Jean Henri Gaston Giraud (pen-name: Mœbius) was a French artist, cartoonist, and writer, who worked in the Franco-Belgian bandes dessinées tradition. Also published as Jean Giraud.
The first book in publisher Graphitti Designs' Moebius library, which contains 9 books collecting the bulk of Moebius' work, each limited to 1,500 copies signed by Moebius. This first book collects Upon a Star, Arzach & Other Fantasy Stories, and The Airtight Garage.
Upon a Star contains 4 stories: "The Repairmen", "Upon a Star", "Aedena", and "Celestial Venice", the first two of which remain in print in Dark Horse Comics' World of Edena, which also includes the rest of Stel and Atan's story following "Upon a Star"; however, the second two stories (i.e. "Aedena" and "Celestial Venice") are long out of print and only appear in two places in English: this edition and the rare Epic Comics paperback compilations. Which is why I acquired this beautiful edition, and have sitting next to me Moebius' numbered copy 107 of 1,500.
The next section is Arzach & Other Fantasy Stories, which contains all of the various Arzach stories, which are currently in print, but the rest of the stories -- "The Detour", "The Ballade", "The White Citadel", "Ktulu", and "The Legend of Arzach" -- are harder to come by. "The Detour" and "The Ballade" were recently reprinted in issues 1 and 3, respectively, of Metal Hurlant's 2025 revival. The latter 3 stories are long out of print and another reason to invest in this edition.
The last section, The Airtight Garage, is entirely out of print. The cheapest way to get the main "Gararage Hermetique" story arc in English is to acquire the four-part Epic Comics issues, which can be acquired at reasonable prices (about $20 to $30 each). But the first story in this section, "Major Fatal", is not included in those comics and is another story that was printed in English in only two places, this being one of them, and both out of print and quite scarce.
Anyway, so that's the contents and where to get them -- the quality of the contents, the stories, the artwork -- that's another matter altogether and one I won't comment on in detail -- look at the 5 stars, and multiply that infinitely. This is Moebius, and Moebius at his best. The out of print stories are incredible and entirely necessary for fans of the sci-fi master. (Sci-fi being, of course, only one facet Jean Giraud's artistic genius.)
