I like the non-religious, upbeat way this book touches on a child's loss of his grandfather. The story is told in an imaginative way that may appeal to some kiddos (was a little bit of a stretch for me). My 15-month-old didn't care for the cartoon-style illustrations in this one: he normally points out pictures he likes, but didn't seem interested in these pictures any of the three days it took us to finish the (somewhat-wordy) book.

This book is actually written to help children cope with the death of a loved one. I like the sentiment, but the story was a little jumbled.

I love how we really get to see Billy's imagination run wild. Even though he is in a city, we get to hear how he compares it to the West.
