Pretty things aren't meant to be broken. But I broke her, and now we both have to pay the price. I'm her nightmare. I'm her savior. And now that I have her signature on an ironclad contract, I own her body and soul. She doesn't remember me. She will. It's inevitable. Because as much as I know I need to stay away, for fear of unlocking the memories I helped her father bury--I can't. She was the apple in the Garden, dangled in front of me, her core so tempting and sweet. A voice whispered. Just. One. Bite. I bit. I tasted. I fell. Welcome to the world of the Russian mafia, where death, is your only future.

5 (Oh the Emotions You Make Me Feel) Stars

It’s no secret I love Rachel Van Dyken. It harbors beyond obsession. I traveled five hours to see her in person … for the second time! I beg for all of her books because they are addictive, different and always steamy.

Rip is a standalone. STANDALONE, did you get that? Standalone, but Rip is also a spin-off from the Eagle Elite Series. The timeframe is set during Elude, but caution, I would read Elude prior to reading Rip because there will be spoilers from Elude, but as I said before Rip is a standalone.

This is Maya’s story. She is Andi’s half-sister from Elude.

Maya is sold to Nikolai. Wait… what? Okay, let me back up and rewind.

Nikolai is a doctor. He’s not your normal doctor. Yes, he can heal people, but he also knows how to wipe out memories and make people do things they do not want to do by unique methods.

The beginning starts off with a bang and we know from the start that Maya is tortured. Wow, shocker right? Rip is a darker read, a little taboo and completely intense! I read it in one sitting and I couldn’t get enough of it.

Maya is forced to work for Nikolai and she signs a contract with him.

- Must work for a year for Nikolai
- Must wear all Black
- Must not have relationships

The all black should throw you off, but there’s a reason for everything! So in some way Maya is sold to Nikolai, for at least a year.

The thing that REALLY REALLY REALLY worked for me was the suspenseful and mystery part of this book. I was asking questions throughout the whole read. Why was Maya tortured? What is Nikolai’s relationship with Maya?

Nikolai is a huge enigma in this book. He’s very picky on how he works and there are certain things Maya has to do for him. Like bring in patients, but they don’t have medical records nor do they look like regular people. What does Nikolai really do in the backroom with the people?

As you continue to read, bits and parts of the story start to fall into place and I LOVE IT! I really love the writing style and everything just flowed for me. From start to finish, Rip will have you shocked, consumed and panting for more.

Oh and PS. Rachel’s husband is on the cover and can I say yummy! hehehehe

Nikolai is a different kind of an anti-hero whose the practices and skills will expose you to different perspectives. He is a doctor, extremely intelligent and handsome too, and he is good in controlling people's minds and memories. Not simply good, he's the best! He's Russian and he offers his suspicious services to both the Russian and Italian mafia. Maya is the daughter of Petrov, a Russian mob boss. She is a college student and a big admirer of Nikolai's scientific achievements. A pre-arranged interview with him by her father for a research paper of hers is going to unexpectefly end into her entrapment into a pre-signed contract between Nikolai and Petrov. According to this contract, Maya is given to Nikolai for a year by Petrov. She gains internship next to a prestigious doctor but the rules are simple: no questions, dress code: Black, no phone calls-internet, no family, vacation upon approval by Nikolai, no sexual relationships-must stay pure the entire year!

Maya has no choice but to comply with the contract specifications, but she's not aware that Nikolai belongs to her past, he had manipulated her mind when she was young under Petrov's threats, and that he has been secretly in love with her since then. The situation is getting even more perplexed when parts of her erased memories start to come back.

This page-turning tale has surprising depth. This is another very different sort of romantic thriller with unique type of twist that will definitely surprise. It's one of the best psychological suspence romances I 've ever read. The author is playing with your mind with masterful deftness that will still live you thinking. Well written with shades of "Jack the Ripper" and plenty of twists and turns! I highly recommend it!

3 Sweet Mafia/Mob/Serial Killer Stars
This one started off pretty good and then later on it turned into a big unbelievable eye rolling session for me.
Maya's Russian Mob father has given her to Nik the Dr who's known to make a man walk into a burning fire to kill himself. Nik has Maya sign a contract to be his employee for a year. She will have to earn her freedom as well as other things. Maya's father has warned Nik that if he touches her in any way he will kill her.
So right away you can tell that Nik and Maya have a past of some sort but we have no clue what it is. Slowly through out the book we get flashbacks in both Nik and Maya's POV.
At first I found myself not being able to read fast enough to see what's going on. Some chapters headlines were about woman being cut open and left dead. So you know there is a serial killer on the loose. Nik's office is opened up late at night and these woman are being brought in and it's not clear what is going on. Maya is to assist and not ask questions.
The sexual tension between Maya and Nik was yummy. Then I was sad because the sex was pretty much glossed over. But I was still ok with it. lol
When the secrets start coming out and the Italian mob is brought in is where I find myself laying my kindle down more and more. The last 10% had me really rolling my eyes with the whole Jack the Ripper shit going on.
I liked this one for the most part but I didn't love it. I also didn't know this was tied into the Eagle Elite series some how. That's funny because I didn't really care for that series but I read another book that was tied into the Elite and loved it.
This is a hit or miss author for me. lol I was however very intrigued by Phoenix. I might have to go hunt up his story. Maybe:))

Unexpectedly Sweet

This book tells the story of Maya and Nikolai. At first, it seems that the story will be a straightforward forbidden love story, with the young, naive Maya, falling for the older, dangerous, Nikolai. While all of that is true, this story was anything but straightforward.

Early on, Maya is sold to Nikolai by her father, a Russian mob boss. Why Nikolai wants Maya is somewhat vague, but it is obvious that the two have a past. That past is slowly pieced together through flashbacks and memories that eventually come to the surface.

Once their past connection is made clear, Nikolai's intentions still remain unclear where Maya is concerned. Furthermore, his entire life is shrouded in mystery. Obviously, he's a dangerous man, but there is far more to him than meets the eye.

With the Russian mob, the Italian Mafia, and a serial killer on the loose there was plenty of action in this book. I couldn't figure out how everything connected. Honestly, I'm still not sure that everything does fit together.

I was trying to figure out what was going on, right to the very end. The suspense was killing me! Even knowing that some big revelations were coming, I didn't expect the twists at the end.

Some of the big story elements were pretty unbelievable. However, I wasn't put off by this. The story kept me intrigued and I enjoyed the story, regardless. It wasn't as dark as I'd anticipated, but it was a great story.

Wow!!! What an intense journey this book was. I'm going to attempt a review without any spoilers, because half the fun of this book is the mystery and suspense.

Our hero, Nikolai Blazik is a highly intelligent doctor who is world re-known, wealthy and gorgeous too. He's part of the Russian mafia and supposedly works for a Russian mob boss, Petrov. Our heroine, Maya is the daughter to Petrov. Maya is given a interview with Dr. Blazik arranged by her Father. This interview was for a paper she's writing for college. Maya has always been intrigued by Nikolai, following all his accomplishments and reading all she could find about him. But Maya finds out in the interview that she's actually been given to Nikolai for a year by her father. Nikolai has her sign a contract with some strange stipulations.

This is the set-up for an intense, mysteriously hot romance. I cannot say too much because there a many twists and turns in this story that keep you guessing and wondering about these two and their HEA.

I loved our hero Nikolai!!! I wasn't so sure about him at the beginning, but hang in there you will fall in love with him, I did. I didn't necessarily agree with all he did or does, but totally understandable in the context of the story and mafia world. And his dedication to Maya is so sweet and heartwarming. I really liked Maya, she was intelligent, strong, sweet, beautiful and sassy as they come. I loved these two's dialogue and witty banter. They're chemistry and sexual tension was off the charts good.

I wanted to inhale this book, but at the same time go slow and relish each word. It will pull you in from the first page and you won't want to stop till the last page is read. I liked many of the secondary characters and felt some of the other characters she created were wonderfully strange and scary. I do have to say I would have loved more background story on the heroine as well as Nikolai and an epilogue too. A truly great read and highly recommended.

My lady boner for Rachel's books is porn star status. It's that big. Luckily for me, it can see reason. Not all of Rachel's books have been a home-run for me, but the ones that were she hit out of the park. Rip is one of those books.

I knew this book was going to be good. I had already fallen in love with the characters from the Eagle Elite series so by the time I was ready to start swiping, the anticipation was about to kill me. The thing about anticipation is that as much as it can heighten an experience, it can also ruin one—you expect too much, or hope it will be one way when it turns out to be another. Have no fear, Rachel has used her magic once again to create a masterpiece of pure genius. Never has is been so easy to fall in love with a monster and never before has it felt so right. All the anticipation that was built up by me was completely justified. Simply put, Rachel rocked this book.

I'm pretty sure my porn star status appendage just grew an inch. ~ Kelly, 5 stars

Ms. Van Dyken is a writing god sent from heaven. This mafia spin off from her Eagle Elite series is just amazing!!

Every book she has written is top notch, action packed, fun and witty all in one. Rip was no exception. Although it is technically a spin-off, it can be read as an amazing standalone, and how she did that so perfectly is beyond me. The main man Nikolai.....woah. Like, for real. Sorry, but when you have a character that is so dark and delicious spilling of the pages, you just have to wipe off your drool and say, "woah."

Ms. Van Dyken is my go-to author for an awesome read no matter the genre, but romantic suspense is my ultimate favorite. And this doctor had me on the verge of entering a loony bin with the twists and turns along the way. I love me a sexy-yet-crazy read! ~ Krissy, 5 stars

I am addicted to Rachel Van Dyken and her mafia series!!!!!! And in her newest release, RIP, RVD continues to spellbinds her readers with this edgier, dark, gritty, and suspenseful read. I love reading books that holds you hostage because you never know what to expect. I love how RIP was a story that unfolded in a precise and intricately manner. Slowly, RVD peels each layer of grit, suspense and truth as readers got to know Nikolai Blazik, the Doctor and Maya, the daughter of a Russian mobster.

#Rip1

I really don't want to say much about the book because this story will grip you right off the opening pages. You will want to know more of Nikolai, the doctor who can help erase memories by incorporating pain and pleasure. What I can tell you is that Nikolai was the one who helped erased Maya's memory when she was sixteen and now a couple of years later, Maya is standing in his office. And this time, Maya belongs to him for one year. She will have to abide to his rules in the contract. No questions. So what happens when memories comes slowly seeping back? And what happens when a strong connection between them begins to develop? Can Nikolai save and protect Maya from the danger that threatens her safety?

#Rip

As always, RVD continues to hypnotize her readers with her sexy suspenseful mafia romance. I loved RIP. It was exciting, engaging, compelling, and sexy!!!! There was never a dull moment in the book because RVD did an amazing job exposing the secrets and truths. So if you are looking for a hot new sexy, edgy mafia romance then I highly recommend you to read RIP. Also, you definitely want to one-click this book because the cover alone is HOT!!!

Smutathon Book 4 - Forbidden Romance / one word title / different worlds

PROS
- The story highlights Dr. Nikolai Blazik. You know him in the Eagle Elite series as "The Doctor". Nikolai is a mentalist / hypnotist, torturer and master manipulator. I'm terrified of him and I can't comprehend from all the disturbing stuff he did to his love interest, Maya Petrov. His character is very anti-hero and I like this book explored his complexity.
- The scenes are descriptive and graphic. It's easy to visualize them but fair warning, there's gore and it's insane.
- The romance between Maya and Nikolai is somehow sweet. I don't think Nik is redeemable but this is dark romance y'all.

CONS
- It started great but around chapters 30 - 45, it becomes dragging. Some parts are dull and snoozefest.
- As much as I want to like Maya, her character is plain. Nothing is special about her aside from being a love interest and the girl who lost her memory.

4 "messy" stars

Maya Petrov gets the opportunity of a lifetime, she gets to interview HIM – the genious of medical science, Nikolai Blazik...and the fate or some fucked up ordeal in the most darkest corners of the human psych made it happen differently – the meeting ended in Maya's signing a one year contract that includes working for Mr. Blazik but it also includes every other aspect of her life now owned by him.
She just wasn't aware that her prison –was her freedom.

Nikolai Blazik is...
...one of the scariest bastards to ever work for the Russian mafia, not only is he notorious for his lack of conscience, but he can make anyone believe anything yb the simple snap of his fingers.

Maya is constantly on the edge of finding out the truth about who Nikolai really is, of what he truly does as he conducts his business, about herself as well...she hates her father, the cruel, hateful Russian mafia boss that sold her to Nikolai, the man so dark, so elusive, scary at times yet she can't escape the „feeling“ lingering somewhere deep inside of her mind, that she somehow knows him...or have met him before...and as the time spend with him passes, she can't help it but to slowly cross the thin line of dark impulsive allure and attraction and the lingering danger of finding out the truth...
The man who she dreamed of was both her hero and her villain, one in the same. Jekyll was Hyde and vice versa.

Once the lines are crossed, there no going back for either of them...
How had I thought I could ever continue living without her? I couldn't. Not anymore. Even if that meant she'd hate me forever. I loved her enough to want her mind free. Free to choose me. Free to curse me. Just...free.

And while in the background a real killer is ripping apart women spreading panic and dread, the actual danger comes hunting them from boths sides of their pasts...and the choices they make would alter their lives but it will also give them the strength to face the past, own it and beat the real enemy.

I liked it from the very beginning, it was suspensful and mysterious and it was gripping until somewhere around 80% of the book where I somehow lost the edgy feel of mystery as it resolved...it probably had to do with the fact that I have predicted the true villain and I just waited for the final resolve :/ nevertheless, I praise the before mentioned „dark and thrilling“ atmosphere, it was truly done masterfully. Bravo, Ms. Van Dyken.

‘But what’s the fun in playing chess when you already know all the moves?’

I feel like I start every review I write for a Rachel book by saying that she is an author I can count on but I say it because it is oh so true! In this new stand alone mafia book (with Eagle Elite tie ins) she has proved once again that she excels in complex, action packed love stories that are incredibly unique and leave me wondering just how her mind works.

‘I’d saved her. She just wasn’t aware that her prison – was her freedom.’

I feel like it is impossible to describe this plot in a short paragraph and yet to go too much into detail would take away from the reader discovering the crazy and surprising twists and turns that happen in the story. After reluctantly signing a contract with Nik, Maya has to live and work with him for a year and must abide by his strict rules, including asking no questions. It seems to her that he is trying to control her life but through the beauty of his perspective we see he is honestly trying to save it. So much is not as it seems and it is FABULOUS!

“Stop being creepy.” He threw his head back and laughed. “I don’t think anyone’s ever called me that.” “To your face, probably not.”

Nikolai and Maya were characters unlike any other I have read before. I adored Maya’s spunk and curiosity and her determination to never waiver or back down. But Nikolai and his broken self was the true beauty of this book for me personally. His family’s debts to the Russian mafia and the secrets they hold have forever altered him and his outlook on life. Convinced he is of bad blood and trying to do a little good in an evil world he is complex and dark. Individually they are both exciting and dynamic characters but together they burn for each other and eat the pages on fire,

“Our life . . . it will never be easy.” “Who wants easy? She shrugged. “Give me hard.”

Rip is a spin off of the Eagle Elite series and a standalone and while I do believe it would still be an incredible read by itself, layering it onto of the Eagle Elite series (falling after Elude) bring a whole new dynamic level to it. I cried with the return of Andi and Sergio to my life. I laughed with Tex and bonded with the Elite women I love so much. The whole book over all was a hit for me, but honestly Rachel never delivers anything less.

Rip was a physiological thriller of epic portions! It was one of those stories you think is going one way, pretty straight forward right? Well you'd be wrong because when the shit hits the fan what you thought you knew goes sideways!
 photo Rip O2.jpg
When Nikolai Blazik swore the hypocritical oath he must over looked these words which a doctor was suppose to live by. "I will not use the knife, not even on sufferers from stone, but will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work." But is he the villain in this story or the hero. All five of the mafia families have used his brand of skills, some call him the mentalist because of the way he can creep into your mind, others call him Dr.kevorkian. Everyone should be able to choose when and how they die with a bit of dignity and grace. The Russians and Italians have another name for him to them he's known as the doctor.

Maya Petrov is suddenly given a new internship with Nikolai Blazik, Russian Doctor, researcher, and genius. Too bad it is forced upon her and will essentially keep her at the Doctor's mercy for a year. Thrust in this strange and questionable new world with strict expectations and flexible ethics, Maya is just trying to figure out how she ended up in this situation and what is going on under the surface.

This is a mind-bending, mysterious, dark and twisty ride with deals, debts, danger, and repressed memories. It is full or all kinds of dark subject matter like murder, questionable experimentation, and dirty deeds.

In the beginning I just kept thinking...can this aloof, mysterious, and apparently dangerous man become a hero to me?

Nik is rich, handsome, brilliant, but also brooding, controlling, bossy, and erratic. He is a man of mystery with many hidden secrets. He usually can control himself, his environment, and even other people, but Maya manages to get under his skin, tempt him, and makes him lose control. He has his reasons for all he does, but they are kept from her and from us until they are gradually revealed along the way. He is a man that appears to be dangerous, uncaring, arrogant, and a possible sociopath, but sometimes we can see his conscience and hidden feelings and he appears more like a savior. Is he a hero or a villain?

Maya is not sure if Nik is imprisoning her or keeping her safe. It is hard to see who is the lesser of two evils. She is sassy, smart, and determined to get answers. She only knows a portion of the real story of her life and she has no idea what the truth holds.

Touching her or a relationship is strictly forbidden. There are reasons why, but the pull is hard to resist. They have an undeniable attraction, but there are lots of rules, obstacles, secrets, and lies. A coupling could prove deadly for both of them and either one is at risk to break. They are tethered together, but caught up in a volatile, dangerous situation that has no easy resolution.

This story happens along the same timeline as Elude(Eagle Elite #6), but can be read as a stand alone spin off. I loved getting some of the Italian mafia cross overs. They always manage to make me laugh right through the danger and suspense. There was an underlying continuing story line of Russian vs. Italian mafia. I am Team Italian all the way

This was full of secrets, dangers, mysteries, surprises, and twists. It started out convoluted and a bit confusing, but gradually started weaving a compelling, complicated dramatic story line. The mysteries were slowly revealed keeping me turning pages. The characters layers were peeled back as they opened up and truths came out. Various connecting story elements began to come to light to form the big picture from past to present. It was told in dual points of view in present and flashbacks. It was a multi-layered, unique story with some dark suspenseful elements, but also had some humor and deep emotions. I ended up really enjoying it and the characters.

So did Nik win me over? YES, he did. He is not perfect, guiltless, or innocent, but he has enough good in him that I got attached, and I was totally rooting for him and Maya to overcome their many dangerous obstacles.

This book was AMAZING!!!

FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED ::

Wow!!! I don't even know where to begin this review after reading that book. I'm actually kind of speechless…lol

RIP is different from any of the other Rachel Van Dyken books I have read. She is still a fairly new author to me. I have been meaning to read her Elite Series and I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Well I am definitely moving them up my To Read list, if they are anything like RIP was, they are going to be fantastic reads.

RIP is a Mafia based story that is a spin off from her other Elite series. This book can be read as a stand alone, but just know that past characters from the other series do make an appearance and play a small part in this storyline. Rachel does a fantastic job filling in all the blanks so you aren't not lost once those characters come into play. I will say I loved the Italians…They were fierce but still made me laugh at times.

This was a story that was filled with drama, secrets, betrayal and lies. There was a new twist added to the story at every turn. Just when I thought I figured out what was going on, Rachel threw in something new to story and threw me off my game. I truly do love when a book can keep me on my toes. It makes me just want to turn the pages that much faster. This was a fairly quick read because everything just flowed smoothly and you couldn't put the book down. I just had to find out what would happen next.

I really can't go into any detail about the storyline because it would spoil it for other readers. But I can say that I loved the characters in this story. Maya and Nikolai were great. Maya was such a fierce heroine in this novel. With everything she learns throughout the story and everything she has endured in her lifetime, I can't believe she didn't break…no one would've blamed her if she did. I loved how loyal she was to Nikolai, even when her was being a complete jerk to her. She stuck by him no matter what. Nikolai took some time getting used to, but by the end I was putty in his hands. I will say some of the stuff we learn through this book about his family, was a little hard to read about, but for some reason it just drew me to him even more. You'll see what I mean once you read this book.

So if you are looking for a mafia based love story that is slightly taboo, and will keep you on your toes all the way through, then RIP is the book to read. I look forward to more books from Rachel and I am definitely going back to read the other series!!!!

I loved Nikolai when he appeared briefly in the Eagle Elite series. So mysterious and oh so hot. RIP was terrific; I enjoyed every second of reading the story of Nik and Maya. They were perfect in every way.

Nikolai is The Doctor, and Maya wants to interview him for her thesis. So a meeting is arranged, only things don't go as planned. She's not unfamiliar with the Russian Mafia, but she wants to be free. From this life and especially her father. So when Nikolai admits that her father has sold her off to him, she's shattered. She's Nik's for a year. Living in the same building, and working for him, no questions asked.

From one prison into another.

Good looking? Check.
Brilliant? Check.
Rich? Check.
Possible sociopath? Double check.
Great. I was dining with Ted Bundy.

I love Maya. She is fierce, loyal, sarcastic, took no shit kind of gal, and fit perfectly with Nik. I loved their back and forth banter and her ability to unwind him. Their chemistry was off the charts, and the sexual tension went off the roof!

The day had been difficult, but she was making me laugh, just like Andi had. I needed it more than oxygen.

There were many secrets in this book, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I read this one in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed Nik and Maya's story; if you're looking for a sexy mafia romance with a lot of suspense, one-click this bad boy!

This book can be read as a standalone, but the characters from Eagle Elite do appear in this book.

LOVED IT .. Review to come ;)

Review:
Freaking loved it like everything else from Rachel. Rip was filled with intense situation and two unlikely people finding each other in such darkness.

Maya and Nikolia come form somewhat of the same world! But when Nikolia is given Maya he will have to find a way to keep the secrets locked away without falling for her and opening up the box that could destroy them all.

What an awesome story line, I always love the whole mafia stories but this one was crazy extreme. Nik has some wild secrets he is hiding from Maya, some that are so deep you will be sitting on the edge of your seat biting your nails waiting to see if they will come out!

I really enjoyed how Nik does everything he can to push her away, and after reading I know why he did it but I have to say I was pissed at him till things start to unfold and oh boy does it get CRAZY! A doctor of death, is that what Nikilia is? Is that who Maya knows, is she getting in deep with a crazy man?

Maya will be forced to see who Nikolia really is but will she see good, and can she find a away to open up that box she cant seem to unlatch with all the dark secrets from her past…. WELL I AM NOT TELLING so go get the book you will LOVE IT!! :D

Holy crap that was ... crazy!!!

If you're looking for a book to get you into a Halloween feel, this is it. Mafia, serial killers, blood, lots of blood.... Did I mention blood?

I knew this would be nuts, I just didn't realize the extent. I also loved the added effect of the headlining news articles above most chapters. if it wasn't the news, it was a Russian Proverb, very well done, it gave it another dimension.

I also loved my mafia boys made a debut. They're even funnier and more ruthless than ever. Rachel took that to a whole nutha level in this book. It was like a mafia/murder/mystery/drama/romance/psychothriller

I give it 4.5 bloody stars

I really enjoyed this spin off from the Eagle Elite series and a look into the Russian side of the Mafia. I loved the connection between Nik and Maya and there was an element of mystery that kept me on my toes. It was also great seeing characters of the Eagle Elite series :)
Some things didn't work for me which is why the rating is the way that it is but all in all this was a great intro to a new series that I look forward to reading more of!

Rachel delivers another heart-pounding, adrenaline fueled story spiced with romance!

Rip is a standalone and you will love every word of it! It’s a spin-off from the Eagle Elite series but you can read this and not be confused on anything. However, if you plan on reading that series and have not, there are spoilers from that series in this book. But again – it’s a standalone and a damn good one!!

Rip is told from both Nikolai and Maya’s POVs. Nikolai is very gifted doctor. He has a very unique quality that the Russian mafia uses to keep people in check, if need be. Maya is the daughter of the Russian mafia leader. Maya is traded to Nikolai; she is contracted to work for him with quite a few demanding stipulations.

However – there is more to it than that. As you read, there are many twist and turns in this book. How is Nikolai affiliated with the Russian mafia. Why and what is Maya traded for? How is everything so intertwined?

And that is all I am giving you about the plot. And I think I gave away more than I should have.

Rachel does a fantastic job of weaving every minute detail together. As the story progresses, each twist is tied into the previous one and things start to make more sense. The writing is phenomenal. You will find yourself wanting to try and figure out the answer before we are given it. Rachel pulls in from the very beginning and keeps you glued to the pages til the end. Oh and let’s not forget how Rachel is always able to write the most beautiful yet steamy romance scenes. These scenes are erotic in their own way. Just written perfectly.

I highly suggest you get your hands on this one – the book people!! Not the model on the cover – cause well Rachel just might hurt you considering it’s her husband. LOL

Go buy the book now!!!

I have not read the Elite series that this appears to be a spin off from. I didn't read many reviews before starting this, so at first I was really intrigued by what was going on. Never mind Nikolai being in the Mafia, at first I thought he was a Vampire!

I really liked the beginning and Nikolai and Maya's banter. I was confused at times by the timeline and if I was reading it correctly, the whole story took place in a really short space of time, so although we come to realise these two have history, Maya doesn't know that, so I felt they fell in love and were confessing their love a bit early in the story for me but then again, I'm not a fan of insta-love. I found this quite a refreshing read and it had some interesting plot lines and I did enjoy it, I liked Nikolai and Maya's characters.

There is a big reveal about Nikolai's family history. I did guess at it, but I found that a bit far fetched and would have preferred if the author had come up with something different and the ending seemed a bit too neatly wrapped up, so I presume there will be other books to continue the story?

This book features the men from the authors Elite series, but reading this, I'm aware they have all had their happy ever afters and are loved up but there is still one that intrigues me and although I know from this book how his story ends, I am intrigued enough to go and read it as I am now wondering what becomes of him in the future.

If you like Mafia romances, then I recommend this one.

I didn’t know what to expect from this book. The synopsis is vague, and I didn’t want to read the reviews for fear of spoiling myself. This held my attention from the start! I was so intrigued by everything that was happening; even though I didn’t understand what was happening.

Maya is currently working on her graduate thesis. She has wanted to meet Nikolai for quite some time now, because he is an amazing and revered doctor. She has been trying relentlessly to catch an interview with him, but he seems to never have time for interviews, until now. When she finally lands an interview with him, what happens next is not what she expected. Suddenly, he now owns her for a year, and she has to work for him without actually knowing all the details.

Nikolai is scarily amazing at erasing memories, and making people do his bidding. I had some pretty crazy theories about his clinic, but all of them were wrong. Damn, that twist really surprised me!

Sorry, but that’s really all I can say about this book without spoiling you! Just know that this was crazy good and I enjoyed it so much! Well, duh, when have I not enjoyed a Rachel Van Dyken book?

It took me a while to get into this one, and decide if I liked Nikolai or not. I think I'm so used to the EE guys, that this spinoff with these guys just didn't seem too right at first. It seemed, more harsh, if that even makes sense. Not that the EE guys are innocent or anything, but there's a whole different tone in this one.

I liked Maya, she was pretty cool, and given that we knew more about things as the reader, than she did as the character, it was interesting to watch how she navigated through, and what actually started coming out.

I had my suspicions about a certain character as well, and they turned out to be correct, but way worse than I had been thinking.

Lots of layers in this one, and also some surprises too.

Enjoyed it, but not as much as our EE guys. Still another great addition to this series, and I do recommend.

Rachel Van Dyken does it again, delivering another thrilling, heart-pounding story in her mafia spin-off , RIP!

Nikolai Blazik is a genius and a doctor, but he is also part of the Russian mob. When a debt is owed, Nik's neat and controlled world is suddenly filled with turmoil and tensity. Maya Petrov, daughter of Russian mob boss, may not remember Nik, but Nik hasn't been able to forget her. It could only take one wrong word, one wrong gesture, to bring back Maya's memory. But that isn't the biggest hurdle that Nik and Maya face. Attraction is a shocking current that moves through them every time they're near, to touch her though means not only her death, but Nikolai's as well. Can Nik and Maya overcome the darkness of their past to find the blinding light of love in their future?

RIP, RIP, RIP, oh where should I start?! I guess the beginning is always best... At the start of this story I was as lost as Maya was when she was unexpectedly thrust into Nik's world. Who was this strangely cold, yet caring, dark man? Was he a sociopath, schizophrenic perhaps? With his oddly opposing personalities, and his quickness to shift from casualness to indignation with a simple question, one had to wonder. Is he savior or foe? Nik's erratic behavior often left Maya scared and confused. The plot was undoubtedly complex and confusing for a good portion of the story, but while the story remained convoluted throughout, the many pieces of the puzzle began to come together to form a bigger complex picture. As Maya slowly started to understand her past, as Nik bit by tiny bit let go of his many secrets, I as the reader, began to understand the bigger picture as well. I couldn't stop turning the pages in order to find out just what was going on!

As Nik become more human, in a sense, I couldn't help falling in love with him. His entire life has been filled with darkness, and Maya is his only light. Maya on the other hand was one tough cookie that I liked from the beginning. I admired her spunk and determination. There was a good dose of cameos from our favorite Italian Bosses as well, which is always a treat. They injected a nice amount of humor into the story that only these characters can bring. RIP also runs side-by-side with Elude (Eagle Elite #6), and gives fans a little extra glimpse into that story.

Murder and mayhem run rampant in this dark romantic suspense, with an unexpected twist that honestly, excited with it's connection. You'll see. Flashes of the past mix with the present to give readers a complete view of Nik and Maya's backstory. Also, RIP can technically be read as a stand-alone, but if you want to get an in-depth feel for the story and the many intriguing layers of Rachel Van Dyken's mafia, as well as a latent story-line of the Italians vs. Russians, then be sure to start from the beginning of the Eagle Elite series. It's not a series to be missed regardless. Whether you decide to read that series now or later, you won't want to delay picking up RIP! Weaving a sexy, dark, and captivating story-line, Rachel Van Dyken bears another stunning story of the likes that had Eagle Elite fans begging for more!

**** 5 Cranky Stars ****

This book is darker than the rest of the series, but it still owns my heart and soul.

Maya Petrov has had a hard life, being the daughter of a ruthless Russian mobster; she’s endured tragedy, heartache, and lies at every turn, but keeps her head held high and pep in her step.

When she finds herself as the newest “intern” to Nikolai Blazik, the mysterious and god like doctor, she’s thrown for a life-altering loop. Nikolai knows many secrets, secrets that could destroy Maya or himself, but either way, she’s strictly off limits to him. He finds her completely mesmerizing, which literally puts him in a deadly situation.

When our beloved Italians become involved, and open up our minds to what’s truly going on, it becomes clear that this is a much darker situation than we’ve seen with the Eagle Elite series, but out of the complete chaos that ensues, devastating truths are revealed. Maya’s been missing parts of her past, and when it’s slowly brought to life, you don’t know who she’s truly able to trust.

RIP is considered a standalone, but I’d say if you haven’t read the Eagle Elite series, it’s a suspenseful way to enter the mafia world, and I guarantee you will be dying for more! No pun intended…ha!

I don't even know where to start! This book was was a bit of a mind f*uck to say the least. It keeps you guessing right to the end and you need to be prepared to be blindsided by the multiple twist and turns. I like a story that keeps me guessing, a plot that had me trying to figure out the mysteries unfolding, I enjoy trying to guess where the story is going and I particularly love it when I'm totally wrong, I enjoy being surprised. This is definitely one of those books where you'll change your mind a million times of where you think the story is going. It gives you information in dribs and drabs, you start as clueless as Maya as to what is going on and you learn a long with her, which I think is a very clever way of story-telling, it keeps you totally glued in to the story, and I was really invested in these charcters.
Nikolai is a really interesting character! My opinion of him changed along the way almost as many times as my guess changed as to where the story was going. He's a very complex man with multiple sides to his character and he's holding many secrets that will shock the pants off you.
I thought this book was very cleverly written and it was clear that a lot of research had gone into it. Nikolai is a highly skilled doctor with the ability to make people forget, to bury their memories in their own minds, and I was so impressed with how this was written. Kudos to Rachel Van Dyken, I was totally absorbed, and also a little creeped out!
Since this is a spin-off to the Eagle Elite series, (it's totally stand-alone and you don't need to have read the Eagle Elite series to read this) which I have not read, this has totally made me want to read it! Those Italians have me intrigued!
Another five star read from a brilliant author who has shown she can write bloody everything exceptionally well. Can't wait for her next offering to the literary world!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I've read all of Rachel's Eagle Elite series to which this book is loosely tied in to but from the start it had a bit of a darker feel, the characters a bit more mature, yet there is definitely still that lighter Rachel Van Dyken spin she tends to put on all of her novels. And just so you know, you don't have to read the Eagle Elite series to read this. They just happen to share a few characters and this is a stand alone.

Nikolai intrigued me from the start. He's bad and yet, he's not and I have no trouble falling for a bad book boyfriend as long as he's showing some remorse for the things he's done. He and Maya's relationship to each other and their interactions kept me turning the pages as I waited to learn their motivations, their secrets and ultimately how things would play out for them.

I won't ruin any of the plot but fans of Rachel will be pleased with this book. It offers some suspense, a bit of sexy, a few laughs, and drama as always. I think this may be the shortest review I've ever written but sometimes less is more and with this book, you just need to experience it.

What an exciting and refreshing story. I need an epilogue!

I was dying to know all those secrets of Nic and why he did those things from the beginning of this story. Rachel Van Dyken did a good job let me hang in there. Really need to be patient or I would have steal a glimpse of the ending.

I couldn't write more about this story without revealing spoilers, just be sure to be patient to read it without skipping pages.

It will be better if this story tell me more about h's family though, including their past and what happened to them afterwards.

And again, I NEED EPILOGUE!
