I was given an ARC of Craved from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
It feels like it's been FOREVER since I last devoured an installment of Kenzie's "Wolves of the Rising Sun"... but within the first chapter I was lost in the story. Then I had soon finished, leaving me NEEDING more.
Scarlett is going to the one person her mate told her would help, but when the meeting starts an old flame interrupts, someone she thought she'd never see again. Devon is just passing time & the attractive women at the bar is his latest distraction....
I will say, this time I felt like the book could have been longer, hang on they all could have, but Kenzie left this installment in such a way, that I have sooo many questions. My fingers are crossed they get answered in the uncoming installments.
Craved is book 4 in Kenzie's "Wolves of the Rising Sun" series, which in turn is a part of the "Mating Season" pack series. A set of books from 6 authors, 6 different packs & an individuals story on finding their mate. I'm hoping that wasn't the last novella from Kenzie's "Wolves of the Rising Sun" I've really enjoyed what I've read so far & I can't wait to delve into the other authors work in the "Mating Season" series.
audio book read well by Elena Wolfe and Jeffrey Kafer in alternating POVs. It was a pretty good novella but I thought the romance fell kinda flat. A reversal of the usual story where the H left the h and they are pushed together years later by some kinda plot convenience. Usually the reason H left isn't good enough and neither is the grovelling. Well this time it was the h that left and although her reason for leaving was good, she did it in a pretty cowardly and cruel way. So now Scarlet and Devon/Smoke meet again 5 years later. He's still a hacker but now he works for the good guys. Scarlet is now a wolf and on the run 2 years after her mate was murdered.... yep you heard right, she met and mated another guy/wolf a couple years after she left Devon. At first their reunion is acrimonious, but it doesn't take long for their old attraction to break down walls. Devon and the wolves work to keep Scarlet safe and find out who has targeted her. My problem was that Scarlet just would not trust Devon and kept thinking the worst about him over and over again. I felt bad for Devon. Especially as she never apologizes. He's not a doormat about it but the relationship felt unequal. I did not respect Scarlet. Safety stuff
After five years apart, the craving for each other has never died. Now Devon and Scarlett get their HEA.
'Craved' is the fourth book in the absolutely terrific Wolves of the Rising Sun series by Kenzie Cox as well as being part of the multi-author Mating Season Collection of stand alone paranormal romances. I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review and I absolutely loved it. This action packed story had me hooked from beginning to end and I couldn't put it down.
Devon Michelson, code name 'Smoke' is a computer hacker who lives for the rush of the challenge and is working off his parole as a consultant for the FBI, as well as providing security and surveillance for the his sister, Arianna's pack after they found illegal drugs being grown on their land in the Bayou. Sitting in their bar, Wolves of the Rising Sun, he is rendered almost speechless when the woman in the corner booth turns out to be the only woman he ever loved.
Totally unable to live a life on the wrong side of the law, Scarlett Jacobs had left Devon five years ago without a word and vanished. He'd tried to find her, but she'd covered her tracks and now she was back in the Bayou looking for help. She's there to meet Silas, an ex-marine who'd worked with her mate Bax. The last person she expected to see was the man she'd always loved, and now, two years after losing Bax, an FBI agent killed in the line of duty, she had to face her past demons whilst running for her life.
I'm not going to give any spoilers here, but this is fantastic story of a love that never died and burns anew while they try to work out who is trying to kill Scarlett and why. With some terrific characters, unexpected good guys, bullets flying and corrupt FBI agents this action packed story has humour, love, steam and the happily ever after we all expect. There are no cliff-hangers here. I absolutely loved this book and really can't wait for the next one.
Scarlett, fled from her old life and the shaky future laid out for her. She is going to the one person her mate told her met with a sticky situation and to save her life she was mated, but not be her true mate. When her mate dies and she ends up in the sights of some very bad people she goes to the one person she was told could help...Smoke. Little does she know she already knows him..very well!!
Smoke, aka Devon, is tending bar and keeping the ladies happy and then a blast from his less than salubrious past shows up. Scarlett still thinks of him as a hacker, and he is, but now he works for the good guys. He's just the help Scarlett needs but can he keep his mating instinct in check???
White hat hacker and lovable bad boy, Devon is just mouthwatering. Scarlett is fabulously feisty and is trying to put her crappy childhood behind her. I loved the premise my only wish was for it to be longer!
I'm really enjoying what I've read so far & am now on tenterhooks awaiting more!!!

Craved: Wolves of the Rising Sun #4 (The Mating Season, #25) by Kenzie Cox
Devon Michelson, known as Smoke, is a hacker. Even though he is now basically legal, he will always consider himself a criminal. Five years ago his girlfriend, Scarlett Jacobs, left him because he couldn't stop doing what he was doing and she didn't want to live that kind of life. When she left he hit rock bottom and got caught. Now he they meet up again and he wants nothing more then to have her back in his life again....only she doesn't want the same.
Scarlett moved on. She was bitten by a wolf and mated the man that saved her life. Only now she is alone. Her mate is dead and now she is on the list to be next. She goes where she knows she can find help. What she didn't plan on was finding her ex, Devon, in that same place. She left him because she didn't want to live like a criminal and it seems nothing has changed with him, he is still a hacker.
Love, love, love this series from Kenzie Cox. This was Smoke's story and it was great to get to know him more and a little about his past. This is a fun exciting story with amazing characters and world written by the author. She really know what she is doing with this series. Lots of twists and turns in this story as well as corruption. You just don't know who you can trust and who you can't. There are references to sex as well as sex scenes in this story. Got to see some of the people from the previous stories and got to meet some new ones, who hopefully we will get more about or their own book in the future. Another amazing story you must read by the wonderful Kenzie Cox, can't wait to see what happens in the next one!
Devon and Scarlett's story was outstanding! Kenzie Cox writes amazing novellas, and this one definitely fit that description. It's a short read. It probably took me about an hour to read, but there was so much excitement and passion in those pages. I loved that the hero was not the wolf, which made this one different from the other stories in the series. Also, Scarlett and Devon have a very intense and interesting past. When you take all the emotions from their history, then add in everything from the current situation, everything becomes almost explosive, and it is awesome! I think Kenzie Cox has mastered the art of the short story. In fact, it might be safe to say she has taken to a new level. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is part of the Mating Season Series. This book was funny as all get out. We had times when it was really intense. We meet a female wolf in trouble she come to the bar for help and runs into her ex. They have some unfunded business but are trying to ignore it. She is running for her life and dosent want to deal with her ex when she is to enable no choice. Will they be able to work things out? Will they be able to save her? Will they become mates? What will happen next?
I received this free copy from the Author for an honest review.
Scarlet Jacobs got a message after the death of her husband that she was in trouble and to run to Silas Davenne and to meet him at s bar but her ex boyfriend was there and in the middle of everything. Now Silas tells her the only safe place is with her ex. Devon and scarlet both aren't sure if their hearts can take round 2 of being together!
Love the action and drama. I love the characters and there interaction. Great story
Book gifted for an honest review and I honestly loved it. ☺
Five years since Scarlett abandoned Devon (Smoke now), a lot has changed for both of them, the one thing that hasn’t is how much each loves the other. Now if Scarlett can just get over the past then everything would be perfect, well except for the fact that she’s running for her life. Enchanting tale to add to the Wolves of the Rising Sun and Mating Season collection. You have to love the characters, always sassy and usually up to no good (justifiable no good anyway), but always hearts of gold no matter what gets thrown their way! **this book received in exchange for an honest review**
This is another great installment in the Wolves of the Rising Sun series. There is something for everyone, a little suspense, a mystery and romance. The story will keep you reading until you've reached the action packed end. This book sets a story arc that will continue through the next few books and I can't wait to see what happens next, I'm sure there will be a twist or surprise. I'm can't wait for the next book in the series!
I received an advanced reader's copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Kenzie Cox newest addition to the Mating Season Collection Craved is ours suspense and intrigue. Scarlett shows up out on now where needing help. Devon agrees to help her even though she broke his heart. On the run, hiding and fighting for her life Scarlett and Devon find that their love for each other hasn't lessened in the years they were apart. Love really is stronger than time.
This review is from: Craved: Wolves of the Rising Sun #4 (Mating Season Collection) (Kindle Edition) Craved is book 4 of Wolves of the Rising Sun and part of the Mating Season Series by Kenzie Cox. This is the story of Devon (Storm) and Scarlett, a second chance romance. I don't want to go much into the story so as not to give it away but you got drama, mystery, danger, murder, lust, love, humor. It was short but very well written. Can't wait for the next books!
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Kenzie Cox. This is book 4 of the Wolves of the Rising Sun series by the author.
Scarlett Jacobs comes back into town when she finds herself on the run after a murder.Devon Michelson worked hard to erase his past but when the 1 woman he loved comes back into town all bets are off.
This has action and drama with characters that you fall in love with.
In Craved, we get Devon and Scarlett’s story—and it’s a second-chance romance with all the emotional weight I was hoping for. Scarlett is very much the one who got away, and when fate throws them back together after five years apart, the sparks are still very much there. Devon is focused on keeping her safe, but Scarlett has to do the hard work of reckoning with the past. Their time apart has changed them both, and I loved watching them navigate whether those changes make them stronger together—or still too far apart.
What stood out to me most was how their connection has endured. Even with all the time, distance, and emotional baggage, the chemistry and care between them never faded. Their story feels more mature and grounded, a little heavier in the best way. While the rest of the series leans into the fated-mates heat, this one brought in some powerful emotional growth and reflection, which made the ending that much sweeter. Another great addition to this addictive series.
So I finally differed it out why this story seemed so familiar. Doh.... It's because I've read Brindle one of the other authors books.no wonder I was enjoying this series and now it all makes sense to me and I'll end up reading them other authors books as well at least eventually. This one I love it brought more to light what is happening but I do feel for Bax because he never got the chance to to meet his mate for real he only turned Scarlett because she was going to die otherwise. He must have known that doing so would mean that both of them wouldn't find the other half of themselves in doing so. But with hearache comes joy and love. Gimmie book 5 quick
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
It's funny smoke is ari's foster brother in book three she calls him for help but we don't meet him she thought he was a criminal but not a evil one but wanting to stay away from criminals she keeps her distance but in last book she finds out he works for FBI, I thought maybe he was in a spin of series we never did find out what was in the envelope unless it was for smoke his next assignment? But to my surprise book 4 turns out to be his book (I'm sad I was hoping for a bunch of misfits FBI agents series) I liked the twist with her becoming a wolf.
Another book in the series with a great backstory and a kind of insta love. Scarlett and Devon have history, the kind that can make things better or worse, depending of how is handled. The story here does not actually end, so I am sure we will hear about it, in a future book.
I have truly enjoyed getting to know the Wolves of the Rising Sun. Each couple has something special to offer the storyline. I love how each book continues with the characters’ lives and how new characters are introduced. I definitely will be reading book five.
A quick read filled with shifters, intrigue and hot sex. A entertaining read and great series. I would definitely read next book and recommend to those whom like shifters and non lengthy books.
Awesome storyline she is the run in need of hideing ; someone wants her dead. He was deviated when she left now he has to hide her and keep her safe. Drama, action. Fast read but oh so good. Next book should reveal who is the bad guy.
DNF - I just couldn't stand the holier than thou heroin and her judgmental bull. Maybe that's a testament to the author, that I detested the female lead enough to stop reading the entire story. 😆
This is book 4 in the Wolves of the Rising Sun series. I only have books 1 and 4 on my Kindle, I got them for free, and the first book made sense because it was the beginning of the series. Book 4 confused me so I probably needed to read the previous books to have a full understanding of what’s going on. We meet Devon, who’s a human, and he knows all about werewolves because his sister is mated to one. There no brief recap of their story or how Devon felt when he first found about werewolves. Devon just accepts them and they’re his family, which is great, but I wanted to know more. He’s a computer hacker and he works with the wolves to help them monitor their properties. Scarlet left her criminal/hacker boyfriend five years ago for a normal life. Once human, she met a wolf a few years ago and he turned her. Now he’s dead and she’s in danger. Scarlett goes to her mate’s fellow wolf friend, Silas, for help. Devon just happened to be in the bar, he met Silas a few hours ago and completely trusts the stranger, and he reluctantly agreed to help her. There’s a lot of tension between Scarlett and Devon. She’s condensing, always chastising him for hacking computer systems (which she needs him to do for her) and she’s trying to change him. She doesn’t accept him for himself. All this upsets Devon but he understands why she feels that way. Their romance felt force. I could see the love they felt for each other in the past, but not the rekindling of it. There are a few loose ends. Scarlett and Devon are living their HEA without any worries the past could come back and bite them. It just didn’t make sense. The writing is good and there aren’t any typos from what I noticed. 3 Stars

This story was short, so much that there is barely any time to set up the plot of the book. It was nice, the romance and action were okay but nothing truly memorable. Since everything is quite rushed, there's not enough build-up and every problem that comes forth is dealt with quite quickly. Nevertheless, it was still a fun read for the time it took me to read it.
Life in the bayou has calmed down some, the pack has grown and family is close by. A new threat is on the horizon and old partners are reunited. The good news is there will be two new pack mates, the bad news is someone is out to get one of them.
Check out this review and others at www.Twinsietalk.com www.Facebook.com/Twinsietalk www.Twitter.com/Twinsietalk www.Tsu.co/Twinsietalk Newsletter : http://eepurl.com/brwkPv I receive this book from the author for an honest review. I am a sucker for a2nd chance romance. I mean how can you say no to finding your one true love and making it stick this time? So Smoke AKA Devon and Scarlett were in love as kids but Scarlett couldn’t handle the life that she saw Devon headed down so she left him. 5 Years later Scarlett returns but not to see Devon. She needs the help of his wolf friend Silas to figure out who killed her mate Bax. WHAT?? MATE? Yes, MATE!! So Bax was investigating a human trafficking ring when he was killed. Someone is now threatening Scarlett and the only one that Bax trusted with his information and his mate’s life is Silas. Needless to say, when Silas tells Devon that he has to help AND keep Scarlett safe in HIS house, it didn’t go over very well. The couple are so drawn to each other and are fighting the chemistry but wounds from the past are there in every conversation that they have. When they finally get to spilling the beans about everything…well let’s just say it gets REALLY GOOD!!! When we think that our couple might get to “ride off in to the sunset”, we have bad guys showing up to try and put an end to Scarlett.
