisco.
Her 2007 book, "Entering the Castle" draws upon the writings of Saint Teresa of Ávila, a 16th century Carmelite nun, who wrote her most important work, The Interior Castle, towards the end of her life.
No one can grab you by the proverbial ears and wrench you around a bit to wake you up to your issues and you thank her for it like Carolyn Myss. This is a ten star experience. I agree with everything. It opened my eyes to where I need to work on my own life. It’s empowering too. Great, great work! Loved this!
The benefit of reading (and listening to) a lot of books is that I can take a risk and try something out of my comfort zone. I am not religious or even spiritual, but I do believe in the power of metaphors. If religion is a kind of metaphor that works for someone, who am I to judge that.
But talking about judging... This book is conservative garbage. Blaming all sorts of illnesses on what kind of person someone is. And even then, the type of persons she described could be anyone, like a zodiac sign. If you want too much control in life, that's a recipe for rheuma (who likes the feeling of being out of control?). Breast cancer and prostate cancer are caused by the fact we don't know the balance between 'masculinity' and 'feminity'? I am generalising because she emphasizes that there never is one reason for an illness.
But especially the judgmental tone she has throughout the lectures rubbed me te wrong way. I kept thinking: "OK boomer!"
So not for me, and I hope the people who read/listened to this and found meaning in it, try to keep an open mind.
I'm careful to weigh in on the works of the modern day mystic, Caroline Myss. Her books always share the Truth while dismissing smaller, trifling truths which is my only problem with her work . Can both exist together? In fact, they must. Michelangelo, one of the greatest artists/architects of all time is quoted as saying "trifles make perfection and perfection is no trifle". I inject Michelangelo into this review to make this point but also because his work and hers are centered in architecture ; his in outer space and hers, inner space. Michelangelo was wise not to take anything for granted and this is my issue with Myss. At times, with a somewhat condescending tone, she tears down structures that may be relevant to the building .
For example, she speaks about how the "new normal" in which we live has "replaced" conscience with consciousness . She then goes on about how consciousness is 1)a word that has absolutely no meaning, 2)devoid of significance & 3)a frivolous hobby of this new normal age. But, wait a minute...can't conscience & consciousness coexist within a person? I would hope so...in fact, if we desire to grow closer to perfection, more awareness (consciousness) must be united with a healthy conscience. It isn't necessary & would probably be harmful to remove the beam of consciousness from the structure of modern man/woman. While making the point that a new level of awareness has emerged, Myss kills off good ol conscience. Fortunately there are young people exhibiting an interesting mix of these qualities; not many but they're out there.
So, that is a hint of my issue with her work. That being said, I think this is her most important work to date. It's important because she introduces concepts to her audience that are necessary to the navigation of life in our new era (dare I say New World Order?lol). Her concept of "wholigram" ( I hope I'm spelling it correctly as I have the audio version) makes one look at existence in a geometric way instead of simply linear. She advises us not to look at past experiences as something simply behind us but as a piece of preparation necessary for our Now.
She covers the immune system and its relationship to self esteem in a profound way. Many, many things are covered; too much to cram into a concise review. She is passionate as usual in the delivery of her message. There is a sense of urgency in this book that suggests her concern that we are living in very " interesting times". If you're on a path of conscious personal growth this book will be helpful...BUT realize that Myss is a mystic swimming in mystical streams which are,at times, opaque even to the mystic.
